Near death experience...

Don't know where else to stick this, so here goes...

I was on my way home from work going up a 4 lane (two lanes both ways) road with no center divider, just a double yellow line, no island or anything. Speed limit is 30, I'm doing roughly 34 and I'm in the fast lane. Which means the fast lane on the OTHER side is right next to me whizzing by.

I come around a curve in the road and as soon as I come around the curve, right there in front of me is an 18-wheeler in my lane barreling straight into me almost causing a head-on collision. I jerked the wheel and swerve out of the way by maybe 2 seconds before the truck would have hit me. It happened f'ucking instantly and I still feel like it happened in slow motion. It was surreal. I'm so lucky there wasn't a car next to me (or behind me, he didnt hit anyone else as far as I know) or I wouldn't have been able to swerve out of the way. I had to pull over for 20 minutes to get my composure back...but I'm still a little shaken up 4 hours later. Truly a frightening experience...

Today I realized how fragile life is, and you shouldn't go around wasting time. I'm not looking for sympathy or anything with this thread, but I know I've been a bit of a douche around here. That's just me having a bit of "fun." Might not have been fun for you guys, but I usually get humor off of prodding others. Call me an internet bully but it's the internet after all and shouldn't be taken seriously. But I'm done with it, and probably entertain myself elsewhere. So all in all, I'm sorry if I ever truly offended anyone.

Holy pomegranate Sorry that happened to you Mark. I'm pretty sure if I had an experience like that, I wouldn't hop back in a car anytime soon.

I dunno...it's not going to keep me off the road because I HAVE to drive. But it's seriously an eye opener. I felt like I've been blind all these past years up until today.

if it was, you should of got license plate number.

It was far too late to do anything about the idiot driver. By the time I realized what happened he was long gone. Only thing I cared about was going home.

Damn, that does suck when that happens. I was driving then a truck around that size started going into our lane when it was just around next to us. Having a barrier to the side didn't help, luckily we were able to put on the brakes in time though.

Lulz. Indeedy. I'm an pimento, and I admit it. I can be at times, this is true. Hell, as my girlfriend, she called me an pimento in front of a bunch of people on MS a couple of times when I was being an pimento, it's the truth. It's just I rarely am nowadays. I was worse back then, Mark. f3.

But yeah, I hope that near-death experience will help you later on in the future. I've had a couple last year during the Winter, just drive safe. ;]

I can't recall a near-death experience, but I do remember a "split second in slow motion" moment... that bat hit me badly.

1 SEMI TRUCKS ARE NEVER suppposed to be in a fast lane
2 he almost caused a head on collision and that driver needs to be taken off the road
3 His company can fire him for being an unsafe driver that could possibly kill other drivers
oh and usually if you report it to the police they report it to the company that owns the truck

It's okay, everyone is an pimento to a certain extent.

I drive perfectly safe and I wear my seatbelt. I doubt it would've saved me if my reaction speed was slow today though.
