Looking for input on my drawing
#1
Hi lovely people of South Perry~Biggrin

Anyway I know we have some amazing artist here at this forum and was wondering if i could get like pointers...crit..or even a helpful tip to make this art request i did for my friends b-day.

He was looking for: his buccaneer starring out into the sunset on top of Dragon Canyon (skeles place) with his white duck. But he was saying the character looks less detailed then the sky but overall loved it. But I want to improve it alittle.

So help? Glitter

I love the choice of colours!

I think that because the background is so beautifully done in detail, it makes the person seem bland, because the buccaneer is detailed enough I feel, it's just the background drowns it.

What I would do is make the background less popping by neutralizing it with cool tones, and add more warm colors into the character to make it pop forward

cool colours recede and warm colours pop forward, that will make the character pop out more,

i also think a stronger contrast on the closer leg will help pull it forward!

sorry I don't really know how to explain well lool,

goodluck! Big Grin

Well, depends always on what you want to make the center of the image. If you want the buccanner to be the center, and want the background to be improved, i'd have a tip for you. Know the Dragon Canyon background? Not only it has some amazingly deep colours, but it has lightnings falling from the sky. I'd suggest doing them, as well as abusing the black and white effect, and to give more attention to the char, do a bright outline for the shadow and lightning effect.

Since it really won't help with just words, i've done that as an example for you. This is how i can see that it can be improved :O
