Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

I started watching this anime yesterday at the college's anime club. Right now, I'm on episode 5 so for the love of GOD, no spoilers (or at least use spoiler tags). D:

How many of you have seen it, though? I must say, this is the perfect anime for October because from what I've seen so far, it is REALLY SCARY. o_o Mystery/horror = Perfect anime genre for this month.

It's the best anime ever made, and my personal all-time favorite. Just to entice your curiosity, I'll say this:

You know nothing about what's going on. Everything you think you have figured out, you don't.

After watching the 5th ep, I will say that your friend is totally right. O_o

Soul Eater is an awesome anime too that has a halloween theme to it. It's not scary though.

[COLOR="RoyalBlue"]I've seen it, make sure to watch the second season as well. It's one of, if not the best anime in the horror genre. You'll have fun with later episodes :3

I'm gonna try watching it. That intro song....... I KNOW I HAVE HEARD IT SOMEWHERE. Are there any maple videos or anything that use that song? Where the hell have i heard that song before.

Back like two years ago, my friend wouldn't shut up about it in class with me.

Has to be one of my favorites. It was actually the first one of it's kind that I saw. I was very surprised to tell the truth.

Not really a third season, just an OVA. So a few episodes, I can't remember how many though.

Good adaptation, makes me want to read into the novels more, but my Japanese is horrible.


OVA is five episodes and it's going to take a year and a bit for all five to come out from now. [SIZE="1"]Making Higurashi eligible for jsaimoe 2010, I believe, kukuku.[/SIZE]

Saikoroshi-hen - three episodes. The only serious one and I found it surprisingly touching, especially if you're interested in Rika.
Hirukowashi-hen - one episode.
I forget the title of the last chapter, but yeah, one episode. I think it involves the gang at the community pool and stuff.

Mystery/horror = Perfect anime genre for this month.

Perfect anime would have been Umineko no Naku Koro ni, but sadly, it's not airing 'til sometime next year. [SIZE="1"]And no, it's not a sequel to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.[/SIZE]

I just finished episode 9, and I've got some theories about what's going on. I'll put it in a spoiler.

They didn't introduce Shion (the twin) until the second restart of the story, and they didn't introduce The Director (mentioned in episode 4) until the 3rd restart (where i'm at now). I think that when everyone dies, they're restarted as an alternate dimension or something. The demon inside mion I think might be controlled by the curse guy. The other 3 seem like they're the ones saving Keeichi in the stories. Also, they show a clip at the beginning of episode 1 and I think it was episode 5?? where it was a premonition of what was going to happen, even though I haven't seen the part episode 5 was showing yet (where the two little girls are dying). It's very interesting so far, and I want to see how much I can guess as right as the story goes on. I'm going to go to sleep for now, and watch some more tomorrow. I can't remember everything else that i'm guessing that will happen

Edit: I've noticed that they've started to become alot closer and more honest with each other as the story goes on. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Each death usually signifies the end of an arc. I really don't think you want me to explain it to you, as it would spoil the series. However, I can say that everything that happens is related.

Anything that happens once means almost nothing.
Anything that happens twice is a coincidence.
Anything that happens more than that is important.

.... lol, how could you get confused when the animation quality and art style are completely different between the two seasons? >_>;

Check with episode fourteen of the first season. It's a new chapter and it's quite different from any of the other chapters.

It's not like you'll be spoilt if you watch the next parts out of order of the first season as long as you watch the first eight episodes anyway.

I'm already back on track. It's wierd sorta of knowing what's going on way way ahead of time, and putting together the puzzle of the story backwards from the way it was intended. Since I saw like 20 episodes ahead (all the way into the 2nd series) I'm connecting the two stories backwards lol. I got lost on episode 18 of the first series, and watched the second series from then until episode 23. That's when I realized I clicked on the kai version. The youtube videos are all placed under recent videos, which is where I was clicking at. I didn't see the kai and clicked on Higurashi no naku koro ni kai 18 lol. The story actually continues in the second season almost exactly the same, episode by episode, just from a different point of view. Man its wierd putting the puzzle together like this lol.

Edit: the part I got sidetracked at is where Shion starts to go nuts, and in the 2nd series, it doesn't show it as Shion but as Mion. So this whole time I thought it was Mion killing everyone, and Shion in the jail cell.

Edit 2: yay I remember where I heard the song from before. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember.

Still, how could you... not notice the vast changes in the quality of the anime from the first and second season, even on youtube.... lol....
