OMG! APPLE IS LOSING MONEY!!!!

Fun fact: I follow Apple press conferences.
Isn't it funny how you thought that would be an adequate comparison and it blew up in your face? Hilarious.

whats your point? if apple don't release a new product every few months, they will lose money, since everyone will already have their product, why buy it again? but if apple keep releasing a new phone every 3-4months, people will discard their old phone and buy the new model, that's how the market works.

If they kept making new phones every 3-4 months they wouldn't be able to put enough new stuff in there for people to want to ditch their old phones. I still have a 3GS, 4th wasn't enticing enough. I wanted to wait for the new one.

iPad 2 CAN'T POSSIBLY be successful, can it? Slightly more s'hit but nothing game breaking for the same price? Gtfo...

Nexon isn't going broke.. If i recall is was a sarcastic remark.. you guys are wayy too easyily trolled
First of all, you may want to read up on the rules, chap.
Accusing someone of trolling is a violation.

Secondly, it wasn't a sarcastic remark. If it was, someone was oddly enthusiastic about defending it.

Raul Wrote:That's a bad comparison, yeah. Here's a better scenario: if Apple started releasing updated models, ahead of time, and the ads were really crappy, and the products weren't completely tested, and the stores would sometimes go unscheduled periods where they didn't work.
Yeah, now you're comparing apples to oranges. (Not to say Apple hasn't released products that weren't completely tested.)

>Missing the point.

The NX-'events' Nexon is currently hosting do not directly step on each other's proverbial feet.

Okay, you aren't even talking about Nexon anymore.
(You're right on the first part though.)

Okay, you aren't even talking about Nexon anymore.
(You're right on the first part though.)

Nexon has had the same rotation of cash cows for MapleStory, year in and year out. Shielding Wards are now added to that list of time-specific cash cows. With the "events" for the CS items, they put them into a rotation (roughly 90 days between terms) so that you have to stock up on them, and probably buy more than you need. If they're suddenly putting a lot of them into the market at once, off their schedule, there's something off. They've never done this before, and it's been looking as if Nexon has been having some trouble. Given the list of positions that they need to fill, 22 positions ranging from Software Development and Technology Director, to Game Designer, to Security Engineer, to Database Admin, it's conceivable that Nexon simply hasn't been able to offer their staff enough to do the job right. Add in the fact that the security and infrastructure of the game is deteriorating rapidly, and their videos have been getting much less detailed, and you start to get the picture that there're some problems in El Segundo.

Wasn't that my first post in the thread? I wasn't talking about Nexon in the first place, lol.

For starters, you're assuming the staff that they need is ALL going directly into Maple's team. They could have another game or two that they're lining up and next some extra hands for it.

As far as the less detailed and whatnot, Nexon's always been lazy. This isn't much of a suprise that anything that they try to produce themselves vidya-wise doesn't come close to any expectations we had. Most of the trailers that we've seen before came straight from Korea. It's very rare we get a US based trailer or advertisment on this game. Minus Big Bang and the infamously terrible "I can and it's free" ad campaigns, the US team just doesn't focus on that part of the marketing.

They've had more of a trend where they focus on the elite customer base while they have the attention that Chaos happened to bring. They're sure as hell going to take that chance before the elites happen to quit again.(it's funny how none of these cash-shop sale items are geared towards beginning-mid range players) I really don't have any fears at the moment on how financially well Nexon is doing. They seem to be on top of things.(Financially, as far as technical stuff goes, that's a whole another story.)

I think NEXON is fine, but the MS team may not be bringing in enough. We have to remember that those two are not the same, necessarily. A company can be doing great, and discontinue an unprofitable branch.

Or the schedule didn't make any sense in the first place.
It costs them nothing to rerelease time-limited items.
They could easily be using this as a way to test what NX 'cash cows' sell best in what combination.

I've already addressed this non-point in a previous thread.

I find it sad that you think the game's "security and infrastructure" are deteriorating. Fact is, nothing has changed other than hackers have found more and more ways to exploit an infrastructure that was always weak. The level of security has not changed: it was always pomegranate.

Great job ignoring what he actually said.
There is no evidence that Maplestory isn't profitable. All evidence points to the contrary.

Might I suggest either (a) ignoring conversations of which you don't want to be a part or (b) actually discussing another topic instead of just peaching about the topic at hand.

That's a point but not a very good one. We've seen this happen already to games like Audition, Kart Rider, and more recently Pop Tag. The thing these games had in common were short term experiences and no reason to check back again in the future while Maple on the other-hand always has some kind of hype of the next-big thing that we nerdgasm for. These games just didn't have the pull that Maple has.

Maple has a long experience to it and it's addicting. I would find it weird that the only game that NexonAM would put TV commercials is actually doing badly.(almost as weird as thinking a game is doing poorly despite an $18 dollar item being on the top sold list ABOVE cubes or at least the last time I checked.)

Now if the players were in heavy decline I would be inclined to agree but I just don't see that trend.

Edit: I'm done with this derailment I'll see you guys later. Wink

It's actually more profitable than doing it all at once. It's a mindset. You think "oh, it's not that much, I'm just spending my allotted nx for the week/month" if you're buying things during events, spread out. But if it's all at once, you start to notice it MUCH more, and may start to question why on earth you're spending hundreds of dollars on a game.

Oh, tell that to the unscheduled Yellonde maintenance just scheduled, as well as the 3 USC's in 4 days, the login problems, the undelivered Hot Time prizes, and all the unfixed Chaos issues, which can't be KMS's fault, because THEY DIDN'T HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS. The game's having more structural problems (not even starting on hacks) than any time I can think of. If you have an example, please do tell me.

Oh, what evidence? We have information that NEXON (the whole company) had large Q1 growth. That, firstly, encompasses ALL the branches of Nexon (Korea, China, Japan, North America, Europe, and SEA), and all of their games. GMS makes up a small portion of that.

Take this debate to PMs or something. I'm tired of this trash debate, and would rather it not span on for pages.

Thanks.

Seriously, this. Like wtp guys, every single announcement these days turns into an argument about how Nexon is doing, this sh'it is getting really old, really fast.

Except that, if you're stocking up one items that cost over $10 each, you'll spend a lot more money in a shorter duration of time. So the time-limited items actually have the opposite effect than what you described.

I never said they were KMS's fault. GMS has been experience these types of issues for years.
For example, Horntail signup has been broken for a year now.
There are also unresolved tickets from the mass database breach that happened years ago.

Again, nothing has changed.

peaching that other people are actually having a discussion is pineappleing stupid.

Probability of receiving points is directly related to how much your character is a Hero.
