Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread
IllegallySane Wrote:Hmm, wait. Does that mean if I were to download LoL now and check out the free Champions, does that mean I could grab them and play them forever, or it's more like a free trial of the characters?

You have 10 free champions every week, they rotate on mondays/tuesdays. You can buy the ones you like the most with IP or RP (game currency and paid points respectively). On average games on main map summoner rift give around 70 IP I guess, and first win of the day has 150 IP bonus. Champions cost 450, 1350, 3150, 4800 or 6300 IP. Best champs to buy for 450 IMO are Ashe for ranged DPS, Annie or Ryze for Mage, and Nunu for a tanky mage.

Edit: oh and as someone else mentioned, liking riot on facebook and youtube will get you tristana (ranged dps) and alistar (tanky support).

shouri Wrote:Also, when ryze becomes free, he's pretty straightforward to use.

He's good on how to play a mage but I think he's a particular case because of his mana scaling isntead of AP
Learn tanky dps. All you do is farm for 20 minutes and kill their carry in a fight. It's really easy Smile
Darkmaniak Wrote:He's good on how to play a mage but I think he's a particular case because he stacks tank items and does more damage

Fixed.

I really think yi teaches a new player nothing, tanky deeps really are the best place to start. They are forgiving on mistakes and often have gap closers to make life easier.

Why do I see so many Singed players rolling with Cleanse?

Pushing R is hard sometimes. Really hard.
IllegallySane, just play two or three games and then buy Ashe.
Post #OVER 9000!

Unless you're playing Karthus, Pressing R is impossible.

And looks like you got the honor of getting post #9000. See what I did there? Rolleyes

 Female team vs Male team (unintentional) - with Manu and Zendaine

Once we realized that we were all using female champs, we decided to go with this just for the lulz, no matter if we won or lost.

Akali's too fun. Had lots of fun instagibbing squishies, though major internet lag lost me a few kills and resulted in a few deaths. >_> Though now since I'm somewhat used to Akali now, I need to refine the combos a bit since I didn't combo correctly more than a few times in that game. Any advice?
Q -> wait for CD -> R -> Autoattack -> Q -> Autoattack
With Kennen all you have to do is press every button and then throw your keyboard down the stairs, hitting the R button.

Eww wireless keyboard do not want. DO NOT WANT! /inb4itzajokez

Who said it had to be wireless? Throw your keyboard down the stairs while it's attached to your computer and you'll still win as long as you manage to hit r at least once. :3
Aynia Wrote:Q -> wait for CD -> R -> Autoattack -> Q -> Autoattack

Oh hm.....I've been dashing in after dropping Q (when ultimate is available). I'll give this combo a try next time around, thanks!
KajitiSouls Wrote:Eww wireless keyboard do not want. DO NOT WANT! /inb4itzajokez

Who said anything about it being wireless? Just rip the cord out of your tower, throw it down the stairs, and it'll STILL hit the R button and cause Kennen's Ulti to go off.
You guys have freakin long ass cords for keyboards then. Or you sit next to the stairwell.

The 9 Layers of ELO Hell has recently resurfaced in GD! It's a good classic if anyone wants to read it, and I recommend it.

I read that a while back. Its fking entertaining/funny as hell. xD
Oh, big question before I dive into LoL. How long do games typically last? I don't mind 5-20 minute games. If it ends up being 30~45 minutes or longer that'll be hurting my urge to play, because unless it's an MMORPG I don't want to sit that long at a time.

That's your answer there. General rule of thumb is to set aside at least an hour per normal match.
IllegallySane Wrote:If it ends up being 30~45 minutes or longer

Typical timeframe for MOBA games.
Some occasions you'll win or lose by the 20-25min mark.
