Of the guys I know in EE, I landed the most interviews out of any of them at 6. The next runner-up is the IEEE president who was already fielding two job offers before he went to a single interview anyway. Quality over quantity though...

Missed an interview due to some location issues. I was told a location at the Fair that seemed unusual, went for some earlier interviews at one of the usual locations and found that the company had a signup sheet at usual location and Career Services staff had no knowledge of company being at unusual location. Decided to sign in at usual location, figuring that was the spot. Never got my interview before I had to run off to second usual location for further interviews. Will attempt to rectify situation, not counting on much from it. Shame too, it was a decent company with a rotational program.

Other five interviews were acceptable. One with a company I really don't give a pomegranate about, but I made eye contact with their recruiter too long on Wednesday. Bosch and Nextron (Parent company of the companies that make Cessnas, Bell Helicopters, EZ-GO golf carts, some lawn tractor company, a defense group that works on UAVs, and something else) are currently the two most interesting possibilities, both with rotational programs. The other two interviews of the day were substantially more rigid and situational-question-oriented, so didn't feel quite as strong for me.

Still a couple of companies who didn't do interviews today or tomorrow I'd like to get a call from.

On a whim (they had a pretty sweet looking swag bag) I asked this old HR guy at the Unilever booth how an electrical engineer could end up working for Ben & Jerry's, so he laughed, poked me in the belly, and said "I don't think you need to". Goddammit I can't wait to be old as dirt. He then proceeded to grill me with interview-style behavioral questions and I regretted my decision immensely. It was a good swag bag though. Travel size samples of every toiletry I need shy of a toothbrush.

Frankly, out of 200+ employers and the 16 or so I actually stopped to talk to, none have me anything approaching excited. I am not, however, the kind of person who gets excited for much, so I'm not sure if this is me having a normal reaction or me legitimately not giving a pomegranate.

I don't really know how to job hunt. I mean, I get the application process. I don't know how to translate what I get a kick out of in electrical engineering and life in general into something I can search for in job description mumbo-jumbo. Or how to find less-known companies. Or how to figure out job titles for these interests of mine to search off of.

I'm also not sure I actually like electrical engineering, or I just like building pomegranate and a lot of the pomegranate I build happens to involve solder and circuits.

Another bout of self-doubt and confusion is the appropriate response to a resoundingly successful job hunt initiation, right?

Bonus: The last few interviews interfered with my usual lab time, so I went to the 7-9:50 section instead. And even with an extra 45 minutes, only one guy finished. 18 hours of work to look forward to this weekend and a test on Monday.
