Look at the effects and do what you think is best.
For tanks, get the malice booster expertises.
For everyone else, get the malice reducers.
Expertises should never be leveled beyond 5 (unless another, better expertise requires it at Lv10, then by all means do so) because the effectiveness of a single knowledge point diminishes as the expertise level rises.
As for skills, check for the effects; which ones actually change? Would you be using the skill for the changing effects? If not, leave it at Lv1. If yes, level it up and cap it off around 20~40. By the way, do NOT level Element Guardian (Mage). Its effects only change every 5 levels or so.
Max out all DoT skills; they are very useful.

Yeah. One point per Class level.
True that Reg and Class skills can be upgraded as much as you want, but the main problem is that the cost rises exponentially. In the case of the former, it doesn't just burn a hole in your wallet; it burns your entire wallet to ashes.

That's manageable though, the fact that it's infinite means you have plenty of time to save up to upgrade at least.

When stuff starts costing 6 G per level (and rapidly rises, to boot), you know something's wrong.
That's not the only thing they should change, too. As mentioned earlier, levelling up your expertises makes the knowledge points less valuable as you progress into higher level brackets, as follows:
Lv1~5: 1 point required
Lv6~10: 2 points required
Lv11~15: 3 points required
Lv16~20: 4 points required
All this time, the expertise's bonus per level does not change.
In other words, if an expertise grants +1% HP per level, then the value of each point falls from 1% HP to 0.5% HP, and so on. This makes it most efficient to cap expertises at Lv5. Everyone's going to gun for what provides the greatest efficiency. Where's the "individualism" in that? :/
I say they make all expertise levels require only 1 point. Whether they nerf the expertises or not (they're already lulzy enough but...) is none of my business.

Currently leveling 41 with all classes at 30-35 that can be unlocked with that amount. This game is like crack. Can't wait for Blade Dancer tiem, but now that I've defense/eva stacked on Knight to the upper extent and am taking 50 damage crits every ~10 hits I may just say screw it and Templar it up once they are released.

How on earth do you get that much EVA? I'm having issues farming for EVA equipment. :/
Templars are good. They're the ultimate tanks, with major defensive capabilities and even a self-heal (as well as a single-target heal that has a 2.5s cast time). The problem is that all this comes at the cost of offensive prowess and malice-inducing skills - none of their attacks are malice generators, except for Provoke (shared skill).
Warriors get Group Provoke at Lv60. Knights have Judgment Storm at Lv25. Templars get nothing, so they're about as good at holding aggro as a Warrior below Lv25 (because Warriors get Angry Punch at Lv25, which generates massive malice on 1 target).

ELEGANT ADDS LIKE 150, Knight buffs are incredible and I don't know why more people don't use them for dungeons
Also, Raul's Emblem confirmed for the best trophy in this game bar none by a factor of infinity. Constant self-removal of double damage debuff=overgod tier

I wonder when they will release a Trait changing cash shop item. I'd buy it. +HP/MP% is so much better than %stat, sadly. The only things I can see as useful even for niche class users besides that are %critdmg for dps or %def/resist for tank, and picking one of those renders all other classes gimped as well. Now all I have to do is farm money to eventually buy the 50 unique shield/ring, cap level and 35+ on all classes now...or I guess I could do something else for a few weeks so my PC doesn't hate me for playing this game too much. Still haven't found a better tank trophy combo than one of the 15% chance to remove debuff trophies + Kedar's Chart. Quiller's Fingerbone seems bandwagoned but it isn't really that great when you get right down to it. I'm stacking items with % chance to heal HP and its working quite well; 5% 702 from cape, 5% 595 from whirling set bonus, 5% 47/10sec hp/mp kedars, and when I get that 50 ring 5% 299/10sec (DO WANT).
I will probably switch Kedar's Chart out with Liberation Front when trophy fusion is available. 200+ hp/mp, 500def, 1500atk proc, what's not to like? I would love to be able to switch out the %debuffremove, but healers are just too flaky usually; I only get a good one every 5+ runs, rest of the time its just 2 healers sitting on their hands while I desperately try to tank Adur Protector duo and get owned. One run I actually died to a single king worm, I kicked both healers right there and left to go recruit some new ones, thats just pathetic lol. I would understand if I weren't so overgeared/overleveled, I guess, but when they, quite frankly, have so much to work with, there isn't really an excuse.

Protectors have one particular attack that hits for ~5k damage (without crits). If you fight two of them at the same time, there will be a small but very real chance of you getting one-shotted, with or without good healers.
Anyways, there aren't many good healers around. Lots of them just spam Cure without casting anything else (halp my heal not working! omglolwhatsburn?). Naturally, there aren't many good (or at the very least, decent) tanks either. There were a few times when I was forced to spam Cure just because the fool jumped into the fray when I told him to wait so I could buff.

Yeah its a triple hit skill like Illusionist gets. I can tank 2 now that I have CE level 11 though, even if 1 crits they can't quite 1 shot me. If they both crit though, well...yeah, crits in this game are bogus >_>. I've taken some pretty silly damage before; 18K crit from Dana on her quad damage debuff, 9 CRITS from Olsin due to the fact that he used his triple hit attack and proced his triple hit passive...wtb crit rate resist. However, I've found a surefire method for beating protectors even without decent healers and while tanking; Magic Blockade one, and have an MA stun the other right when the blockade effect ends, then have the mage stun the first when the other is unstunned; thats about 8-9 seconds of safety, because I can take triple crit from one at this point. Also, just discovered the venin bard farming method. level 50 bard in 2 hours and 1K gold in the same amount of time, lol broken much. Whatever, funded my purchase of 50 uniques  .

can someone describe this game to me in comparison to oh i dunno...maplestory? and relative to other MMOs as well i guess. i've sorta been meaning to give it a try but since i work i really haven't had much time. either way i'll probably be playing it this weekend.
