Xenoblade Chronicles.

This is an awareness thread.


Xenoblade Chronicles is coming out soon for EU and AUS (August 19, 2011 and September 1, 2011) with no plans for a NA release at the moment. So this thread is for people in those areas or those who import games.

Anyway, first off for anyone who is wondering Xenoblade doesn't have a connected to either Xenogears or Xenosaga besides being made by some of the same people and a few cameo like things.


If you have a Wii I suggest picking it up, and even if you don't live in EU and AUS you might want to import it if you enjoy RPG's.

Don't import it. But if you live in those areas then yes, you should buy it. Importing it provides NoA less incentive to localize it because that's one more copy they won't sell here and they're already being douches about it.

Though, when all is said and done, Nintendo will localize it eventually. Everyone should wait it out before they jump on importing it if they intend to regardless of what harm it could potentially do to the other future titles that have an iffy future in this region. Nintendo is in no position to ignore their fans right now but the same time they can't just bow down to us so they have to announce it strategically. It will come.

I'm tempted to buy it due to the hype its receiving, but at the same time i'm not 100% interested so it could end up half finished on my shelf for like a year (hello Epic Mickey)

I'm asking it for my birthday (on the 29th) because I wouldn't really have anything to ask otherwise. I watched the first 2 hours or so on a stream(someone managed to get it early), which were really freaking epic. The dub seems to be really good, and there's still the Japanese version for those that don't like the dub.

Time to sink another ~150 hours into the Wii.

I've been playing it since I got the chance to today, and hot damn, this game is good. I mean, I was expecting great things, but damn. What the hell is nintendo of america thinking not releasing this?

Although, I am very annoyed with Nintendo Europe advertising 3 Preorder bonus posters and then 2 days before the game came out, saying the people they had openly advertised with links to the product page on the website IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, after having the article up since early july, announcing, yeah, actually, you only get those 3 posters for buying it in store. All the preorders were shipped on tuesday, and the game cost slightly more from the retailers that were supposed to be giving out the posters. Thanks a lot nintendo.

It's a good job the game is really good or i'd be even more annoyed at getting screwed over by preorder bonuses again.

On another note, since NoA said they were watching europe sales carefully, seeing as NoE has already sold through it's intial stock and several of the biggest online UK retailers for games have sold out of it. And stores have not only heard of it (which is a big enough miracle for something thats not a shooter) but have been reported being either completly sold out by midday or only having enough stock to fill the preorders. Granted, NoE might not have had high expectations, but this is surely good news.

America might be in luck yet...

I had that with Brawl too. It's because it's a multilayered disc (2 audio options, like 5 language options, and a huge game is a lot of data). My Wii can play Brawl again (it just didn't work randomly for like 1 month).

9 more days until I have it. The wait is killing me (so is avoiding spoilers).

I don't think Battlefield is garbage, but I literally (seriously literally) walked up to the nearest wall and smashed my forehead against it when DrRusty brought up that video.

The only "bad" thing about Xenoblade are it's graphics(mainly textures and the walking animations on (some) characters), and if you're really going to judge a game on just graphics you're doing it wrong. Also, it's a freaking Wii game with ~100 hours of content (which isn't just random grinding but actual quests). That and the render distance is freaking amazing, which allows for really great sights (and you can get to what you're seeing in the distance).

well I guess i'm just not the single player RPG kind of guy. I've played games like final fantasy and they're iight, but MMOs are more suited to my tastes.

If there isn't a way to troll and own people, then it's just no fun

It's got a 91 on Metacritic right now. NoA doesn't really seem to care about core gamers, and the only reason they seem to be making the Wii U is because they want money from the big multiplatform releases. Japan and Europe seem to be fine with their releases though, so I'll still buy a Wii U (especially if Monolith is going to make something for it). Let's hope NoA realises that there's more people that buy games other than little kids, families, Nintendo fans, and people that like multiplatform titles (you know, like the guys that played FFVI on the SNES).

... WoW? I personally feel that MMOs are just online games with an RPG attached as a feature, not an RPG that has online elements.

I've heard it said that this game plays like FFXII.

Is this true? I just don't wanna waste connection speed on a ~9GB file unless it's worth it.
