There's still challenges... they're shifted at the higher level bosses though. (Von Lion, Cygnus, PB, ect ect.)

Zakum and horntail are outdated. They've been exclusive to the upper tier characters for a long ass time so it's only fair that it become more available for others. It isn't even as worth it as it used to be anyway, so let them have their silly pendants and out classes helmets. The guys who were previously killing it all the time just need to move on to higher bosses like lolPB.

...We seriously need some high end worthwhile bosses though.

Potential changes things a whole lot more than perfect equips could even dream about.

Which is why potential killed the fun in the game for me. But that's beside the point of this topic.

In case you haven't played online games before, hacking is always an issue. It's just a matter of how common it is. They do updates, they fix exploits and hacks. At least every map isn't filled with hackers vaccing all the monsters and drops now.

Based on your posts it seems your opinion on this game is limited to the last 2 years where you are part of the new generation that condones hacking. The games absolutely turned to a point where there's absolutely no form of recovery when the community not only tolerates hacking, but feels so threatened by it to actually accept it.

Years ago, hacking may have been rampent, but it wasn't so awful that the economy crashes on itself, meso deflated to the point where a dollar is equilavent to 100m, and where a level 200 character is considered worthless. By worthless I'm talking nearly $150, which is no where near what it should be worth, even with the new content.

All and all, you try to talk down to people for making a big deal out of a game, yet act completely ignorant of the crude moral that runs it. Nexon doesn't run the game, hackers do, period. I have quit, in fact quit back in february. I actually had faith nexon, like in 2008 would release a capable ban system that would keep people from duping items, crashing servers, and/or dc hacking, and prepared for a come back. Then I decided it wasn't worth it, and really your opinion on the subject has little to no credibility because you're comparing the lesser of the two evils, not the original game.

In fact the double standards that have taken over this game, it doesn't matter what you do, the community no longer carries the negative stigma that made it difficult to hack and boss. Everyone wanted to be honest players, now everyone wants to be the one guy who gets a little more attention, or the power trip to say "I solo'd horntail". I don't think you'll understand how maplestory became a toilet based on a companies most basic mistake, negligence.

The Maple Story community was always crap. Let's not be in denial here. If you were one of the few who reached level 200 then you were envied, not respected. People didn't know you beyond a number. And to be quite honest, the main sell of Maple Story was never the social networking aspect or the opportunity to meet other players who wanted to know more about you.

Like I said before, at least KMS tried to add a solution to this through the profession system. We can easily make items with 6% of your main stats or other stat and then sell them to make money and buy what we want. Sure it would still be far from what you could attain with NX and cubes but it sure helps in bringing the gap closer. All this event does is kill any current weapons, push the price of items with great potential even further, give those with NX and hackers major advantage over the ones without it.

Ey, I can't fully agree to that. What I liked about it when I originally played was the colorful enviroment, the easy to use chat system, and frankly because it was a game that offered teamwork as well as solo playability.

The truth of the matter is the game evolved but never kept in check while doing so. The patches are becoming oppurtunities to further crash the market, events trying to fix the damage the previous one did, and equip revamps to attempt to give the poor an oppurtunity to become of the rich. It's about trying to keep the game alive through the constant gun shots everytime it offers something.

The community was never perfect but it was never this bad, and the players who were obnoxious were extremely limited to the level of harrassment they could do to you. Now they can shut down the game because you called them an ass. You could say it brought "The personality behind the character" out of the person. Really, the community would be an infinity times better if there was consequence towards actions. There isn't, theres a sense of "I can do whatever I want with limited to no punishment". Why should I respect you when all it does is leave me vulnerable to a potential begger, or someone who's going to have the confidence to shun my opinion because they don't agree with it.

The game died not entirely, but majority on negligence of the company, you can't blame the garden for weeds growing if the owner of the garden doesn't clear them.

Yea, I'm not exactly new. I've been playing since 2006 actually. My opinion is based on actually playing the game and seeing the effects of what's happening, not making assumptions based on what I read on forums. I've been through the worst times of this game. The fact is it's nothing new. This has all been going on for years and the game has actually grown and become more popular and more profitable. The sad fact is that 90% of the community directly benefits from hacking in some form. It's not the same as it used to be. I know what you're talking about, I was there. Yea, there was a time hackers were shunned and legit pride existed but it's pretty hard to come by now with the simple availability mixed with the frequent exploits that make hacking such a prospective gold mine. I and many other users are just sick of reading about how every new exploit, glitch, or problem is 'the downfall of Nexon/maplestory' or how 'the end is coming' because you dc'ed for the third time today. People need to realize it's not that bad. It used to be worse. The fact that I understand that and I live with it and don't whine and moan doesn't mean I condone it, it just means I accept it as part of online gaming. Your whole post was a bunch of personal attacks strung together with complaints about Nexon and faulty assumptions, and you say I talk down to people? -_- get real.

As for your other post, what exactly do you want as consequences? People get banned all the time. They could do IP bans and then people would be whining they can't login because a hacker had their ip once. They could link to id's and then people would whine they were sharing too much info. There's no real simple solution to fix the issues of multiple accounts and the level->profit->ban mentality of todays hackers.

Then you know as well as I your entire statement isn't true, in fact entirely, false.

steveg89 Wrote:I've been through the worst times of this game. The fact is it's nothing new.

2006/2007 The worse thing you had to deal with were botters. DC hack didn't actually come into full swing until late 2008 early 2009. First dupe that happened in bera occured around that time frame as well, and that wasn't as damaging as the ones we've had to endure. We're currently in the worst of times.

steveg89 Wrote:The sad fact is that 90% of the community directly benefits from hacking in some form. It's not the same as it used to be. I know what you're talking about, I was there. The pride isn't there anymore because the game delivers no challenge, any player can do anything, and the exploits that have came out has made the impossible possible. No matter how hard you work, you cannot ever accomplish what someone can do by spending $30, it wasn't always like that.

steveg89 Wrote:I and many other users are just sick of reading about how every new exploit, glitch, or problem is 'the downfall of Nexon/maplestory' or how 'the end is coming' because you dc'ed for the third time today. People need to realize it's not that bad. It used to be worse.

When was it worse? The game's already dead, people who still play, play because there's some form of attachment or a nitch suited for them. People try to continue playing, but they play within their means. I was a player that wanted to always go above and beyond, and I don't see a purpose anymore because a hacker can accomplish this by crashing the server a few times. No where has it ever been so bad that a player could shut down an entire server because "I felt like it".

steveg89 Wrote:The fact that I understand that and I live with it and don't whine and moan doesn't mean I condone it, it just means I accept it as part of online gaming.

That's exactly what condoning is. Also like to say that a game that is ran by hackers is not something apart of the game, it's become the game. As you said, theres probably nothing in the game you can do without a hacker being somewhat involved, including the ability to play.

steveg89 Wrote:Your whole post was a bunch of personal attacks strung together with complaints about Nexon and faulty assumptions, and you say I talk down to people? -_- get real.

You have, and nothing I said was personal, just your experiences and opinion are empty because you lack them. I don't believe you played in 2006, you wouldn't say such ludicrious things, 2006-early 08 were probably the best times maplestory has had, and they weren't picture perfect.

steveg89 Wrote:As for your other post, what exactly do you want as consequences? People get banned all the time. They could do IP bans and then people would be whining they can't login because a hacker had their ip once.

I don't recall requesting an IP ban, and banned all the time? Haha. Man, you have some research to do. People get away with duping all the time, and it only takes a small bit of initiative to find these players and delete them. Instead they have a slow reaction time where the items are flooded into the market and legitimate players (such as people who got banned for hoarding chaos scrolls during a clear glitch) get banned than the hackers who hold onto the meso/nx from those players. Then people who abuse the HTP glitch get rewarded nearly 3x it's value, even though they essentially cheated. The company needs initiative to resolved issues before they explolde into a problem where a few liable players become the entire server.

steveg89 Wrote:They could link to id's and then people would whine they were sharing too much info. There's no real simple solution to fix the issues of multiple accounts and the level->profit->ban mentality of todays hackers.

There are plenty, I just gave you one, the other would have a fucking GM active on the server to go "Oh hey, server crashed again, I didn't do it, lets shut off the game to resolve it!". Although nexon has been getting slightly better at this, their clean up is still as shitty as it was 3 years ago. All they have to do is trace one ID of one item on a few characters, delete them all, the end. Even if it takes 2 days (maximum in my opinion) I would happily invite that. Eventually allt he server downtime to keep resolving the same hack would eventually hit their pockets and they'd eventually have to step it up. Now it's kind of stopping the problem but never cleaning up the mess.

The only way we'll get some SERIOUS worthwhile bosses is if they disable potential 100% of the time and have ludicrous PDR/MDR. I mean with the way the game is going with massive damage inflation (EX. Teddi with his 177k range), you'd have to have a boss with 1 trillion HP and ridiculous mechanics to actually be a worthwhile challenge.

It's only a matter of time before we get some stupid mechanics like "Potential within potential" or "10 line equips" and the standard damage range ends up being 400k+.

I think the main problem is how the game is designed, there's not much room for extreme strategy planning or whatnot due to how the game is programmed.

Not gonna quote all that and stretch the page. You seem to have missed the point. I played SINCE 2006, meaning from 2006-2011 I've dealt with everything that's happened. Things are bad now economically, that doesn't mean it hasn't been worse as far as hacking. At least now I can train. At least now you can grab your pianus drops without noobs vaccing them. As for condoning, maybe you should read up on what it means. Tolerating != condoning. By the end of 2007 there were most definitely botters and vaccers in every map worth training in. I'd say that was a bit worse. I suppose the issue is your focus is primarily on economics and mine is playability. I'm also in Yellonde, where we have less of the issue with dc'ing and map crashing. Most of those don't affect me unless I go in fm during map crash sessions. As for IP banning, I was throwing out ideas, not putting words in your mouth. You can't just delete every account with a duped item. Do you realize how many duped items are in the market? How far they've come from their source? It's not fair to anyone who buys random items in fm to be banned because the person that sold it to them got it from a person who got it from a person who duped, is it? Nobody is happy with hackers, but what exactly are you gonna do? If you quit, and maple doesn't affect you, why do you feel some need to personally crusade against me for saying the truth?

It's also not really meant to be that kind of game, which I think a lot of people are forgetting. That's not Nexon's first target audience.

Where do you train? What level range? I don't know about you but high level training is hard because we can get dc/maphacked at anytime. Especially with bosses. The point I was making was that you can't honestly say that hacking has not done more damage/more rampent than it was 2-3 years ago. You just assume it did based on personal experience, not overall impact.

steveg89 Wrote:At least now you can grab your pianus drops without noobs vaccing them.

Whats the use of picking up dropped items and boss loots if majority are worthless because better items have been duplicated and spread throughout the game. Defeats the purpose and your point.

steveg89 Wrote:As for condoning, maybe you should read up on what it means. Tolerating != condoning.

You said you accept hacking on any online game, which too me is disregarding, excusing it as a basic problem we'll face in any circumstance. Thats how I read it with your word choice.

Lastly you overlooked a very important point I brought up about Nexon's reaction time, which in theory would stop such distrubution at such an extreme level where there would be more crossfire than punishment to the hackers. I agree, there's nothing they could do now without stating "If you have this item you are guilty, but your payment for the item is enough of a punishment as we remove it and gain nothing for your cost". Which wouldn't be exactly realistic, but could be justified by all means.

Ip ban is an amateur solution to everything, there are different more effective methods that mainly revolve around the time it takes to actually take action. This is where nexon's negligence comes into play.

steveg89 Wrote:Nobody is happy with hackers, but what exactly are you gonna do? If you quit, and maple doesn't affect you, why do you feel some need to personally crusade against me for saying the truth?

Because it isn't the truth.

More like they're making it easier for people who don't have the skills, resources, or intelligence to organize extreme strategies.

Not like nexon can fix the problem without losing tons of money. Hackers are always 10 steps ahead of nexon. The only way they would stop the hacking if the they literally patched everyday. The game would go down for 4hrs a day costing nexon precious money. Also a lot people would stop playing because of all the waiting for an hack shield update to be done. Before professions the gap between the rich and the poor was very large. Its smaller not small enough yet though. People don't know how easy it is to just buy nx in game from someone who sells it. You can easily make 50mil a day to buy what 1k nx to get in the temple. There probably more nx users than hackers anyway.

Erm. Nah. I don't see hackers running amok in SCII or WoW. Sure there are hacks out there, free ones even, but they've managed just fine with very little downtime, ever, for such things. I'm pretty sure HackShield changes can be made on-the-fly as well. They should be investing more money into MS is the problem. The lack of awareness is killer. No GM presence. Hacks go unpatched for weeks/months.

They bring the game down and don't even patch any hacks. People were using PB summon since March. Just patched. Mage PGs are still rampant.
