UA Sair vs UA Pally vs UA Dk
#1
Like the other person, this thread isn't a which class should I choose. I want information so I can make an educated choice on what I am going to make.
I have a few questions.
1. How useful is the skill during 2nd job?
2. How long do you use the skill up to?
3. For warriors: Is the UA soul driver still as good after chaos?
And then I have a separate question
I heard that Eckhart's Vampire got better after chaos, is that true? Same with Irina's Wind Piercing.

I don't know if you've looked at any of these threads but maybe they can help answer your questions:

In my personal opinion Vampire is a completely useless skill, if it wasn't I would probably have made a UA sin.
As for wind pierce, from what I've heard it's pretty darn good.
Hope this helps.

The only UA's that are useful imo:
- UA F/P AM's (after jump) -> King of dot gets extra dot dps
- UA DB's -> Vampire works best for them, since they have the highest base watt and criticals.

All the rest is just plain meh.... Wink

Soul Driver is incredibly useful in second and third job, as it is stronger than all other mob attacks and has a very good attack range. That said, the skill is probably most useful for Paladins pre-Choas, as it is stronger than all of their mob skills from 2 to 5 targets, and it can hit five monsters at level 5 (level 100 UA) while the Paladin's Charged Blow can only hit up to 4 monsters. Paladins also get the added bonus of being able to use their Ice Charge to make Soul Driver freeze all of the enemies it hits, effectively making the player invincible if he/she can stand on a spot out of touch range and spam Driver.

After Chaos, however, Soul Driver loses its usefulness after level 120, as its damage is lowered from 250% per hit to 180% per hit, which does far less damage than Advanced Charged Blow, Berserk + Dragon Buster, and ACA + Intrepid Slash. After Chaos, I would imagine that Soul Driver would retain most of its usefulness for Heros, as they can't hit more than three monsters with their main attack skill until after Jump, and even then they can still only hit up to four monsters. Of course, even for a Hero, Soul Driver's use after level 120 is still very limited after Chaos.

True, but they can still get the UA skills by doing the long long long quest.

SD is only good for a Hero at Stronghold, DrK and Pally have superior mobbing skills that out damage and out DPM SD.

I believe Wind Piercing is changed in Chaos to hit six monsters for 750% damage. I don't know what its damage used to be, but I believe Wind Piercing used to actually be worse than Arrow Bomb and Iron Arrow as it could only hit three monsters.

Would that make it better now?

Yeah, it's a lot better now, but both Archers have better mob attacks in third job. Arrow Rain and Arrow Eruption are both able to hit up to ten monsters at level 30, and Inferno and Blizzard are able to hit six monsters for 400% damage along with their elemental attributes and status effects. Wind Piercing's usefulness is rather low, and I can only see it being used in a situation where the player wants to hit a mob, but the mob is spread out across a flat platform and the monsters furthest away wouldn't be hit by anything else. Also, after 120, Marksmen get Piercing Arrow, which is infinitely better than Wind Piercing, and after Jump Bowmasters get Ultimate Inferno which I believe is able to hit up to 12 monsters for 600% damage.

In all honesty, Wind Piercing isn't worth losing the bonus hp and extra inventory slots received from first and second job advancements. If you really want Wind Piercing, I recommend you make a normal explorer and get Wind Piercing through those god forsaken quests at level 70.
