A Doctor Who thread in SP? I've been meaning to start watching Doctor Who for a long while now, I guess this is a sign to start. I have quite a few seasons to go until I catch up with you guys, though.
^ Knowing Moffat, it's probably not... he lives to troll us of all our expectations. If it is, though, I'ma be mad.

A new Whovian may soon be among us! Seriously, you'll love it, I already got my old roommate into watching it.
And here I was hoping she was going to have more regenerations. River Song being Amy's best friend all this time was a mind screw, and so was the robot full of mini humans. I think we can confirm River is NOT the eye patch lady due to no way she can regenerate into her. I think.
Was not expecting that. When Mels showed up i was like.. Who the hell is that? a bit late to be introducing a new character. Then suddenly.. RIVER! again. Am i the only one getting sick of the whole River Song thing now? we know how she was born, how she died and everything in between and its just getting boring.
Towards the end of the episode i was totally expecting the Doctor to die and for River to become the new Doctor.. I'm honestly quite disappointed that didn't happen, it would have been a hell of a better plot twist.
Well, whatever. as long as the rest of the series is interesting. I'm curious as to how the Doctor will cheat death in the finale.
Also I enjoyed the flashback in the episode. River's epic, so overall I had to say the episode was relatively entertaining, but it was kind of a let down. It wasn't as exciting as I had hoped it would be.
@IllegallySane: It could still be a past regeneration. It seemed as if she was able to control her regenerations just as the Master can control his. So maybe when she was a toddler she was older than we would have expected?
Why do I feel like we've been taken on a detour to get more lives for the Doctor?
I'd be very disappointed if all it takes is 1 episode to "fix" Melody's brainwashing and alleged psychopathy. Especially since all that had happened was Melody being impressed by the Doctor writhing determinedly on the floor and suddenly deciding to take her parent's word seriously.
Still looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing more of the Silence, and hopefully some further explanations about the Flesh.

I just sort of assumed that Eye Patch Lady couldn't be River, because otherwise she'd end up holding her infant self and that usually causes pyrotechnics to go off. River herself refused to show up until after the baby had gone. But then I do remember a shot of River wearing an eye patch in the trailer... Maybe the eyepatch is some sort of equipment used by members of the Silence?

Spoiler
Yeah, The Silence is a religion who are against The Doctor. River can age (as proven when Mels grows from a child, to a teenager, to an adult) so the eyepatch lady COULD in fact be River when she's aged a lot. She was only part time-lord and has lost that part now. We still have a lot of River to catch up on.
Why is she in prison? She said she killed the greatest man she knew.
Why did The Doctor tell her his name? He only tells people he trusts 110%. Linked with the last episode name; "The Wedding of River Song".
Why has she turned to the silence, if the eyepatch is for them, or is she undercover?
Also, we've seen The Doctor die as Matt Smith, pretty much ruling out any more regenerations. But, The Doctor, Amy and Rory are confirmed for the next season so we know they all survive this half of a series :/. I wish Karen didn't leak that tbh.

I think the rest of this series is going to be spent wriggling out of that problem. There won't be any more regenerations before then, but who knows what's going to happen after?

Episode 8
Did you guys all forget the fact that River Song has already died, looking pretty much the exact same way as we've seen her now? :f6:
And it's almost certain that she kills the Doctor. I mean, that's what was said in the episode, though of course we can't be sure that the people saying it didn't just assume it was her based on the space suit and all.
