Unscheduled Server Maintenance - 07.22.2011

Welps, this sounds all too familiar but I'm going to have to rely on hackers in order to complete my projects. Good show Nexon, rather than reap the benefits of an event that wasn't broken (lest you already had your weapon and were angry at devaluation), you turn Golden Temple into another ghost town, save for those really desperate to get their 40 level items. You've lost the NX I was going to spend on GT, try again later. I don't root for hackers, but I've given up, I don't really care, the fairness quotient is somewhere in the 8th dimension nowadays, let's just get the dupe train on the tracks.

On a more negative note, I was holding out on buying GM Staffs for a little longer, silly me, I arrive and notice this goings on, I could have had my 9 too...-_-
On a positive note, I bought a GM GFA for 250M.

So yeah, today i was planning to:
Level up to 120 for the first time ever
Buy the PVP shoulderpad
Get the event PVP items on my Evan
Level up my new bandit

5 hour maintenance. I probably wont even do one of those things.

Yep, gave it back to the whiny, "but I spent 2b+ on MY perfect weapon so everyone else should have to, too!"

No offense at those guys. Sorta. :p

Studies have long shown that audiences are more likely to voice a negative reaction than they are to making known a positive reaction.

So they could give everyone 50k NX for free, and the forums would still show a stronger negative reaction than a positive one.

Doubt there would be anything positive about nexon at this rate regardless.

I still wonder how they came to make mobs drop them unintentionally. :x

The entire argument from square one is a contradiction.

Viaje Wrote:So it's 'merchanting' in a game, but illegal in real life. Got it.

Selling things at a crazy price is illegal in real life? People aren't as stupid in real life as they are in an MMO. If somewhere priced gas 3x higher than other places and waited for an idiot to come by, well we know what would happen there. Wouldn't be illegal. Just really stupid. Just like someone buying a virtual item at 5x+ the price by mistake.

Viaje Wrote:You're adorable when you don't have anything real to say.

You're adorable when you can't see that i'm making fun to run the argument dry and instead insult me to mask that you don't have anything in response to a non-serious answer. We both know neither of us are going to budge. Why do we (mostly you) even bother? I would actually enjoy a serious answer on this. If not, then whatever, we can just go on to not derailing a thread that is so off course it makes me lose hope in southperry as a forum.

Viaje Wrote:What a contradiction.
You're asserting that someone trying to make all the money he can would undercut himself.

What the hell? Everyone who had a GM scroll to sell pretty much HAD to undercut the price on them because they needed them to sell as soon as possible because their item was losing value fast. I doubt you don't know this was the case, but it sounds like you didn't or else you wouldn't say that there isn't a rush to sell anything.

It was intentional, as per -Hime-'s post on the forums.

100% scrolls are the ones being removed from the Golden Temple drop list.

There has been a lot of feedback regarding the scrolls and we decided it was for the best to remove it as drops. Whether or whether not these scrolls will make a come back, it hasn't been decided yet.

Thank you!

Whatever you do don't take me seriously. If you take me seriously then we are going to get into a fight where I'll call you mean nasty names because you're wrong and I am right.

Actually, my comment was a serious one. Except for the "Yay!" part, that was sarcasm.

Homerowed Wrote:Oh we are swearing now? XD these arguments always get so heated.

Much like in real life, swear for emphasis. My perceived emotional state doesn't necessarily have f'ucking sh'it to do with how i f'ucking feel in real life. That is enitrely your f'ucking perception. My heart is beating at a normal rate. This is a diversion for me.

Homerowed Wrote:Needless to say, in life people will always be trying to rip you off in one way or another, and others will be sincere, it is up to the buyer, to see to it that he/she knows what she is buying and that it is a good deal, you can't expect to trust every random person who sells you something. And while scamming might be morally wrong, and the scammer is therefore wrong, they did not force you to buy that item, it was your own mistake, so just because they gave you the opportunity to make a mistake, doesn't mean no fault lies with the scammed.

Oh god. As evidenced by your comparison to real life, you're missing the point entirely. I don't even believe in morality in maplestory. I don't give a flying f'uck (this swear means i'm real mad. make sure to point that out and "get me") that chicol scammed someone. What i don't like is his attempt to use flawed moral reasoning to vindicate himself (to himself, funnily enough as it would never have changed my opinion which isn't really opposed to him scamming someone in the first place). And that based upon this reasoning he lies to himself to stem guilt. I think he shouldn't even feel guilty. I'm actually on chicols side where it counts. You're just riding a guilt wave.

Homerowed Wrote:Also that original argument when you replaced scammer with the word hacker, was not clever, and did not logically fit, so yes it was retarded.

You're entitled to your opinion. which i read the first time. In fact i responded. This should be a good indicator to you that i saw it. You didn't need to repeat yourself.

Oh and just because i am raging so hard. F'uck sh'it stack cun'tbagging douchenozzlers. Damn that really changed my state of mind.

No, i'm right.

Also now that i've accepted the loss of gm scrolls, does this maintenance really need to be five hours long, c'mon nexon.

Hey man! Do you have any respect? Those Nexon people have to go out for their 3 hour lunch, and then their hour and 30 minute coffee break. I mean honestly, how disrespectful of you!

Also you completely read me wrong if you think what i was arguing had anything to do with chicol, and I don't know what I'd be guilty for, I am ms poor, never had more than 300mil, and never scammed, so idk where this guilt comes from.

MARRY ME. Ah and yes perhaps I lost the true point somewhere in this long clusterfun of arguments. My only problem with swearing is it gives you the appearance of caring about the argument, when I most likely am somewhat off the mark on what the true argument is in your head, i'm just passing time, so for the sake of your well being, you are right.

After this maintenance, I'm gonna use my free ticket to level up my Evan (want to get those onyx glasses).

I hope the "connection issues" in the notice means the PvP servers will be fixed so it won't lag as much =)

Way to bow out with dignity.

Here's something i think you'll really enjoy. the logic is so beautiful and flawless. I strongly recommend you read it aloud.

In the 4 times i went in the temple for free i got one GM scroll for 1h sword which i had 0% use for so i simply traded to JP for a dagger one, dont care much at all about this event being crippled.

Yeah. Getting tired of your asinine "respond to a couple sentences at a time" style. It just snowballs.

Anyway, the argument has never been a contradiction; it was just started under a false pretense.
That pretense is that selling and buying are at all the same activity.

Of course, you seem to have a horribly difficult time following streams of conversation.
Selling 10% Scrolls at the price of 100% Scrolls is a scam because it require deception.
A real-life analogy would be vendors selling knock-offs of high end items.
I never once said nor implied that overpricing is a crime.

Anyone rushing to sell GM scrolls was short-sighted. It's Purple Surfboards all over again, with people speculating that they would easily be under 5mil after the event and now they easily go for twelve times that much. Of course, this is now completely coming away from the actual discussion at hand.

As for your mockery, the fact that you were making fun of my statement was readily apparent.
What's baffling is that you find it odd that one wouldn't have anything meaningful to say in response to a joke.

Speaking of which, if you have a problem with my continual response, I suggest you simply stop responding.
I believe in natural flow of conversation and therefore don't understand why people get so huffy when a strict subject is not kept.
Fact is, to expect people to perfectly adhere to a topic is absurd.

If you want to know why I bother responding, well, tough cookies.
