What is the most important part of a video game to you the art style/graphics, gameplay, or story? Curiosity of mine demands me to ask this.
Didn't see a thread discussing this anywhere and I was just wondering. Gameplay is the best part of a game for me really probably why I actually like Final Fantasy V more than the others a lot of choices in class and skills.

Graphics are least important, though the visuals need to not be an eye-sore. Pretty graphics are welcome; I'm especially fond of pixel art and cell-shading. Story is important to me but less than an overall engaging world with lots to do (side quests). Final Fantasy XII is one of my favourite games not only because it had a great story but because I really loved the world.

Yeah having lots to do, but without feeling that is the same thing over and over again is pretty good.
End game content is somewhat important too.
Like sarah said Graphics are welcomed, but it should NOT be 90% of the game like they have been lately. Story too is good, but its more important to have good gameplay above anything else.

Gameplay and storyline. Definitely.
If I have to choose one, I'd say storyline.
If you have the best damn story in the world (includes twists and holy shyt moments), even if it involves me spamming the same move over and over and over again, I will love this game. I will play through it several times until I fully understand the story. And that may take me 3 or 4 times to fully get it.
If the gameplay is the best in the world and involves me doing a whole lot of techniques to get through things, it will keep my interest up until I finish it. And maybe even afterwards if there's a different mode or gameplay style. Once I get through something and know how to beat it, something's gotta change so I don't defeat bosses within a few seconds to a minute.
If you have the best damn graphics in the game, but the story has loopholes or leaves things unanswered, I will feel dissatisfied. Plain and simple. I've noticed that all games I enjoy do not have graphics compared to games that were labeled as "Best. Graphics. Ever."

Graphics definitely come in last place for me. I've played too many games varying greatly between graphics to care whether they're good or not. If the game is based around you playing a character, I really like development within them. Why I like the Gears of War trilogy so much, is because you learn so much about the people you play as and it lures you in for a better experience. The most important aspect of a video game is probably a great correlation between story and environment, similar to what Sarah said

Storyline and Gameplay, especially boss fights. I'll clear a game in an hour if it'll give me a shot at the hardest bosses.

Character design and how they are being brought to life, nothing is more important than that as long as the game and its systems work without being too daft. Since FFXII really is a piece of character epic fail, I cannot agree with Sarahs love for the game, even though I agree the world itself was pretty spectacular.

Exploration is my top priority. While in general this refers to the environment, it can also apply to exploring possibilities within the game mechanics like crafting systems.
Second is Story for me; although I'm not heavily strict on it since I can look around it for some games (ie games that are designed not to have one), but I will not give a game a great review without it. Some games I've played were entirely held up by the story, and I still enjoyed them on a first pass (ie .Hack).
Third is style. A game does not have to have fancy graphics to have style. It can (and in many cases) be simply pixel art. To me style is what holds the world together; a medley of Environment, Music, and Character graphics that consistently binds your experience into a package. I don't even have one of the graphics powerhouse current gen consoles, so I don't begin to think this is as simple as "Graphics". Excellent examples to me of games that had style were Chrono Trigger, and Okami.
My fourth priority point (not to say the last since there are others that just don't make the list) is of course gameplay. If games are poorly designed with large clipping issues or other platforming pratfalls, it would really get on my nerves. I do like innovation, but if a working formula has been used before, I'd be willing to see it in a new medium (as long as it isn't over and over and OVER). I don't care for hand-holding, but won't rage about it in most cases. Seeing as I'm a jack of nearly all genres (minus sports and physical interaction games), I'm open to quite the variety of gameplay styles.

Gameplay>graphics>story.
I play video games for entertainment value. If the gameplay is ass I won't play it. Graphics are 2nd but still important. Story doesn't really matter to me a whole lot, more of a bonus if the storyline is good.

Gameplay and music are the most important. Story is second banana as a good game can have little(SuperMarioBros) or no story(Tetris) and still be wonderful.
Graphics should always be the least important aspect. If a game isnt enjoyable then graphics won't save it.
