THAT wolrd tree has never appeared in any version of MapleStory. It's supposed to be holding the entire maple world I believe. Though I must agree is the most powerful item anyone can get his/her/it's hands on. I would guess the Black Mage already got to it, and that's how he became all mighty. Still, can someone fully check Magatias quests? I know there is a big clue there, but I havn't done them in over a year.

The thing I'm looking for is that the Black Mage obtained immortality, and that's why the 5 heroes sealed him, rather than kill him. As of now I have no way to confirm this but to remake all quests with another character, which would take me a few hours.

I'm spanish, so my english isn't perfect, and you got the message. Either contribute, or just shut up. And I'm just saying that overall. I'm ending this here in an attempt to save the thread.

I'm just digging through .xml extractions of a couple of the .wz files, so my searching methods are far from efficient, but I see no mention of the Black Mage being immortal.

I do seem to remember him being mentioned in Magatia though. I just can't remember where.
I wonder if my Pali has done those quests...

I think thats right at least, its been a while since i did those quests.

But i'm guessing that it must have been before he was sealed away, and the Heroes clearly believed they could stop him, so i doubt he actually achieved immortality.

I could swear I saw that he achieved it, and that's when all hell broke loose in Maple Story, with the Black Mage having immortality by his side, and lack of adventurers other than the 5 heroes. Going to re-do the quests it seems.

What exactly is stopping us from killing the Black Mage right now? It took 5 heroes to defeat him before, as there were no other adventurers. Now we have the main force (Explorers) the back up (Cygnus Knights) the reinforcements (Resistance) AND the original Legends and descendants, Plus the fact that the Black Mage is still weak and mostly sealed (as far as i'm aware)

I'm at victoria still. I'll go eat while the dam 15minute ride takes me all the way there. Hope the quests wont take me too long to do.

I've been wondering something similar to this as well. Mostly what made the Heroes so damn special.
I mean, we may only have three of the Heroes at the moment, but I'm pretty sure everyone else would make up for the final two.

Granted, I think a big obstacle right now is that we don't know exactly where the Black Mage is.
I mean, we're assuming he's behind Door #2, but if the Mercedes and Slayer videos were depictions of the past, then that's not very helpful.

I can see Neinheart being the Black Mage, really. He tries to dissuade the Empress Cygnus from helping Mercedes, is the only non-corrupted person in Future Ereve, and looks just... menacing.
I can't see him being a hero, he's too wussy to be a pirate or a thief. But, he's been with cygnus for however long she's been in power, which is quite some time...

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but Tru makes it sound like the people from Rien can endure The black mage's magic a bit, due to living on an island that is covered by his curse for so long(The clan itself was there for centuries, so Neinheart and Lilin were probably born there.). Maybe this would explain why the future curse didn't effect him?

How exactly does it make sense to have a magical mirror, a mirror only able to be wielded properly by the aforementioned "comatose" (only not really, she's just sleeping) goddess who exists in another dimension, exist in a throne room in our dimension?

Oh come on, you know what I mean... none of any of this makes any sense. The point I'm trying to make is WHY is the goddess' incredibly powerful mirror simply sitting at an altar, as you call it, and more importantly why the past? What about memory lane even signifies that it's in the past, other than the words "memory" and "regret" which are past tense. Nothing else, as far as I see it, signifies that memory lane is the door to the past. It's nothing like doom hene/ereve, and doesn't share anything about what went on in the past... You're not really going to disregard my point based on a technicality, are you?

As for your other thing, it's obviously able to be wielded by the dude that released Pink Bean, so it's not exclusive to the goddess. It's just a remnant of her power.

Sounds like everyone else didn't exactly what he needed them to do.
Also, he's a member of the Black Wings, so....

hence the whole team rocket analogy. The head honcho (in that case) did all the work, while the bosses you fought only blurred the perception of what they're trying to do besides attack you.


to other posts: I'm pretty sure we know where the Goddess is, as apparently we have the means to wake her up...so...we kind of NEED to know her location for that, or at least know that she doesn't exist in the Maple World.

And, yeah, I really like this nightmare story, seems really interesting, the Goddess' own personal nightmare that feeds off of the evil in the maple world. An unkillable foe with tons of storyline behind it. Nice catch, shinku/razmos.
