What Happens to Foreign Objects...

... trapped in your lungs?

Such as rice, water, or anything that goes down the wrong pipe and doesn't get coughed up. What happens to it? Presumably the body gets rid of it somehow, since we'd all be drowning in dust if the body had no way of doing it, but exactly what happens? :f6:

If it's water, it's a condition called Pulmonary Edema, when it's water, it'll cause some nausea, difficulty on breathing, eventually some medicine is required, but the body has it's way to absorb this water and take it off lungs.

When it's something else, it's called Severe Pulmonary Edema, since it's not as easy for the body to get rid of those things as it's with water. It'll be worse, you'll feel worse, but your body, in more time, will also dissolve, and absorb the things that are inside it, if it's food, if it's an object... It'll probably require surgery if it's making your condition go bad, and making you feel bad. :x

Depends of the object, some won't hit a decent area of your lungs, and probably won't make a lot of difference, saliva is the most common thing to go into the lungs, and it's quickly absorbed back, and some could cause damage, these probably require more care. :o
