Zakum

Alright guys, I'm only level 5x right now but my friend is gonna take me on a Zakum Run with him and his friend, who can kill him in 15 minutes. So I was thinking, what pots/etc. should I bring and stuff? How should I prepare? I was thinking of getting like 500 unagis for HP and MP doesnt matter since I'm not attacking... but are there any good pots that raise defense or HP? Im trying to make the HP Pots for Alchemy, but I need to be level 70 to use them... so, what is the best place to sit and try and survive? And how much HP points does Zakum usually take out in 1 attack? Does he hit you either way or only if you aggro him? I have nearly 2000 HP right now and I am going to level up a bit more. We plan to go next Friday and I still have to complete the pre-quests. Thanks for the replies.

Unless you have HB you most definitely won't survive.

You can get Defense Rings and Defense Potions from professions, but I think 2000 base HP is too low to go to Zakum with these days. Though, I'm not positive on that one.

You might survive but not the highest chance, BUT if your party does enough damage then he wont attack you only thing you gotta fear is not getting helms....

You've got a while, so I'd stock up on a lot of defense equipment and potions. and try to level up as much as you can before then.

You'll survive most likely, Zakum doesn't attack (often, maybe a couple times) in a party for some reason, so just don't go run into him, and you should be safe. When I last went in a party, he attacked maybe a couple times, so you could just hop on over to the summons and start tanking. As for where to be, try and hang on the left rope, so you aren't pushed around all the time. Potions should be something that can heal you completely because you probably can't take a hit and heal a couple thousand and take another hit. If zakum only did 1/1, then any pot is fine so long as you aren't at 1 HP at the 1/1.

But to be on the safe side, level as much as possible and see about HB. I can't give zakums damage out, because I get hit for barely anything due to my high defense.

My Evan got hit for around 1.2K at 123 (damage displayed, not what I took after MG), if that helps.

If you want to take the risk, it's possible. Your worst enemy is the falling fire pillars which will 1hit you. Fortunately, you CAN avoid those. Before they actually fall, there is indication on the ground as to where they will be falling, just try to move somewhere safe and pray.
I'd suggest keeping your ass on the top left platform so that you can tele to the other side if there is no safe spot on the left side once zak throws pillars.

Also, I don't know how much the bottom 2 arms do after Chaos, so you might want to stay up.

The mobs will KB him and he'll land on Zakum body.
That's how I died on my Aran back when Zakum actually hit a lot.

I just took two level 55 ~ 60 with me on Zak since we can finish quickly. Protip: Don't do it. If you don't have HB, it's not worth the headache. Dude, just GETTING them to the altar was the worst. About the run, well, I don't wanna talk about it. ):

You will NOT be knockbacked off by anything and you will avoid the fire pillars that fall down. Just make sure you are on the absolute top of the rope. This means that your entire character is above the rope and your character's feet are just on the rope.

Try getting a DrK for HB, and stock up on HP equips. Go into DS, hold onto that rope, and be ready to use your HP pots. Try getting some elixirs for the 1/1's, they're helpful. Versal potions from Elpam Gorlab raise defense, so try getting some of those.
Also, you could just try leveling some more.
BTW, you don't need to get a zhelm at level 50. your job hat will suffice for a while.

Bring a bishop. Even if you died you can get ressed once zak is dead.

You definitely need HB, although getting HP equips as well as stacking DEF rings might keep you alive.

If you can't get HB, scroll a bunch of things with 10/60% HP scrolls.

4 HP rings (+200ish each) and a few landed 10/60% HP scrolls should mean you're fine.

Zakum hits up to 2800's without armor, so if you can't block off at least 900 damage you'll need HB.
Or go buy one of those new +2000 HP potions...

I wish the HP potions could be used before level 70... And I don't have to worry about getting the helms... My friends said I could... And I can get to the alter really easily with Dark Sight. Will Dark Sight do any good against Zakum?

Dark Sight will do fine to get to Zakum, however magic attacks ignore Dark Sight completely.
