Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread
Taric doesn't have a build. Just don't die, buy wards, stun priority targets.

Good items include but are not limited to

Doran ring
Philo
Hog
Kage
Deathcap
Aegis
Chalice
Mercs

Taric doesn't CS. Taric doesn't really heal.

R>W>Q>E

If your lane partner is getting that low, tell him to stop being stupid.
Well if my CS sucks and my lane partner/opponent is pathetic/toohardtokill how the pineapple can i do something late game?
You only heal if your laning partner needs healing, not if they've taken 40 damage. Taric is a support, his definition of "doing something lategame" isn't "get a pentakill"

Taric is there late game for his stun and his Auras. You get 70 AD from ult, like 30 or 40 armor from w, you get Aegis which means some more armor, mr and ad. If you want more auras you can buy some such as AP spellvamp from WotA or you can buy that item with the CDR Aura.

Thats what the Kage, HoG and Philo are for. So you don't need to 'improve' your CS.
My definition of doing something late game with a support char like Taric is having at least 3-4 completed items (Aegis,Soulshroud,FrozenHeart anything that could help in teamfights)

yeah i guess i could return to that strategy.
Because I don't feel like going through over 450 pages of stuff.

So I had one game last night against bots as Alistar. How useful do you guys consider him? I mainly played him as a support healer with Triumphant Roar spam to keep up minions and surrounding Champions, while using Pulverize on mass enemy minions and Headbutting opposing Champions when they try to run.

The recommended items are vastly different than what guides are telling me to get. Should I listen to the guides, or just stick with recommended stuff until I start playing against other Summoners?

Alistar is only viable as jungler or as support which are roles you shouldn't be learning just yet. Jungling will get important at lvl 30 because you then have the runes and masteries neccasary for it to be effective and supporting through lvl 1-30 makes you lack some critical things like last-hitting. It's best to start playing typical ap/ad carries and later adapt to other roles, which you'll learn. Characters like Annie and Ashe are great for this. As you're looking to learn champions I'd refer to the guide site mobafire and for the more advanced stuff the featured guides on solomid. Just to be precise, Alistar is one of the best support characters, so he's not bad at all, but you'd do better to focus on other things first.
At first you would want to get the recomended items as not to get a headache, but after level 10 or so starting to know how to build items effectively without depending on the recommend items is essencial.

Also Alistar Health Recovery skill is minimal at best (Its useful, but doesnt make a great impact later on), he really shines at Disabling enemies with pulverize in team fights, or flash behind a enemy champ and use headbutt to send him near a tower/allied champs while using your ultimate to leave almost unscratched from the 60+% damage reduction (If you happened to flash in the middle of a group of enemies).

@above: i started to learn about support and Jungle Roles as soon as lvl 15 or less, Problem?
He doesn't have Flash yet, dude.

Okay. This is how you Alistar.

1) Wait in bush.

1.5) You Flash in, but since you don't have Flash...

2) As soon as the enemy gets within your range...

3) Walk over and Pulverize him.

4) Headbutt him to your direction of the towers.

5) ???

6) Profit

Oh, and heal as much as possible if your lane partner needs healing, and if you get fairly low with the enemy pelting you (like 1/3 hp) just pop your ultimate.

For items...

Riot's recommended items suck. They're good for getting used to a champion, but you'll realize they suck eventually.

For most games, I'd recommend something along the lines of...

a) Philosopher's Stone
b) Heart of Gold
c) Ionian Boots of Lucidity
d) Aegis of the Legion
e) Frozen Heart
f) Banshee's Veil
g) Randuin's Omen
h) Sell Philosopher's Stone and buy a Force of Nature

That should last you pretty well for your beginning levels. As you get higher, you'll eventually learn how to build items according to the enemy team composition.

Oh, and last hit. Get that early. What I mean is don't attack the minions until they get low enough for you to 1hko and get the gold.

Did you mean "sell Philo Stone" instead?
Right. Whoops.
Recommended items are rarely good. Just check with the forum here. We can generally agree on stuff.
Someone knows exactly when gold/sec items start paying for themself?
http://leaguecraft.com/strategies/gamegu...tems.xhtml

Edit: Never mind that, the author factors in other calculations. You need roughly 25-27 minutes for the item to pay off for itself.
Gold items take around 25-27 minutes depending on the item if you choose to keep it. If you sell it.. well pomegranate. That's just dumb ._.
