Disgaea 4
#1
Totally redeemed the series after how bad 3 was. Just beat the main storyline, and I find the characters infinitely more likeable, especially MC comparison; they all seemed so shallow in Dis3 to me...seems like they went back to whatever old structure they were using, and I like it. I also enjoy the number of Axel appearances, now everybody gets to enjoy that loveable retard. Finally, a Disgaea that beats 2!

Also, the one and only perk of living in the middle of nowhere, I didn't even have to preorder it to get the limited edition+figurine, lol.

I love D4's story, even tho I'm in Ep8. Definitely was the saving grace compared to D2 and D3's stories, although I did enjoy D3's story.

Also Fenrich is easily my favorite character in the game.
Vulcanus(?) can GTFO for all I care.

I'm really liking the amount of hidden gems in this game, I have a feeling I'll be finding stuff a month from now. Just now I got a "terrible luck" from the item world prophet, so I just pestered him with chats for a while until he got pissed off, killed him, "item level has increased". LOL. Just about all of the item world mystery rooms are the same, at least one person can snap on you if you don't leave them alone. Though I can't really kill groups yet, especially not the Netherworld Voting Booth mystery room, I had the misfortune of that being the first time I found out I could make NPCs pissed, suddenly, 20+ level 2000^s jumping down my throat when my highest is 231. The humor is less "in your face" and more "see if you can find it" this time around, and as I said, I like that.

I'm a bit cautious on leveling items for the time being. It seems like NIS got tired of people steamrolling the NPCs so they decided to make them like level 3000-5000+ lol.

I'm just glad the trophy list for D4 isn't a total RNGfest compared to D3. At least now I don't have to reset the game a gazillion times in the "Item World" just for pirates.

Actually, you do. Just now it's for pirate ship parts instead of the actual pirates.

This one has a much more grindy trophy list instead of a random chance one, though.

Oh...great. Guess I know what I'll be doing once I finish everything.
I know you need all items, minus grades, for a Gold Trophy, and that's pretty grindy in itself.
I can stand doing super grindy stuff, but RNG stuff is a nightmare lol.

Been playing at it through the week, just beat Chapter 3.

I wish they'd tone down on SARDINES every five minutes, but it's Disgaea, so I can bear with it knowing that it's intentionally CRAAAAAZY- and Valvatorez hasn't been obnoxious with it later in the game.

As for any other character impressions: Fenrich suprised me, I didn't think he'd be so likable. I was expecting Fuka to fit some kind of Kugimiya Rie "tsundere" role, but she wound up being a "genki girl". Her character's kind of out there, but not as annoying as I originally expected her to be. Also, Desco is suprisingly adorable- I did not see that coming.

To my knowledge, it has the hardest main storyline out of any other game in the series. That and the nice story are nice improvement over being able to zip through the main game and expect the best parts to be in the postgame.

Also, one last note- about the figure, much better than expected, still terrible. That face is really QUALITY and the difference between the front of her hair and the rest of her hair looks terrible. It's pretty much Chinese bootleg quality. Would have been semi-decent if they got the faces right on these. And this is why I was only willing to buy the Limited Edition version at most.

Well, so far, so good. Can't wait for the rest of the game.

I do like how they make you go WELL into the 100s to actually beat the story this time around. Disgaea 3 only had me go to the 70s / 80s, but I had to go to the 140s for Valzy.
Also the "Sardine" bits were hilarious IMO.

Asides from that...Giant Desco and Giant Big Bang are OP as pomegranate. Giant Desco easily carried me to Mt. Ordeal 4.

Just a heads-up, they ninja'd in a free HD Asagi DLC with no update under "new releases". And the very recent patch 1.10 I can confirm makes the DLC work, so there's that.

edit; just in case your Asagi has decent gear on her, make sure to unequip it before you pass the bill to turn SD Asagi into HD Asagi (only appears after you beat HD Asagi instance, 10K Mana to change form and only appears for Asagi). Luckily mine didn't have anything good on her, but it all poofs when you switch them.

I'm more concerned what the patch fixed / changed. They ALWAYS do that kind of stuff in every patch.

EDIT: I just found this out, but it's been going on for a couple days now.
Best dupe glitch ever!

It was mostly support for upcoming DLC characters. It did not fix the duping glitch, which most people seemed worried about. I'll probably only bother to use it once I have a L300 Trapezohedron or something, otherwise getting the items is doable under normal terms.

The only bug that has been spotted so far is that Cam-Pain access is...messed up, a bit. The audio pops up immediately, but the map itself doesn't load until the audio finishes. That's not a terribly bad bug, to be honest, and this adds support for unique characters in online maps, too.

Yeah that's the dupe glitch; it isn't fixed, and there are a few other ways to do it too, one of which is much easier to do without any constraints on Item World usage (though it only works for weapons). Basically, you just have a character reincarnate into something that can't use the weapon that is equipped (IE, monster to human or human to monster). Still requires the bag/warehouse to be full, though.

The only thing I hate duping is innocents. I never fully "Innocent'd" out my Adell in D3, but he has the perfect item setup.
I can live with TRYING to dupe the R40r0 items again for days on end, but maxing innocents was the most annoying thing to do, because getting multiple sets of 19998 takes a good while. Personally I'd just use this glitch max out a gazillion innocents and then if they patch this out, go from there.

Regardless, I know what I'm doing these coming days.

Hrm, seems like NT Asagi's Flying Bullets Evility is broken. Too bad, I would really have liked that infinite gun range. ;_;

Also, how the hell do you beat Zetta, jesus. His Evilities are retarded strong, and he has 195M HP so I can't 1 shot him on first turn so he doesn't 1 shot ALL of my doods on second turn. I don't even think grindan will help, and the only weapon I have strong enough with the potential to reach that damage at this point is only common rank, the Satan Force Pringer X had, so unless I get level orbs every friggen level of IW I'm screwed on that.

Pick up suicide tactic, gogo!
I don't know if he has the evility that prevents him from being lifted, since I'm not there yet.

That was my strategy. I got him down to....120M this time, with a level 97 common grade Satan Force on my nekomata (level 5500), and even that, 8 rounds of suicide lifts, stealing his weapon and Makai Wars, and a level 275 Prinny Suit to try to tank if all else went down the drain, failed. Only took off 70M, lol

His Evilities are 30% ATK/even rounds 30% INT/odd rounds, but his main is what sucks. "Special skills use your highest stat as the multiplier". ;_;

AHA, there, I beat him, I was forgetting to Braveheart and surround attackers with Assembly members for the Blight House 10% all stats buff.

Spent 5 hours exploiting to max Innocents (Gladiator x8, Sprinter x8, Fist Fighter x1, Fencer x1, Mediator x1, Manager x8, Statistician x8). Takes 5 hours in D4 where as it took dozens upon dozens of hours to get to that point in D3. Why must D4 be THE most broken game in the series!? First it was breaking the 64-bit damage cap, now it's duping exploitation to the max lol.
