I got 6 attack 7 str, 3% str first try, and I'm happy about it after I did the math:

Chance of chaos scroll increasing attack by 3-5: 60% * (3/11) = 16%
Chance of 3 scrolls raising your attack: 0.16^3 = 0.44%
Average amount of tries to archieve this: 0.0044^-1 = 228
Chaos scrolls needed on average (considering you stop scrolling after each fail): 228*(1-16%) + 2* 228*(16%)*(1-16%) + 3* 228*(16%)^2*(1-16%) + 3 = 271
Mesos needed, considering 25m/CS and 7.5m/cleanshoulder: 228*7.5 + 271 * 25 = 8.51b

And that's not even considering your primary stat being nice, or a 90% potential blowing it up.

That is why using chaos scrolls is completely not worth it.

With the silent crusader shoulder enhancement scrolls, you have .5^3 = 12.5% chance of passing all 3 and getting 11 all stat, 8 atk/matk. Expected cost is less than 300m.

This is why I stockpiled on the Chaos back in the anniversary. So I could have a bunch of them to throw around in case of something like this shoulder.

I think it's more of a reference to an item everyone "must have". You know, how back before potential existed, everyone had WG's.

I do, however, wonder why Strong Mechanical Gloves aren't being bought and sold throughout the free market now that any tier 2 and below item is generally inferior to any tier 3 item. I rarely see them in stores, and I see even fewer that have been scrolled or have potential on them.

They aren't as readily available (correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you make them via professions) and people scrolling end-game gloves go for Von Leon.
There are also so many already scrolled SCG's to use until you can make your "final" glove, so people can opt into those instead of scrolling themselves.

Do effing want. Mine's only 3 line Epic with 6% Int at the moment. Stopped there until I finish cubing my Glove, which is 3 line Unique but refusing to show any % Int.

They are untradeable and cannot be scissored (as of now).
They are sold from the Silent Crusade Supply Box for 7.5m each (clean). You have to do a series of quests to buy them, though.
