WAIT! WHAT? why would they cut the funding to NASA? it brings in more then it takes.
why not cut our military spending budget and tax the rich?

When you look how much it costs and how much they are in debt, you'd understand. I agree, they should be cutting military spending, but America is a nation who loves to flash its penis, so I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

The Space Shuttle was designed in the 1960's, it's ancient technology compared to modern technology.
The Space Shuttle last reason to exist was for the completion of the International Space Station, which will be complete now.
They're already developing better, more modern, and cheaper ways to do space travel, including Ion/Plasma engines and Scramjet launches.
Also they're reverting back to parachute landings with the GTA lander (like it was before the Space Shuttle, like all the Apollo missions), just because it's cheaper and WAY more reliable.
Also, the focus shifts back to the Moon and Mars, especially Mars. The next big things will be:
- Building a Moon Base (ESA wants this)
- Landing people on Mars
- Building a Mars Base (Nasa wants this)
I thought they aimed at starting with the Moon Base in 2020, humans on Mars in 2030, and the Mars Base in 2040.
Oh btw, some vids:

I had seen/heard about most of that, but it's still cool to watch how we are progressing. 2020 moon base is a bit farfetched, even still; I can believe 2030 moonbase, though.

Military spending has already been cut.
Don't you remember a month or two back went Military paychecks were cut in half? My brother has been suffering since then because he hardly has doesn't make enough money to support his family now. He has to rely on special help from Military programs to keep his family housed. :S

Moonbase sounds about right for our generation.
I seriously doubt any of us will be alive to see people living in a mars base though.

Ion/Plasma engines are extremely energy efficient engines that can keep on accelerating during the journey to Mars, instead of having all energy depleted in the first 4 minutes of the flight and then hope for the best.
When they have those engines, the difference between a base on the Moon or Mars isn't that large.

They need protection against radiation and space junk or rocks, because the velocity of those engines is very high and a better way to maneuver that spaceships at high speed and thats a lot of work.

Wait they cutted the military budget by lowering the paychecks, I guess it was just part of other cuts because if they only cutted there that seems stupid to me since if I'm not wrong is the weapons (guns, tanks, jets, etc...) that makes their budget so large.
