Reasons why you play/used to play MapleStory
#1
Is it the people, the graphics, or something else? I ran a search which turned up nothing, so I thought I'd post this topic.

The people, mostly.

The game loses its luster once you hit 200, though.

The people and market system. And I enjoy getting better and better items for my character. Or getting rich, even tho I fail at it.

I get bored of it yes. I've played MS for over 4.5 years. But when Nexon comes up with new content, I get interested for a while again, then I take a break and wait for more cool content.

In game friends and the music, and the bit of atmosphere that's still left.

Basically, something to spend time on and the comunity, but not ALL the comunity, I only mean the comunity I have made over the years with all my in-game friends.

Also, skills and music are pretty.

Where's the addicted option?

It's just something to do while I listen to audio plays. I actually find it harder to concentrate on them when I'm just sitting still; my mind starts wandering after a while. Sometimes I fold paper stars instead, or help my brother undercoat his space marines.

Well, you had to have a reason why and how you got addicted in the first place.

It's 2-D.

It's funny, the major reason I wanted to try Maple was teamwork. Before I downloaded the game, I saw my cousin in the middle of a party quest, and that got me interested. I was all, "whoa, look at these guys working together". Ah, good times.

Whenever I try to quit, I can't type in an url or search starting with b, m, or s without being reminded.

The Graphics and Music had me sold, and the gameplay fits great with the graphics. Now it's just a mess of bugs and glitches and me getting disconnected out after a few minutes(varies, but I still get disconnected) for no reason.

As corny as this may sound, if you don't play MapleStory for 1-2 years and then come back and hear Henesys Hunting Ground 1 (MEMORIES) music, it takes you back.

As far as friends go, I have one in game friend who still plays on the same character since v0.42 when I hopped on the band waggon. He was 5x then, now hes 15x. :3

I play because my siblings play. It's something we can jointly obsess over.
If we all stopped caring, I'd just stop playing.

That's actually rather funny considering that, when I started playing, everyone constantly berated the music.
I, too, thought it was quite annoying after the umpteenth loop and, therefore, almost always play the game on 'mute'.

Of course, not all of the music is bad.
The same can't be said of the sound effects, which are all absolutely terrible.

May I suggest wiping your browser's history?

First MMO ever. Played for funsies. Then my cousin got really into it, built up mass connections from beta days so i didn't really have to worry about funding for the most part. I made my first million mesos just after level 30. Signed up using fake info, could't reset password (during the age where nexon decided social engineering was bad and changed everyone's passwords for them).

Still play for funsies, but haxers =/= funsies.

It's cute, the community I'm in is fantastic compared to what I remember from Bera, but the major reason I like it over something like Dragon Nest is....

It's a 2D side-scroller. I wish they'd do something more with this element. All the 3D games I play freak out because I use a wacom tablet to do everything. I do get the occasional MS error with this, but it isn't that bad.
