Exchanging Meso for Maple Points

That's not the point.
If someone sees that what people spend real money on can be obtained without spending money, new people will be attracted by this. This is how games should run.

NX trading room accomplishes the same goal without losing Nexon money or requiring a bunch of artificial limits to prevent abuse.

Nexon doesn't lose money either way. The fastest way to get meso is to buy a WG off the MTS and sell it. Otherwise meso making endeavors involve crafting things en masse or boss running and saving meso to buy things to MTS for NX. Meso through the cash trade room doesn't disappear. It's taxed. Meso:NX conversion makes it disappear forever. If both systems accomplish the same goal but direct conversion takes the meso out of the economy, why is cash trade room better?

I say that Nexon makes a fusion of NX trade room and MTS. Make the MTS like eBay where people can bid on auctions and such. Implement the Trade room for faster trades: want to buy a normal item? You can buy it for NX or mesos! Want an NX item, but don't have the NX or patience to go through the MTS process? Trade for the CS item using mesos!

But of course, this will never happen, becase nexon doesn't want to implement cash shop trading and of course wants to keep the MTS as shitty as possible with it's deplorable tax rates and NEVER UPDATING THE DAMNED DATABASE.<<- the MTS wouldn't be so bad if they just updated the damned database. You STILL can't put in certain bows/claws/knuckles, etc. AND any new items that could potentially be highly warranted (like the new face accessories, the angelic bless ring, etc.) won't and can't be set up for sale either. Hell you can't even put potential'd items into the MTS. These factors basically limit the MTS to:

-storage
-attempting to sell crappy items that aren't even worth their price
-NX buying
-Macro transactions (like +9 weapons with no potential)
-common items that will be bought almost instantly that can be sold for a recognized and reliable prices (10 atk wgs, etc.)

Cash trade room is better (for nexon) because it doesn't introduce NX into the economy.
With Cash Trade Room, not a single smega is used without someone, somewhere, having given Nexon a US$ for it.
With this MaplePoints-for-meso deal, people can smega without anyone ever having paid for them.
Why would Nexon want that? Just for the meso sink? Plenty of ways to do that without giving people free cash shop items.

Neither does this. MP =/= NX.

Not a bad thing at all. Did you forget there would obviously be a limit?

Not true.

It isn't free. People still need NX for MTS and less meso in the market makes it harder for people to do that, making them turn to buying NX. Nexon can make any item they don't want easily bought through this not able to be bought with MP.

There's really no reason for them to add any meso:MP exchange system. Even if MS was well-coded enough to prevent the constant onslaught of hacking and botting that massively inflate the meso values of items, the idea doesn't make much design sense. It's a crappy meso sink and a way to encourage players to play for longer, at best; and at worst, not even that, since the game doesn't really support meso farming, i.e. bots, exploits, Nexon's own meso-selling events, and a bunch of other crap alter the value of mesos so greatly that simply playing the game, killing monsters, and finding items is super inefficient at earning you currency.

Better support for direct player-to-player meso:NX trading would actually benefit everyone. Players can trade NX quickly and easily without getting scammed, third party meso selling sites go out of business, and Nexon can take a small cut. Everyone wins. It doesn't cross any boundaries Nexon hasn't already crossed, it's been used in plenty of other games, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than anything Nexon's ever tried to stop third party meso selling.

Edit: I'm thinking something like the trade system in Spiral Knights - players can buy NX in multiples of 1k; and the price of 1k NX is regulated by players with a stock market-like system.

You talking about actually legit people or people with hacking mules?

I don't know. I like the idea, but the ratio of mesos to nx would have to be higher than 10:1. And as stated before, there would have to be a cap on how much can be obtained in a certain amount of time. I'd say something like 25:1 and a cap of 5k per day or even per week, maybe? Also, rather than Maple Points, maybe have an entirely new nx currency that can only be used on cash shop items that are randomly selected each day.

Still, I just can't see Nexon making a anything like that, since it would mean losing money and lots of people would try to exploit the system.

Both in a sense. Mesos aren't even hard to make in the game anymore and the inflation is beyond ridiculous levels. Considering perfect scrolled VIP equips seem to go for 10-15+ bil easily and 9-15% Stat items going for 1-2.5bil. The in-game currency is a joke.
