So, I just received a letter that I was accepted into Kennesaw State University in Georgia. I was totally speechless because I remembered the reason I applied there in the first place. My ex.
The day I applied there was around the time where him and I were on good terms. I thought it'd be a good idea to go ahead and try it since it couldn't hurt. Later on, he said we're better off as friends, and I went along with it since we'd still be talking on a friend level (so I thought). At this time, we haven't FULLY talked in weeks. When I say fully, I mean without it being cut off after a few text messages. I'm starting to think the friendship is breaking off.
Today, I check my messages and I had spaced out on the fact I applied there. I got in.
Now, my dilemma is that I don't know whether or not it's a good idea to transfer out. Right now, I'm filled with anxiety, and regret. I don't want to go because of him, and quite frankly, I don't want to be near him. I just want to forget about him and move on. I'm more over him that I was before but seeing that I'd be in his area, I'm not sure what I should do. It may be a better opportunity and yet it may not.
Pros of leaving:
1. New environment and new people.
2. Get to see the people I met during the summer.
3. Continue college.
4. SNOW! (hopefully)
5. Leave family. (they irritate me sometimes)
Cons of leaving:
1. I don't know what I'd do if I saw him again.
2. Student loans...
3. Adds another year or 2 onto my college career.
4. Leave friends and family (I'd miss things like my mom's birthday and Thanksgiving and such).
Right now, nothing anyone else tells me will sink in my head. Honestly, the fact that I'd have student loans (I've gone loan free so far) and I'd have a longer college career make me believe this isn't worth it. Not only that, but with him around, it wouldn't do me much good.
You should continue with college if it will help you in the real world. Idk why you're going but don't go to add 2 years onto a resume, if you learn valuable information then do it.
But don't let him stop you from going if you really want too, it'll be a fun experience maybe.
I say you just go. (Unless you have another college to go too..?)
I'm currently enrolled in a university already. The idea of transferring came from my high school teachers/counselors but I never gave it any consideration until I was with him. I only really wanted to transfer to be closer to his area and not make it long distance. The only other reason to transfer is because people say it'll be good for me to explore and to make new friends, but none of that appeals to me.
I could stay here and finish my college career in 2.5years or I can go out there and finish in 3 years.
pineapple transferring then stay in your college. No need to go there if you can stay home and be happy. Are you fine at your college? If it's not bad there's no reason at all to transfer now.
If it offers no academic advantage and only brings on more student debt then I say no. Yes you get to get out and "explore" and "meet new people" and all that fancy crap, but I'd rather be annoyed as hell around family than take on a lot of student debt for nothing but a group of friends you'll lose when you leave.

I'm fine at my college, but at the same time, I feel like there's not much left for me here. The only reason why I say I'm fine is because I'm free here in college, but once I go home, I'm trapped. Don't have my own car, have to be home by a certain time, and often having to deal with my parents yelling makes me want to get out.

Good point. I'm not sure if the learning is better or worse, but as far as I can tell, a degree is a degree regardless of where you get it (well....excluding Ivy Leagues and such).
And that's also why I'm still living at home instead of somewhere else. It's free(ish). I don't have any student loans and I'm happy about that. Unless something interests me (say, going to Japan) and it causes me to have loans, I'd willingly do it.
But I don't see any other incentive in transferring at the moment. The last thing I need is to lose friends when/if I leave.

Surprisingly, it does snow there. It snowed there last year and the year before last. Yet, the San Francisco Bay Area got snow last year for the first time in like...decades I heard.

Well dam! o_o
Well, how will it be stupid? Explain :O
And also, I don't know when I have to accept this offer by, so I'm taking in as much advice as I can as soon as I can.

Your last comment makes me wonder if you haven't already made up your mind to stay.
It sounds like too much of a hassle to transfer. Good luck either way. ^_^
Even right now, I haven't made up my mind to do anything. I'm leaning towards staying, but is it really worth missing this opportunity? Not sure.
I've talked to most of my friends that are in the area and they're all telling me I should do it. I haven't talked to any of my friends here yet. I want to get advice from others that are impartial about it. Or at least from those whom don't know me in real life and will say something like "I'LL MISS YOU MAN! DON'T LEAVE ME!".

I have no idea what I want to do now. Apparently, the education is far better there than here and it only costs slightly more if I were an in-state student.
With off-campus/dorming, of course that'd increase to about $8,000+ extra, but it really worth it?
