What's the best way to try and get rare avatars, in terms of buying cheap avatars and binding them?

I'm highly tempted to drop Astral Storm on my ele in favor of maxing everything else. 1.2k sp...is just...too much.

Grind/farm and hope to get lucky.
Bind basic and hope to get lucky.
Bind adv and hope to get lucky.

Personally, I found a really cheap one, bought 2 at low-ish prices, and binded another. The rate of success is drastically lowered, but that doesn't stop some people. According to dnf testers, it's like 17% for 2 adv, 10% for 2 basic. And other random numbers inbetween.

I'm highly tempted to drop Astral Storm on my ele in favor of maxing everything else. 1.2k sp...is just...too much.

Do it. I dropped Astral right away with Act 10, and I've been loving it. Makes Archmage much more playable for me. I find it really hard to justify active Awakenings anymore, unless they're like...too good (Nen Flowers, for example).

Agreeing with Felix here. EX Walls ends up basically covering the role of "high damage skill" for you, except it has a shorter CD and is a hell of a lot safer to use.

Also @ felix and thathurts: Yeah I think I'll end up dropping astral then. It was pretty and impressed people while it lasted
Guess that leaves me to go light/dark + max ice wall and 80 points leftover. Halloween buster is still tempting though.
