Okay, didn't took SS, but I finally finished Magatia quests. The Black Mage seem to really have ACHIEVED immortality, and Dr. De Lang tried to copy his experiments, ending up in great explosion that destroyed half of magatia.
With this info, I guess we'll be looking for the seal stones again, or hunt for the Black Mage horcruxes to finally kill him. (LOL) I'll now try to finish the Pink Bean storyline and be completly sure that the guy who summons he is nothing but a random guy. Such dissapointment there. No news about the new area? It's almost certain Akyrum will be the new boss and all, but well, a man can dream.

The ToT expansion is nice, but I wan't some an expansion for a certain place. *Cough*.

The ONLY way MS2 would actually pay off is if it's set in an entirely new world, new dimension and everything. What NEXON has done with the Temple of Time(and if they finish off Elin and make a past world) is make MapleStory have a sequel and a prequel inside it's OWN game. Think about it(just forget about the future dream world thing for a minute). If MS2 was really gonna be a sequel we would just end up with the world destroyed like the Temple shows us. HOWEVER we already have that. So making a sequel off of that is rather pointless because we already have it and can be expanded upon very easily. Secondly in regards to the past. If that file someone had of what looked like past Leafre shows up, then you have your prequel. The world of the Black Mage. NEXON could even take it back further in time from there. When Elin finally gets touched on and completed, you have your past world right there. tl;dr: 1)NEXON made MS one of the most complete MMOs adding in both the past and future in its gameplay, not just hearing stories of it. 2)Ms2 would only work if it's in a different dimension and world

Or, of course, they could go with my original theory in that the last thing you do in MS1 is defeat the Black Mage. (except for non storyline based updates and ads/teasers for MS2) Then, your goal in MS2 is to save the world from the remnants of the Black Mage. However, you start getting hints of a higher power, like the floating Black Rocks of Sleepywood, and the inner sanctuary as soon as the release of the game. You then progress into a totally new storyline regarding the Goddess' mirror, and inter-dimensional travel, leading to a whole new storyline filled with power much greater than Ol' Blacky, entirely new class options, TONS of new map content as well as redesigns of old map content to go with the whole future/past concept that also goes with the mirror. Perhaps nine years after MS2 is released, there will be a thread like this, except about the mysteries of the Maple Universe! Could be about an even bigger baddie, or maybe when we'll finally meet the Gods/Goddesses that have controlled everything so far... EDIT: at the Neo City thing, 90% sure it's non canon.

Can someone point me to whenever it says future henesys/ereve are only a dream and not the real future?

It's also strongly implied from when you first show present Neinheart a Dream Fragment: "Yes, here we are. One of our informants gave me a report on this matter. It's related to a follower of the Black Mage with the power to create dream worlds. I hadn't verified it yet... Where did you find this Dream Fragment?" As for the Maplestory 2 aside, I'm in the camp that believes Maplestory 2 will have little to nothing to do with the original Maplestory. To continue after any specific plot point in the original would mean that the original, obviously, could not continue past that point. If the original couldn't continue, then, plot-wise, it dies. That's a bad situation for an MMO to be in.

I'm in this sort of place right now where I want to get this whole Black Mage thing over with, because there's just SO many ways they could keep us guessing for a very long time, and my control freak personality simply wont stand for that. While at the same time, I can't have this mentality without also coming to the realization that Maple's going to end, eventually. I guess I'm letting this confliction influence my opinions too much...

I guess I'm letting this confliction influence my opinions too much...I think you may be confusing my point. My belief that Maplestory 2 won't have anything to do with the original stems from the fact that the former is being developed by a completely different team and that they're likely going to run concurrently. The release of Maplestory 2 doesn't have to mean the end of the original Maplestory. That said, believe me, I understand exactly where you're coming from... I pineappleing hate when fictional works stretch out the primary plot for no real (i.e. story beneficial) reason. It's something that seriously pisses me off because it's just bad story telling. I don't think Maplestory has reached that point, though. However, if it takes more than one big update after the last Hero touches ground for the Black Mage to be revealed, the shark will have officially been jumped. SwordStaker Wrote:You don't see WoW make a sequel do youNo. What relevance does that have to anything? WoW has already demonstrated the ability to let the story march on, despite the fact that playing old content is like going back in time.

Because what it seems like is that the door is open, and you can get in, but when you get in, it's a possible future that this guy made and is showing you, mainly to scare the living bejeezus out of you and demoralize you (incidentally, also making you stronger). This future still could happen, you must realize. It's one of many possible futures.

But, yeah, that's exactly what the dream is meant to be: a discouragement. It could theoretically occur, but there are a lot of "maybes" in the way. Namely, Cygnus would have to actually be obsessed with finding the World Tree and empowering the Cygnus Knights so that they could take the glory. However, the very fact that Cygnus has allied with the Adventurer instructors would indicate that she's swallowed her pride and is willing to let others shine as long as it's for the good of Maple. Personally, I am doubtful that the Gate to the Future will ever truly be opened. I do expect that we'll see more altered futures (and, likely, altered pasts).

It depends on how far the "Past" really is in MS1, they can easily set MS2's storyline to be thousands of years before Ellin Forest. Vindictus is set like 5000 years in the past of Mabinogi, what's there to say they won't do a similar timeline for MS2? Just because MS1 has a "Future" and "Past" doesn't mean MS2 can't go FURTHER into the future or past than that of MS1. If the Black Mage ends up being the "End all be all" final boss or whatnot, then they could set MS2's storyline to be X thousand of years into the future after the Black Mage's defeat; Or they could go into the past to BEFORE the Black Mage came into power and have it go up to his "Defeat" from the Heroes. There's a ton of options Nexon has at their hand for an idea of MS2. SwordStaker Wrote:You don't see WoW make a sequel do you Warcraft IV will be the sequel to WoW, if it ever finishes / dies. Confimed.
After Joe's translation, it seems that there is also a general "아카이럼" to fight. Seems to be after the quests of our Cross Bridage thingy (ripoff?) called Cross Hunter. It'll be an expedition, that general will have many new attacks, and drops the Dominator Pendant, Immortal Ring Set, Eternal Ring Set, and other thingys. Other things in the update: Joe's translation. |
