How did MapleStory Make You Smile Today?
#1
Post your stories of positive/rewarding random encounters in MapleStory that made you smile. It could be because you acheived a particular goal, or you were assisted by a random stranger, you had a fun guild/PQ run, you had a fun airship ride, or you scored an awesome item in the market place, etc.

It's so easy to hate and complain about Nexon/MapleStory (albeit, sometimes rightly so), I think it's high time that we shared happy stories about the game that many of us spend time playing.

I'll start! I went to Leafre for the first time yesterday and I was tickled pink by the absurdedly adorable "airship" that takes you there from Orbis! What the hell is that thing!?

I proceeded to immediately get myself lost as soon as I landed and was pleasantly surprised when I found myself temporarily turned into a dragon and flew to the Temple of Time.

I eventually found my way and was able to finish the hog quest and got my first mount! The whole process (other than the pained parting from 20 million mesos) was very Biggrin

I was goin to ludibrium in my Fire/Poison mage, when I met this Ice/Lighting girl mage around my lvl who turn out to be a really nice person. We talked for about half an hour an enjoyed being around each other. Something really unexpected to have at 2 a.m., but it was a nice suprise indeed.

I landed two Earring for DEX 60%'s on my 3% DEX earrings. Which is kind of like a woohoo! but it made me smile because right before that I landed zero out of seven 30% Bow for ATKs on my Pyrope Bow.

I gave a random Demon Slayer free 3% str earrings. Later that day, someone gave me the same earrings, except with 3% dex.

Feels good to be good.

I knew I'd like you. Awesome thread idea.

Didn't play much today, but I think one thing that stood out the most was two of my guild members placing a bet that one would talk 'proper' for a whole day.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to be thoroughly amused.

No, but you apparently have already gotten that wish. *looks at "born again"*

I got my Dual Blader to 120 and advanced today. I also got my Jewel Crafting to 7 and made a friend happy by crafting him a face accessory.

Not just him, but to everyone. I know a lot of people hate MapleStory, but there is still a good number of us who actually still enjoy this game. This is a thread for all the happy times we have on MapleStory and if you can't post something nice, then this isn't the thread for you.

I believe Joe actually does still play, albeit not so often. That's just his humor.

I could be wrong. I just found the comment extremely hostile and unnecessary.

This constitutes teh achievement thread's idea, but also has things that aren't "achievements," just things that made you happy or smile, like Eliseo meeting a random girl, or Sufian getting into czak, or hell, Belinda getting lost in the ToT.

The two ideas mesh together too much. Things that are achievements are going to get posted here, but things that make you smile won't necessarily be posted in the achievement thread.

Is that bad or good?
I like the idea of this thread more, anyhow.
The achievement thread always seems like that stuff is much bigger than what I do. A lot of it is people soloing bosses, or passing MW30 or other big MB's, but this is just things that make you smile. It could be going in with a group at zak and everyone dying but you, and you finishing it off with seconds to go, or getting OS30 from a Mystery Mastery Book, or finding a guild that's really nice.

Eye of the beholder.

Takebacker's right about how they mesh, though.

An achievement is an achievement. It's worth is completely up to the poster. An achievement would be something you did, whereas something that makes you smile could be anything. Doesn't mean there should only be one thread. It just means there really isn't that much difference between the two so more posts are going to go in the achievement thread than this one.

I think, actually, that more posts are going to go to this thread, or they'll be fairly evenly split, pending sticky. Just because as has been mentioned, the Achievement thread has a lot of bigger things that may put some people off from posting. Whereas this thread has some "smaller" things in it. Which, as we all know, are more common than those big once in a character thing like MW30.
