9/11 anniversary: US marks 10 years since attacks



The US has started to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

Security is tight following warnings of a possible al-Qaeda attack.

The US embassy in Afghanistan has begun the ceremonies, with events due later in the sites where four hijacked planes struck, killing nearly 3,000 people.

An official memorial to those who died is to be unveiled at the site of the World Trade Center, whose twin towers were destroyed in the attacks.

Metal barriers have been erected on roads near the World Trade Center, while police in New York and Washington are stopping and searching large vehicles entering bridges and tunnels.

The CIA received a warning last week that al-Qaeda may have sent attackers, some of them possibly US citizens, to bomb one of the cities.

The very fact that people still get paranoid about a potential attack on 9/11 ten years after the fact is proof enough to me that the terrorists already won.

I mean pineapple, if you wanted to spread terror around and do another attack you'd do it on a day when nobody was expecting it in a place that nobody was expecting it.

Forget the memorial and new york, nuke kansas or something.
I mean christ, I bet that if there is an attack or something, the supposed threat in new york was a diversion to get them focused elsewhere.

I liked the gorilla exhibit, though it felt kinda staged.

Several other reports stated that Al-Qaeda had plans to also talk the west coast this time, primarily San Francisco or Los Angeles.

Mmm, I don't see anything happening though so just going to go about the day.

I'm tired of worrying about these ass clowns trying to hurt more people. So for once, I am going to try to enjoy my day by not worrying about something bad happening to our country.

A lot for terrorist attack yes, but to be honest, tsunamis both in Japan and Taiwan, as well as earthquake in Haiti killed way and WAY more people :/

But those were nature's doings, unlike this one that was caused by other people.
