Herbs and Veins locations
#21
Yes. The Jester Scarlions (lvl 68) spawn Black & Purple, Froscolas (lvl 72) spawn Blue & Brown, and between those two are Silver & Magenta.

You can see it this way, the lowest level monster is 68, the highest level monster is 72. So the maps spawns herbs/veins as if there were lvl 68, 69, 70, 71 and 72 monsters, resulting in Silver, Magenta, Blue, Brown, Black and Purple herbs/veins.

Oh, ok. I thought the gap would've been the 4/5 and 6/7 veins.

Very nice find indeed.

Quote:Heartstones and Golden Flowers are spawned randomly in any map where herbs and veins spawn, albeit with a very low rate.

At what would you approximate that this rate is? Based on my total time spent...uprooting flowers, I would take a stab and guess 0.2-0.3%.

But the table is added. Smile

Oh, sweet. I haven't really started this whole Profession business, so I didn't quite catch that. Just thought I'd point out that it's convenient to be included.

Herbs and veins seem to only spawn on perfectly flat platforms of a certain minimal width.

For example, the Sharp Cliff maps of El Nath only spawn herbs and veins on the very bottom platform, which is flat. The other platforms are uneven collections of rocks, trees, and hanging bridges spanning the chasm, and do not grow herbs and veins. Ice Valley II's bottom is also a rock bridge instead of flat ground, and so nothing grows even there.

This means that maps where the ground is all "rugged", like the Caves of Trial and the Drake Caves, or made of very small uneven platforms like the Aqua Dungeon, won't spawn anything. On the other hand, maps that are all geometrical, such as Ludi, can all be expected to grow well.

Sometimes the graphics don't match the underlying terrain. Use the simplified mini-map to see whether a platform is truly flat or not.

What about maps that spawn monsters with level gaps of over 10 levels? (Many Zipangu and Masteria maps). I assume they spawn all the possible veins/herbs? o.o

Also is there some kind of a formula for their respawn time? There seems to be maps outside Ardentmill that have the same almost instant respawn for veins/herbs, mostly those that spawn all ores. Is it just a coincidence or related to that?

The spawn of Heartstones & Golden Flowers is definitely not random, they seem to spawn in most area boss maps and some others. I channel surfed in the Snow Witch map and found one of them in almost half of the channels, I doubt that's a coincidence.

They also spawn at Jesters, Drakes, Panda Teddies and other maps in ludi. I doubt that's a coincidence.

So... wich herbs are the ones that drop the Rose? I am having a stupidly hard time finding one for the pocket slot quest. And I have had no luck in finding any rose in a red vein.

I know this isn't technically appropriate, but is there any map suggestion for mining gold/topaz?

Ludibrium is the best place to farm ores imo

I'm kinda a fan of Omega, though if you want to get out, bring some tower scrolls.
Barnard Gray - 65 (Emerald/Gold, first map is all these)
Mateon - 66 (Aquamarine/Red, several maps, all exclusively Mateons)
Zeta Gray - 67 (Aquamarine/Red, can also combine with Barnard Gray for Aquamarine/Red/Emerald/Gold)
Plateon - 69 (Black/Purple, several maps, again exclusively Plateons)

The maps for the most part have 2 layers, so you can just circle around them looking for the ores. (on the Mateon/Plateon side, hidden streets are better)

A mining mule in the 60-80 range should be fairly easy to arrange, and then you could just leave it in Omega permanently.

My personal preference if I'm leaving mules permanently and need variety is El Nath. Eastward, you have a 5 (Emerald, Gold), 6 (Aquamarine, Red), and an 8 (Black, Purple) in relatively small easily cycled maps. Westward, you have a 3, so in the span of those maps you have every ore needed, unless you are after the super low end ores. The monsters are also the lowest leveled collection of monsters available for the variety. If you have momentum based travelling skills like my characters do (DW, Gunslinger) travel is that much faster on the ice.

Now if you're like me and specifically need Aquamarine Veins for their Smithing mule to reach Level 10 there is no place better than Ariant/Magatia. There are 6 maps within shouting distance (1-2ish maps) from a town containing said Veins. For the lulz, try to mine something on a conveyor belt, much fun will be had. For this reason and for the other veins located centrally around, this place would be #2 in my book if it weren't for the high level your mule would have to be. One more super Aquamarine Vein location is the collection of Grupin/Lioner/Cellion maps. Both Jr. and Sr. version of the monsters end in 6, so all the maps and even mixed maps will contain them. This area gets knocked down a peg because there is too much climbing in many of the maps, still a good alternative though.

I need a little help with Gold/Emerald though, the only decent place I can cycle, i.e. run all channels for one map then another and come back with ores respawned is the two Moon Bunny maps in KFT. I think this is the only pair of maps that cycling for exclusively Gold and Emerald can occur in without having to go to the middle of nowhere (5 maps in or somewhere crazy remote) or go between non-adjacent maps. Best place so far for me, what do you got?

Out of curiosity, have you guys been timing ore respawn at all?

As far as I could tell, it was 5 minutes from destroying the last vein that a new one (same colour) would appear, in the OS map I was training in over the 2x event.

Hunting red/aqua veins I have came acrossed
Dead horse commanders in perion is a decent low lv map, but kinda far to get to.
The cats in orbis both jr and regular(great if ur a mech)
Omega is decent but I prefer Orbis/Perion
Aqua road sea-horses/pepes the both maps have hidden streets that are very horizontal the sea-horse map is great and spawns a variety of ores from gold-purple if i remeber correctly.
I also found a small glitch with mech's mount if you jump cast it, it treats it as monster riding and you can get off in a split second.
