I would much rather then fix the problem then waste time just to say "sorry we don't know when we'll be done please stand by." Just get it fixed then come back and say games up here's what happened, servers got knocked out by whatever it was since you all missed 2x today we will be doing A,B and C as compensation have a nice days. Wasting time to get the servers up enough just to say we don't know when said work will be done is a waste of time.

Thing is. It's not really about the message that "This is going to take a while". Granted posting will take like 5 minutes max to craft a viable and acceptable (ish) response. The whole point of PR work is to make sure that the public knowss (or at least thinks) you care about them.

Take Congress for example. This past few weeks, they were arguing over the debt cieling and budget woes and what not. Obama came onto the television and talked to people saying "Oh it'll be a little while" or "I'm trying very hard to get people to work together so we can fix the problem". He didn't explicitly say that something was in the works, or specifically what the problem was that was holding Congress back, but he told us SOMETHING about the problem. When The question of social security checks came out "Are we gonna get paid? What happens to our money?" Obama came out with a response.

That's what Nexon needs to do- Give the impression that they care about the consumers enough to tell them, good or bad, that something is happening.

What would those people, who were wondering about their social security checks, done if Obama had NOT told them that their checks may not arrive on time? They probably would have done what people are doing now with Nexon- "OMG These gaiz suck so hard! wtp are they doing?" And "OMG etend the 2x! OMG extend my CS items!"

And like our parents have always told us (or not)- "It's the thought that counts".

Faces can be made in the "Go Advanced" posting section, also by putting colons around the maplestory designated hotkey for that expression. If it's not a maplestory standard (f1, f2, f3, f4, etc.), then it's something like glitter (), kiss (), heart (), hothead (), redface (), cool (), wink (), shine (), eek (), excellent (), monocle (), blush (), ohno (), poast (), goggle (), pineapple (), and chin ().

I feel like this discussion about posting ETAs or status reports goes on every single time there's an unscheduled server check. I don't think Nexon's going to change the way things work regarding there notices anytime soon. At the same time, Worthyness, they do post status updates on Facebook and Twitter regarding the maintenance, it's just not as specific as you would want it to be.

Completely understand that. I was here back when we got Ariant, and that was horrible. But by now, because it's been 12 hours, I feel like maybe people can start to shimmer down? Relax and whatnot. Cause if the last 12 hours are anything to go by, the game's not gonna be up anytime soon.
