PvP EXP gain
#1
Did Nexon change something, Ice Knight specifically? I notice that my exp gain per hit changed from 31xx to 31x. Each Ice Knight run now gives me roughly 1% exp. Does not compute.

Or perhaps this is the penalty while 1.5x Battle Point is going on?

Near the start of the battle I get 1931, at the end (last minute) it's 193 exp. Seems to drop over time, I never really pay attention to when it changes.

BP's you get with Ice Knight depend on your + Ice Knight connection.

It's possible for attacks to completely miss (they just don't register) the Ice Knight, giving you a lower score.

It varies a lot, it just depends who the Ice Knight is.

I've noticed this as well. I've seen hits ranging from 13k to 700 exp, all using the same skill and same buffs... doesn't really make sense.

... I get the same score every match: 199 BPs. I'm talking about experience points.

Speaking of PvP EXP, does any mode give more "Battle EXP" or does it entirely vary based on points?

All three modes give Battle Exp. The Battle Points are what's counted as the Battle Exp.

amount of exp you gain drops depending on the number of points you obtain
0-749 -> 100% exp gain
750-999 -> 50% exp gain
1000+(as far as i know of) -> 10% exp gain

im assuming theres a limiter at 2000 droping it to 5% exp gain, but i havent checked.
this would be to prevent different classes getting an advantage in power leveling by just going to pvp. nexon wanted this to be balanced for winners and losers by the end of the match. bp is always 10% of your points at the end of the match, but im sure you all knew that. im winging most of this info since i dont actually want to write down numbers and test the stuff, though im pretty positive thats the table.

Sounds reasonable enough. But I don't recall ever getting anywhere under 1k points in any mode.. Perhaps I was not observant enough.

I posted up some numbers in another thread, the summary being
0-690: 100% exp, gained every 10 points
700-990: 20% exp, gained every 10 points
1000-1490: 10% exp, gained every 10 points.
1500+: 5% exp, gained every 10 points

You also get approximately 3.5 times that after the match. And an additional 30% of that for losing, or 60% for winning. It works the same way - you gain a fixed amount of exp for every 10 points, so eg. scoring 1699 and 1690 are gonna give you the same exp.

So say for an estimate you're getting 1921 exp every 10 points (like my level 141 NL does), and you score 1500+x*10, you'll get
69*1921 + 30*1921*.2 + 50*1921*.1 + x*1921*.05
Then multiply that by 4.5 to get your total exp.
Eg. with 1700 points in a round, x=20 and you get 155601 exp during the match, plus 544603 after the match, plus 163380 (if you lose) or 326761 (if you win), for a total of 863584 = 2.7%.

I haven't figured out the formula for that base exp number yet (1921 for level 141). And I've never scored above 2000 so I can't say where the 5% tier ends.

This means regardless what, getting the highest score possible is still the way to go.

Weird, then how did I manage to get 200% EXP purely from PvP? The time span wasn't big either, I got about 100% exp gain from PvP while farming Emblem for my shoulderpad (roughly 10000 BPs needed). Are other PvP modes any different?

I'm talking entirely Ice Knight mode, looking at screenshots FFA does seem to give roughly 2 times the exp bonus, plus another ~40% for being the #1 spot.

On my NL, gaining 10000 BP would be equal to about 270% gained (through Ice Knight mode). The higher the score per round, the lower the exp gain (since the first 700 points are the most valuable by far - about 87% of the total exp per round - BP gained after that don't contribute much to exp gain). And in fact I have gained 140% so far, with 5700BP, scoring around 1000-1200 per round. So the estimate's not far off.

Point: If you can get into Ice Knight reliably, it may be the best source of exp because you get those first 700 points 1.5 times as often.
