You'll find the default scout pack is the best =P.....except for the tuna fish melee. And maybe the new items, but I never played those.

Locked Wrote:Not true. Okay, fine, sandman is epic, but I wasn't counting it because it's always banned in competitive matches (lolololol). Default shotgun is much better than the force of nature. You always effing reload with the FoN. The only way you can kill is to kill SQUISHIES POINT BLANK with both shots. You can't even get point blank 99% of the time with your second shot because of the knockback. You can say goodbye to killing soldiers, pyros on some occasions, heavies, and demoman. Scouts are out too, because since when will you encounter one point blank? Only ones are snipers, since they're scoped in usually, and perhaps medics on occasion. Engineers are always camping, so that's a no. The only positive is triple jumping or knocking people off of cliffs (which is fun, I'd admit, but I got a pyro for that).

The crit-a-cola isn't very good unless there's a medic that isn't being paid attention to, and bonk can be used to distract a sentry so your team can get into its range to take it out. Usually though the pistol is good because you can use it for better damage mid-range. And I never use the sandman, unless i'm trying to earn that last damned achievement I need for it. It just opens up to be one shot in close range by a soldier. I would rather open up with a meat shot then let the enemy locate me in third person view.

Kabanaw Wrote:If you're alone and enemies are moving in: Yup I do that if allies arent around. Heres my general strategy as Medic: 1. Overheal entire team. 2. Find a Heavy and cling to him like a pilot fish to a shark. If no Heavy, find a Pyro/Demo/Soldier. 3. Ubercharge is usually up by the time match begins. Uber as soon as I see danger or my ally takes a ton of damage. 4. Keep allies around me overhealed if possible, and heal all who call for me to heal them (aka "MEDIC!"). If allies die I run. If I'm also close to death, I do a last stand. 5. If I'm alone as I respawn and head back to battle, I may take out the Needle Gun. If I see an enemy with back turned or oblivious of me, I shoot them dead and continue on. 6. If I see huge crowd of enemies and I only have 1-2 allies with me, I go nope.avi and run. 7. If I see a Spy suddenly appear and start backstabbing my allies, I start firing Needles at him. 8. I try to always move around when healing. I know standing still will get me killed fast. Snipers still headshot me a lot though. ![]() I have yet to get used to using the Bonesaw when in melee, or Ubering more than one target at a time. Hope I'm not too bad a Medic.

IllegallySane Wrote:Ew, what the hell kinda Medics are those? So... bad. In bold. What is wrong with you? Healing only a heavy is so nooby to me. I played a match where this kid kept healing the heavy and the heavy kept spamming 24/7. It's annoying. Ubercharge should be used when charging towards a group of huge enemies. Such as capturing the Intel. As a medic you should always heal your allies when they face a huge crowd, this lowers their chance of death.

Locked Wrote:In bold. Had a feeling some of my strategy would be off, so I'll try to defend my reasons. I'll refine my strategy as Medic as I play more games, and hear input from experience Medic players. 2. It's IF I can't find a Heavy to cling to. Pyro/Demo/Soldier were possible candidates because they can also deal a lot of damage if kept alive, which means less enemies to worry about. It's also not like I stick to one person ALL the time and ignore everyone else, hence #4. 3. That Ubercharge isn't doing any good just sitting there, and I never hold a charge for more than ~20 seconds because it's extremely shameful to die with an Ubercharge up. I'm not yet confident enough to hold an Ubercharge for too long because I usually don't last longer than about two minutes. If on Offense, Ubering as soon as me and my ally/allies see the enemy will allow whoever I'm with to tear through the opposing team. Again, it's only once I see danger. Heavy is getting shot by several people at once? UBER! 6. I have tried several times to keep a Heavy up when he was being assaulted by 3-4 people at once. It wasn't pretty, he died fast, and me staying there meant a dead Medic as well. Maybe I'm being overly cautious, because I know if I run I can always return to heal another ally. Again, I only ran if I clearly saw a clear disadvantage, like being outnumbered 3:1~4:1 (minus me of course).

Reviews of two of the new scout weapons:
-The Atomizer - I have yet to find a reason not to use this. Don't use it in melee fights, but besides that, it's a godsend of a weapon. I just played a 6v6 as a scout on Badlands, and oh my god, it opens up so many shortcuts. You can jump from the bridge next to the middle spawn to the little decking outside of the house, and from the battlements to the second/fourth point easily, only losing 10 HP that you can easily get back. And unlike the FaN, you don't have to give up 6 shots without push-back for it. -The Winger- this is an OK weapon. The scout reloads his pistol in like half a second, so not much time is lost reloading even with tiny baby clip. For taking out a sentry, it's probably not as good as the default, but as a finisher, it works well. 2 hits at close range will kill anybody with 40 or less health. I'll probably end up using this more often, unless I'm using the FaN or the new weapon, since two reduced clips is a bad idea.

For the experienced players who have been at this for a long while, does this describe the situation right now:

inb4 TF2 goes back to Pay to play because of said above comic. That and pathetic noobs thinking that medic is an assualt class ._. My heart is dead.

But, it's true, 15% extra damage is not worth a clip of 5, considering that it won't change the numbers of bullets needed to kill. If they increase the damage/the clip size, it might be more worth it, but for now, eh. But the atomizer is still AWESOME.

Wish I could find the source of my lag spikes though. Really sucks being a sitting duck during the 15-20% of the time that they happen.

Secun Wrote:I'd feel like a complete idiot not knowing how to play the diff classes, mostly. Why should that stop you from playing? I have no idea how to play any of the classes except from the random readings I do every now and then, and basing their playstyle on their weapons and stats. Heck, I immediately jumped onto Online play the moment I finished up downloading the game and played the Medic. I had no idea what button does what, I nearly failed to Ubercharge my first time because I didn't know Mouse2 activates it. Yet, I won my first three games. It's not that bad as long as you don't hop into a game or server that consists of nothing but professional players. Whatever common sense experience you picked up from previous FPS games can be applied here as well. Just have fun learning! |
