3DS discussion with Tokyo Gameshow Tidbits: Ace Vs. Layton
Definitely makes it affordable, but I still don't see enough games to justify spending that much for the console and the games. Guess I've turned into a PC gamer for a while.

Same for me.
I'm glad I stuck with my plan to not purchase one until the games I'm looking forward to were released. Man, my best friend was absolutely pissed when I told him that they lowered the price after all we went through to get it and OoT:3DS for him.

Oh well, I'm good with waiting, I have got plenty of games stocked up to break out and play.
This is... pretty interesting.

Quote:Nintendo is preparing a paid item transaction system for both 3DS and the forthcoming Wii U.

Speaking at a Q&A on Friday, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said that the system was already in the works, and would be available to developers on the 3DS towards the end of the year.

According to Adriasang, Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto see DLC as means of extending the longevity of their titles, adding new levels and exciting new features that players want.

Iwata also said that low-quality DLC - such as keys or stat boosts - is detrimental to Nintendo's relationship with its customers.

Repeating comments he has made in the past, Iwata rubbished the idea that free-to-play content would appear on the either platform, believing it would damage the premium value of Nintendo's content.

To grow in this area, he earmarked the growth of Nintendo's eShop over the next few years as a main priority.
Im more surprised that Nintendos Chief Exec took a 50% pay cut, as well as other higher ups taking similar paycuts JUST to lower the price of the 3ds.

It's about time they understand how vital DLC is becoming in this type of gaming market. Shocking that it's free?(I guess for 1st party games.)

Pfft. I laughed.

I don't think that's an accurate interpretation of what happened. The stockholders lost a lot of money so the people in charge had to do something to appease their bloodlust. When something you make is failing you can't continue to make big bucks while everyone else pays for your mistakes.

Unless of course you happen to run a bank, in which case, you give yourself a even bigger bonus and call it a day. Or the old western reliable option, firing a ton of employees and leave your pay as it is.

Also: nintendo, DLC? You want to add extra stages and stuff to games you say? But it wasn't worth your time to add any to ocarina huh?Hothead
Of course they took a pay cut they're Japanese.

The DLC will be for 3rd parties, I wouldn't think Nintendo would really use it but time will tell I guess.

Maybe they have been working on finishing Ura Zelda and will release it as DLC, yeah right.
Ocarina of Time 3D -- Holy f'uck, this game is beautiful. I'm never going to play it in 2D again. FFFFFFFF I don't care if I have to take frequent breaks to play it, it's worth it. Switching from 3D to 2D was saddening by the loss of quality. Also, the sound quality is so much better with my headphones plugged in (which is better for everyone else in the house anyway).

I'm satisfied.
Just as a reminder to anyone thinking the 3DS has nothing appealing coming...

Definitely a title I can't wait for. Sarah and her Paper Mario.
There's only one thing that can bring down the sadface to that game.
inb4 it's a rehashed port of PM1.

? It's definitely not. There's nothing in that video from PM1. So if it is somehow a port of PM1 they've added a TON of new features, haha.

But it's not. I'm getting pretty scared that there may not be partners though. At this point we SHOULD know something. I loved having little goombas and goombettes following me around and tattling on enemies.

Quote:...Partners also return after being replaced by the Pixls, with screenshots showing a Chain Chomp that is assumed to be a partner of Mario's. A clip of gameplay footage has shown this Chain Chomp being thrown by its chain in the overworld...

On top of that, I believe Green Toad is another confirmed partner.

Agreed. I absolutely can't wait for Paper Mario 3DS, as soon as the name popped up as an upcoming game, I flipped.

I would be severely disappointed if they didn't continue with the partners... I mean, it would just feel wrong without 'em. Plus I love how unique and special each one is, different from the rest of their species. You know what would be awesome as a partner? A Wiggler. Or, hell, why not a Chargin' Chuck?
GMSInfighter Wrote:On top of that, I believe Green Toad is another confirmed partner.

I want to see this footage your quote mentions of a chain chomp being thrown in the overworld. I haven't seen any battle footage or overworld footage with any partners out. There are screenshots of what look like they would be partners, but the extreme lack of video footage has me worried too. Especially since we've already seen battles, which also seemed to be lacking FP meters. I hope its not that damn item system from the mario and luigi games replacing FP...

And even that's from the later games in the series. The original SuperStar Saga used BP and that worked extremely well.
I'm actually looking forward to the new Kid Icarus game when that comes out o_o Looked pretty cool at E3.
