Suprised to see there's no thread for this yet. The team behind the well-reviewed and popular 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors has just announced another game in the "Extreme Escape Adventures" series (999 had this subtitle in its Japanese release). It's not a direct sequel to 999, but a few elements are the same and the cast appears totally new with the exception of a few characters who happen to look like 999 characters. Expect another crazy story, room exploration, and puzzles. Also worth noting that they're using 3D animation in this game.

Betrayal and backstabbing were brought up in 999, but it appears to be more central to the story in this game. It's been described as a "backstabbing game" in the video. Although the concept of the Nonary Game and getting to the 9 door to escape returns, the idea of backstabbing comes up as more central to this game and also, it obviously takes place somewhere else.
I want to hear some theories before I post my own. Be sure to spoiler anything from the first 999 if you want to bring it up.
