Give her a break, Sarah. She just mixed up gallons and litres. That's all.
I havent really been following US politics much, but...does this girl actually have a chance to become president? Cause if she does...God help us all...literally.

Obama again? I wouldn't put it past you, but you should look past party values and look for the reasons each individual want to become president and their values. And as of yet, Obama hasn't done much of what he said he would.

1. Not entirely his fault.
2. Not having done anything is better than the sheer amount of screw ups a Republican would have made.

That's kind of their place as a party. I had this exact discussion with someone yesterday and yeah, it was made pretty clear that Republicans are terrible. If a democrat tried to do any of the pomegranate republicans get away with they would be burned at the stake. But they wouldn't because democrats are founded in logic and morality while republicans make unsubstantiated claims and somehow the general public just loves it. I do not understand.
This is also why Obama couldn't win in the financial debate a few weeks ago. Unlike the republicans--and the tea baggers, especially--he cares about the country and had no choice but to back down. While he was willing to push it, there's no way he would've let the country go into financial ruin just to prove a point. The republicans absolutely would have because they DON'T care.

Reply:
#1 I know, It was both parties faults on that end, even though he didn't mention half the things he said he was going to do when he arrived.
#2 The Democrats have done as many if not more than screw ups than the Republics.
Also @Rick. Do you ever consider equality over dominance? Because too much left is always a bad thing, and too much right is a bad thing. Yet you seem far left wing and deny every single thing Republicans do say or attempt to do. I don't disagree or agree with either side all the time, but at least I'm not a passive-aggressive peach to whoever sides with the opposite party every once in a while.

More like he can`t. Like I said before, with the way the system works in the US, it makes it very hard for a President to get promises he/she made a reality just because, not only do you have to deal with the opposite party, you sometimes would have to deal with your own.
While the far right republican bashing is fun and all. There were a good many republicans who, like Obama, called for both parties to just put the ideology aside and do something for the sake of the country.

John McCain has been pretty good recently. True republicans aren't really bad, it's the tea baggers.

Frum's point is true though. Our entire picture of the right is completely defined by the far right republicans and the tea party, only because they whine and scream the loudest.

The problem in this country is that everyone is desperately convinced that you're either Republican or Democrat. When in reality, no only could you just form a new party (lol tea party is not real), you could also go independent. I forgot why a two party system is efficient, to me, it always seem like they're terribly dead locked or more concerned with party support and obligation than with the actual country.
And from an objective point- Republicans are mostly a mess. They are so ugly right now there are republicans who are disgusted of other republicans. Democrats aren't flawless, but they are doing better than republicans.

A two-party system isn't efficient. With 3 or more parties, you have a broad spectrum of ideas covering the majority of the people. I'm always thinking, geez, if you don't like Republicans or Democrats, vote Green! I do know that some countries in the world have multiple parties holding seats, major ones, and less major ones. It'd be nice if our independent parties here in the U.S. weren't so small though. I'd love for my party, the Green party, to be able to jump into the political spotlight, but it's too small. That's why I support the Democrats right now, because their platform is closest to the Green platform. It would also be nice to see the Libertarian party in the mix as well. Another great factor that would make this work even better would be mandated voting. Don't they have that in Australia?

So apparently I'm now hearing something about her not knowing that the USSR became Russia, and that this is her excuse...

American politics can basically be summed up as:
1. General public is completely retarded
2. Republicans ruin everything
3. Democrats are frighteningly ineffectual
4. The media is more concerned about random dead white women than actual important things
Obviously there are good politicians and bad politicians, but there's so much petty bullshit infighting over things as simple as civil rights that nothing in Congress gets done in a timely or effective manner. Unless something happens soon, the country's pretty much fucked. A Palin or Bachmann (or hell, Perry) election will just seal the deal.

I don't mean to be cynical, but I unfortunately have to agree with you...
