First asian to succeed in American music industry?
#1
Korean singer BoA just recently debuted her song in the states! since her management people aren't too bright she will probably flop but oh well, I bought her single from itunes and you should too!!

PRETEND THE TITLE SAYS DOMINATE INSTEAD OF SUCCEED.

Decent song (very end is retarded, though), I guess. I used to be a pretty big BoA fan a couple years ago, but I stopped following her when her songs started to go downhill. I dunno. Haha I'll always prefer her Korean and Japanese songs.

^ I prefer her earlier stuff too. Recently her sales have been declining reallllly badly in Japan so I sort of see this American thing as a last ditch effort idk. BoA never was one of my favorite artists but I think she could use the support here.

And yet, we still can't get something unique. Woo. Another pop singer with a superficial "heartfelt" love/sex song. As if that hasn't existed since the 80s.

What the hell happened to good music? Music with integrity and purpose? Ugh.

Good music is not mainstream. It's Sad But True :f6:

As for BoA, I've never heard of her, and I'm sure the video that was posted will be the last time I hear of her. She may pop up on Mtv2 for a few weeks, then fade away into obscurity...

Cool, but I've never been much of a BoA fan and I won't turn into one just because she is asian, lol. Good luck to her though. Tongue

I could listen to Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and STP for hours and sing to every song without getting sick of them.

EDIT: ...and Phil Collins.

STOPPPPP. All those awesome bands!!!! I would add Tool, NIN, Soundgarden to that list =)
But Sad but True? Thats one of metallicas most "commercial" albums. Wicked riff though.

Speaking of Phil Collins, this is an AD screening in australia atm.

You know how Americans are with mainstream music. She wouldn't stand a chance if she made a "unique" song. It would just be a waste of money, at least with this type of music she has a chance.

Utada's English album got virtually no promotion, and it debuted at like #160 Frown She's releasing a second English album soon so we will see how that does.

"BoA and even former employees were not able to hide their surprise," a SM representative said after they were notified of how BoA managed to make her way up onto Amazon and iTunes charts. "It's a good start because we didn't publicly release the song nor do promotions. It will accelerate her growth from being Asia's Diva to a Worldwide Diva."

Next week BoA will go around TV stations in the U.S. to start full-scale promotional activities. She will go on local radio stations, tv programs and visit music stores to promote and increase awareness .

SM revealed that they will be taking highlights from the Eat You up mv by director Cha Eun Taek and showing them on large screens in New York and Los Angeles. The promotional video will be shown every 2 minutes at New York's Broadway and will continously be shown at LA's Wilshire Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The large screen promotions will continue for the next 3 months revealing other various clips in sequential order.
Plans on releasing her first album early next year and having a national tour have not changed. The title track off her album Look Who's Talking, which is a strong song but is not by the same team that made Eat You Up. The song has been completed along with the choreography.[/COLOR]
