MapleStory Crashing
#1
I've never crashed on MapleStory like this before. Basically, I open MapleStory, and it works fine. Then, it starts lagging. The lag progressively worsen over a period of about 3-5 minutes, when the client crashes completely. It's almost always 3-5 minutes, and it comes whether I'm doing something or not.

At first, I thought it was my laptop, but I've been keeping my laptop elevated and blowing a desktop AC at it. My laptop wasn't even hot, because I haven't been doing much on it today. I then looked on Nexon's website and saw a thread about connection problems. I updated HackShield exactly as told. I downloaded the WinRar file, deleted my old HackShield folder, and replaced it with the HackShield folder in my WinRar.

The same problem still happened. I've tested it under various settings now. Small screen. Large screen. Windows mode and full screen.

MapleStory crashes without fail. I asked my buddy list the last time, and a few people are getting the same problem.

Any solutions? I'd like to stay on at least long enough for a boat ride.

My friend is also getting this. He says usually around 5 minutes he just disconnects. Not sure why some people are getting this and others aren't. I never downloaded that new HackShield thing and I'm not disconnecting. :/

I was fine for hours, and then it started doing this garbage. Haven't bothered to go back on since it will probably continue until they fix it.

I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I have yet to encounter any problems but I was browsing through the Nexon Forums this morning and came across a post that Hime had quoted that a bunch of people are saying fixed their problem, here's the link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

Just scroll down a bit until you come across the first set of steps 1-3.

After doing so, it states that if the problem does not continue the problem is due to; "interference is occurring because of a background program or service." and if it does continue; "interference is not occurring because of a background program or service."

Hope this helps people.

After the patch/maintenance I can only play Maple for 5 minutes max until it just closes. No error, nothing. I've never had any problems like this before (and I've been using Windows 7 64 bit for over a year now).

I have this problem but I found a way to fix it for myself. I noticed if I stay in the same map I log into I WILL dc. However if I move to another map and even if I go back I will NOT dc.

It has been great in the past months, but now crashing issues came back. The game started crashing to me a lot since the Chaos patch. I've never experienced so many crashes, but now it does happen randomly while performing random operations.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I hope they'll fix it with the next patch..

It happends to my laptop but not desktop. Both are i7 and used Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. The laptop has 8GB RAM and 2GB Video RAM while desktop has 1/2 the RAM. Laptop has nVidia while desktop has ATI so I suspect the problem Video card related.

Edit: It might be related to GPU switching. Just guessing.

Old PC System:
WinXP 32bit UK SP2 - AMD64 4000+ / 2GB Corsair DDR1 SDRAM - Crashes after 5~15 minutes of playing Maple, no exceptions, especially with multiple people attacking on my screen. -> Maplestory.exe slowly grows to 650~900mb ram (memory leak) then crashes. My old PC worked flawlessly (but slow, lol), except for 1 program: Maplestory

New PC System:
Win7 64bit Professional UK SP1 - Intel Core i7 2600k / 8GB G.Skill DDR3 SDRAM - 100% No problems in Maple, I don't even need to run it in administrator or any compatibility mode.

Both use the same videocard (Nvidia GF 9800GT - PCI-E) btw.

Good to hear it helped people! Also here is an official update from Hime about the issue:

Hime Wrote:Hello Maplers,

We are working with AhnLab to resolve this issue some players are experiencing. AhnLab has identified the cause of this issue but will not be able to provide the fix for us until early next week. We understand some players will not be able to attend the 2x event and Hot Time this weekend and we do sincerely apologize for that inconvenience. We will have similar events in the future that you will be able to participate in.

Thank you for your patience.

So no official fix until the Patch on the 10th. >_<
