How do you get rid of people you don't want to talk to?
#1
Point-in-title.

Just curious. I have someone that keeps texting me and IM'ing me constantly and it's my fault that they think it's okay in the first place. I didn't expect them to be so annoying (they literally have nothing better to do, I guess) at first so I guess I let it seem okay. Not sure how to get them off my case so much.

I wouldn't mind so much if they at least had something to talk about.

Don't respond. Duh?

Delete and block them. That's what I do. I mean, unless they actually provide useful converstations, you may as well do that so they don't bother you anymore.

So you only use your friends for conversation?

Normally, if I had encouraged it, I would. I hate being mean because I made it seem okay.

It's become that like 1/2 conversation attempts are actually useful. The other ones are downright annoying and yeah. This is the kind of person who, if you don't respond, simply keeps talking. If I don't respond on the first attempt on Skype, I get texted (which I can't easily block people from).

EDIT: Above has the right idea. This is a friend, albeit an annoying one.

If you're replying to me, no. But when people chat me just to chat me and spam useless sh*t, I block them. There's no point in keeping them on my buddy list if they don't have anything to say but stupid sh*t.

If that's the case, tell them straight up : Shut the f'uck up and stop being so damn annoying. It scares them, but it at least makes them think twice about what they say to you. Of course, this is only a good solution if you're at the point where you want to tear your hair out. Other than that, try saying what I just said in a more polite way.

If they text you tell them you're unavailable for life.

What is this with these video tutorials... If it were meant to be taken seriously, should it not be written formally?

Just be slow to respond and eventually it'll die off.

I thought this looked familiar.

As a follow-up, I ended moving away from the particular person I wanted to ignore. Worked flawlessly, though a bit costly for most applications.

Do they have value to you
No - Tell em you don't want to talk to them.
Yes - Tell them you're late for something.

Fairly sound advice, and what I've been doing for the most part.
