KajitiSouls Wrote:Lux is a support caster hybrid. Her ratios and skill set don't allow her to carry hard late game. She still has the potential to burst someone down, but the reliability of her combos is fairly iffy. Smart shielding affords an impressive amount of survivability to your team however. You have the right idea of keeping your distance though, because Lux doesn't exactly gain anything for being close range, other than to chase.

The optimal strat involved 2x Philo Stones, but that obviously no longer works. I'm not sure what else to tell you in terms of itemization.

You're doing it wrong.

Not really. Lux is not very good because of the way she's semi support. She's not enough support to function independently from items so she requires a solo to be truly effective. But because she's semi support, she doesn't do as much as damage as a normal solo laning caster.
Well, I'm still (technically) new... but here's what I've been thinking regarding lux... lemme know if this is good or not would ya?

Optimal gank against people who wont destroy you:
Lux (side) gank. W into the jungle/gank assister to not give yourself away and shield :3. Toss E in escape path for the slow, don't activate. Flash in basic attack with lich bane power up. Activate E, basic attack again activates her passive. 700+hp gone (after moderate defenses). Snare with Q when they flash/run, hell even if they stay to fight. While snared, give em another lich bane powered basic attack. Fire ult if able/worthwhile.

If it's someone that'll destroy ya... well then you act as bait Big Grin Toss the E+activate to bait them toward you if possible. If they don't take the bait, you keep tossing attacks at them to wear em down Big Grin I don't use Q just in case they really DO decide to come after me with ghost or something so that I can snare them and get somewhere safe... or if there's a trap ready I save it to root them if they try and flash out of it.

I usually carry flash and teleport/fortify. Yeah... fortify, rarely though. inb4 "omg noob carries fortify when playing a support/caster". I've managed to hold towers 1v3/4 thanks to that+ one spell cycle. It's also awesome against divers Big Grin
[Image: LoL176.png]
Early on, it was little to no action, which basically meant that me and Cait were free-farming each other out (while I was trying to find ways to harass her without getting my ass kicked).

Later on, we were ahead, and it looked like we would win. But it became close...and we lost. >< Though this game kind of gave me a quick refresh on playing Malz since I haven't been playing him for some time.

I've never said she was very good. I would argue that she's not good as a caster because of her sub-optimal scaling, and especially her cooldowns. Overall DPS over a long period of time on a single target in practical settings is pretty bad compared to other casters, and her auto-attack to fill up some of the shortcoming is just wonky.

Your thoughts on Morgana?
After playing as Lux for so long and trying everything possible, I find Lux best in a duo lane as a support caster. Her strengths are her range and support capabilities and can really help your partner. She should not take solo because your farm is better off given to someone else who can make use of the solo farm and can carry throughout the game. Also, considering her sustainability is awful with high mp costs and long cooldowns, the enemy solo can really take advantage of that and just tank your burst damage and kill you. Lux can't solo against any tanky dps well.

I've tried all kinds of item builds and the one I like the most is two gp5 items then rabadon cap and void staff. The gp5 items first because I find it really does let you build more items going into late game since Lux's farm is really, really bad at the start (E has such a high mana and cd cost that it's a trade off between harassing champs or killing creeps during laning). Then pure AP items to take advantage of her early game high AP ratios. Finish the rest of the items depending on what the enemy team is building.

I should note that Lux has a good early to mid game but then completely falls off the team late game when the enemy team starts stacking magic resist. Lux is still really fun though which is why I mained her at some point.

Morg is great. One of the very few champions who has very solid initiation.

Strong lane. Decent CC, utility and initiation. Solid.

Good to know. I was thinking about picking her up again.

EDIT: Dear lawdy what has Tribunal come to? Not that the system is entirely broken, but this is just lulz. Look at the attachments: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/show...?t=1207940

EDIT2: Wow Willis >_> I don't exactly believe the OP for the record.
hmm all have some valid points, so I'll just play my favourite mage in normals only. I just can't get enough of sniping that baron away or saving someone from ignite with my shield or landing that one snare which makes the enemy know they're doomed or scouting a 5-man trap in the brush with my e. One point I don't agree on is that she doesn't deal enough damage. If you hit 3+ enemies with your e and laser and q 2 it's some pretty decent damage especially if you utilize lichs bane. Not to mention the utility Lux provides with her shield and bind. She also gets a headstart on other champions because well I usually dominate squishy opponents with her because of her huge range in the laning phase.

Her AoE damage is pretty good if you successfully leverage early game advantages, and I suppose I'm not doing her justice speaking about her in terms of even ground.

However, that said, she's a shytton of skillshotting. It's not too difficult for me to dodge that stuff in lanes (anywhere between 40-90% avoidance, depending on the skillshot), and it's even easier to juke the stuff that can get you killed really fast. I find Lux underperforms if she can't keep her opponents on their toes, or worse, they bumrush her if she blows her snare and misses.

Maybe it's just me. I'm finding skillshots to be unreliable, partly because of the delays, partly because I'm good at avoiding them (especially if I'm Koggles xD), partly because I can't land Anivia's FF for shyt on good opponents.
KajitiSouls Wrote:EDIT2: Wow Willis >_> I don't exactly believe the OP for the record.

Same here, hence why I called him out for BSing. I know for the bottom line that he's not telling the truth. Heck, even shyt he's done (and got reported for) over a month ago is still fair game for ban worthiness.

Inb4 Pendragon comes in and shi'ts all over him.

Her only really unreliable skill shots are her laser as ap carry lux and her shield as suppport lux. Laser can be so easily be walked out of in open space with second rank boots unless you're in a hectic teamfight. At my elo (1650 or so) even if I would hit 5 on the original skillshot line I usually find myself only hitting 1-2 while poking if we're 5vs5 on open field so everyone can see me. I've some trouble hitting her shield as support lux since you've to cast it from brush (best position to set up q's) and that screws up its position if the ad carry isn't that smart. I never really have trouble hitting q because I only use it when the enemy champ is coming closer to harass me thus walking in a straight line. I don't use q for harassing e is for that. Pre-boots I don't even know if it's possible to avoid an e from Lux, but I usually hit around 80% of them at second rank boots and I max it first making Lux harass extremely good.

For example lets take malzahar (a common mid). His silence can be dodged, his pool can be walked out of, whenever he gets tries to gets close to cast his DoT he eats a q and a potential e or illumination proc. If he manages to land it anyway you've a nice shield that soaks up some of it at least. If he tries to do his ulti/pool combo you just flash out or walk out if you have time. I'd usually only die against malzahar with an ulti out of nowhere combined with jungler cc like amumu/warwick with red. He can't harass you as well enough as you can harass him and he doesn't have good sustaining means you'll at least have a cs advantage with a possible level advantage. I usually only have trouble with tanky/major sustain opponents. This would be common solo top material like Swain.
SolicShooter Wrote:he doesn't have good sustaining means you'll at least have a cs advantage with a possible level advantage.

Malzahar does have sustaining, if you take a couple of HP pots you'll have no trouble, his DoT gives him mana when an enemy dies with it. Also I'm not sure about CS advantage, Malzahar doesn't even need to be looking, his CS just grows by 5-6 when he throws the DoT move on a wave. I think Malzahar pretty much had mid done without even trying because he gets the creeps, has easy harass with q/ when E reaches the enemy champion, and then at 6 he can full combo you with ignite and make you b or kill you.
Lux really doesn't do enough damage. She is best really early on where your E and passive gives a lot of burst and too dependent on landing your snare if you ever solo. Anyone decent enough will dodge your snare and just tank your E....and then you're useless for the next 10 seconds spending way more mana than your enemy ever would. Sure, you will hit a few people with your ultimate in a teamfight but again, after using snare and the aoe you're useless for the entire duration of the fight. She also has a lot of problems going against any main mid champ so that is why it is probably better to be in a duo lane where landing your snares will be a lot easier and you should have the advantage with any combination.

Lux is one of my favourite champs but I don't think she is currently viable to use because if the game goes past 30 minutes it's like why didn't you choose someone else who can do the job better at this point? Any other mage have better damage, lower cooldowns and a good range. Of course, if you can really take advantage of the early game and snowball against the other team then it's not a problem.
Dyrus made the best "Anti Garen" runepage in the history of LoL!

Had two fun games as lux yesterday Big Grin

Both times we had horrid team comps. Either all AP, or mixed but no tank. During the all AP game... rumble and I pushed/harassed the hell out of top lane. It was ashe/poppy (i think). They were kinda bad. One of them just stood in their turret but didn't run around.... so they just kept taking Es from me every time I could toss it out 0.o

I've managed to use my ult in interesting ways during the other games. Oddly enough... I harassed with it. At around level 6ish, I initiated with it lol. They were in their tower at around 50% hp. My laning partner, jax, was about to dive. I was still getting there since I had recalled not too long ago. I wouldn't make it in time to fight. So I fired dat ult to knock him down to like 20% hp (more or less). Jax proceeded to jump them and explode em :3

It's interesting to initiate with it. Especially since this one time I managed to hit a team of 5 while they were fighting dragon. Freaked the hell out of them and they scattered... securing us roughly three kills, while the other two managed to flash away into their jungle.

Best part so far is that people NEVER build against me... I JUST don't get it. I deal a crapton of damage to them (though others usually get the kill, not that I mind) yet I still see no BV or even a negatron cloak >> It probably cause in these games it's tryn that keeps getting the kills after I Q/E someone. So the enemies keep rushing defense when they see our tryn at 17/1
Just got out of a game where I made A LOT happen in regards to initiating. Did exceptional at farming as well! Can't wait to take this pomegranate to ranked for season 2 (when my ranked hiatus is over).

Inb4 Kaj comes in and bags you. Rolleyes

On a softer note: You have to do a lot of tweaking and shyt before things start working out. If you need someone to help you test out Mumble while you're screwing around with settings, let me know. I'd be glad to help you out.

If you at least tried to test the program before jumping into a game, you're already doing a lot better than Will xD
