This. they just had a sc end a few hours ago. So they will probably rollback to that point.

Also this might open up a new can of hacks. I really don't think hackers were thinking of using pq as a means of gaining exp. Is it possible for them to re create the scenario that occurred in hoblin pq?

It's just the idiots on the sites wanna make things public from time to time to get them patched because they slowly reach the public and so the Coders/Admins get greedy and release it to get it patched because they aren't getting money from it anymore ( at least not no where near as much ). For example:

The Map D/C hack they decided to release to public because they have a new one and wanna get this patched, plus it was about to get released to public anyways.

Next, the Wh Bot his a huge long stupid story...Long story short a guy sold it to the "main" hacking site for 4 grand to have in VIP to sell to them and make mass profit from them, the guy that sold it to the site ( which was also a well known scammer already -_- ) sold it to another site that was not very well known just trying to get on the map, the "main" site found out, got pissed and made it public so no one could make money from it ( more greed ) now they want it patched, though originally it was sold to Chinese Meso farmers.

We have also had hacks like the Enhance/Potential/Dark Scroll exploit...most of the Coders and Admins and it for the day it pretty much came out ( them scrolls ) but decided to release it much later just for the hell of it to get it patched ( odds are something went down in private and pissed someone off, like usual ).

There's many, many hacks with pretty much the same scenario AKA greed.

Admins and Coders aren't to much different from nexon, it's pretty hilarious.

And let's not actually ban the people who HACK, or DUPE, or anything like that. Heaven forbid that we ban the people who do PB summons at LHC, and mess with the spawn. No, they are productive members of the Maple society, and that is in no way "power leveling."

Okay, I'll respond to ALL your posts at once, and I'll start with this: Would you be taking this stance if you were not directly involved (meaning, you didnt use this method to gain 20 levels or whatever you got from it)?

As Sarah and Rob have said, I never said ANYTHING about NOT banning those people. All I was saying is that banning idiots like you will make others in the future think twice about doing something that's grey or heck, against the rules of the game.

Since you're so insistent on having every single little detail, I'll give it to you:

If I ran Nexon's banning, I would...

1. Ban all the WH hackers, all the tele'ing mage hackers, asap. Tell me the fun in hacking, and getting banned every few hours, so you have to start over, rinse and repeat.
2. Issue a notice on the site, then ban everyone that has duped gear, bought duped gear, has possession of duped gear. Saying you didn't know doesn't cut it, and you are responsible for what you buy. The problem that most people have is that the dupers get away scotch free, while those who bought the items are suffering. Banning those who buy these items takes away from the market for them, and what's a duper going to do with his 50 duped 27 atk vsses? He can't wear all of them. Eventually, the dupers will be caught with hacked gears, and banned.

What I'm saying is that you gotta rule with an iron fist, or else no one is going to care. Make the consequences severe enough for people not to try. Make it so that the risk-reward factor is not worth it (so that the only risk you have in buying duped equips isn't just having it deleted, but rather a risk for the whole character you spent so much time and money on). Will this happen? Probably not. How will this affect Nexon financials and the usage of nx? I don't know, but I also don't care. That's nexon's business, not mine. However, take responsibility for what you're doing.

As Locked has said, everyone has probably participated or benefited from a glitch, either knowingly or unknowingly. I will say that I probably have as well. And if I get banned for it, I'd accept it. As Sarah has said in her post about the glitched tokens, she'd have accepted consequences had they come.

Both you and Sarah have admitted to being involved in glitches/exploits. You know what the difference is? She's mature enough to take whatever consequences Nexon may throw at her without whining and complaining. You on the other hand have exploited, and are JUSTIFYING it now. It doesnt matter if 30% of Basil will switch to hacking if they get banned by this or whatever the statistic is. Just man up, grow a pair and take responsibility for your actions. If you don't like it, well...then you should've thought about this BEFORE You spammed your up button.

And no, I don't care whether you get banned or not. Don't come flaunting to me afterwards going "HAHA LOOK I DIDN'T GET BANNED, YOU SUCKER". That wasn't my point.

I'm not implying that they shouldn't ban with priorities. I'm saying you should take a hard, no nonsense policy to it all. Look at Vancouver. You know why these riots happened? Because these people arent afraid of the slap on the wrist they're going to get. They've done this before 17 years ago. And what happened? Nothing. And those that got punished got a joke (prison for a few months, where conditions are better than living at home). I'm taking the same stance I'm taking on Vancouver over here as well: Punishment should be dished out hard, with no exceptions and no mercy. Otherwise, this'll keep happening. Wonder why maple story has been plagued with exploit after exploit, hack after hack? It's cause their punishment is a complete, utter joke to everyone.

Theyre just gonna do their usual check of who gained the most exp from sc to sc and perma ban all the players that trained a lot in that time frame along with the exploiters, just like they did with the silver coin exploit, i didn't log in for a week prior and until 2 days after it got patched and still got perm banned for having legitly acquired silver coins with about 8 four hour 2x drop cards.

Based on my research on certain "notsolegit" forums, hackers abused this glitch too by sending certain packets that let them get 4-6times the exp that other people exploiting the glitch were getting

Then you prosecute them, but you do not give them the same punishment as the murderers. The punishment should be severe enough to make them not do it again, or think very hard about doing it again, but not to severe to make them bitter or more determined to steal or worse. But if a choice between swiftly prosecuting a thief or having a large case about a murder, pick the murder trial every time. The goal is not to kill the thieves, merely to make them realize the error of their ways, and to be able to focus on the more important murderers.

What you're doing is just pointing your finger at the hackers and saying "They didnt get banned, why do we?"
in this case, prosecuting the thief is literally a push of a button
So if you had a thief, that was proven to be guilty, you wouldn't push the button to prosecute him?
Also, according to your example, if someone stole, they got punished harshly for it, that makes them want to steal again?

Here is my policy when pomegranate arrises in maplestory. If something seems strange, I don't participate in it. "Oh look Chaos scrolls have become 500k" -> gets off maple. "Oh look, lots of REALLY cheap godly-insano scg and vss" -> gets popcorn and prepares for the sc. Fortunately I was at work for this glitch so I wasn't able to make the choice of not participating.

I also agree that there should be a much more strict policy on hacking/glitching/exploiting/duping/being blatantly stupid. In this game, when things are WAY to good to be true, they definitely are. Using this logic, why should you take the risk of hoping to get missed by Nexon in whatever bizarre strategy they choose to fix the problem with their game? You are either getting screwed or you are getting lucky, when really imo, you all should just get a ban for breaking the ToS.

This and a mention on another forum is all I could find. But apparently it was an accident according to Hime. Too bad I thought it was a duping thing.

I actually agree, I think that there should be a 30 day ban for everyone who exploited the glitch. That's in line with the User Abuse Policy (for 1st time offenders), and seems like a just punishment. Enough to make people realize that they fk'd up, but not a perma.
EDIT: unfortunately, this would clash with the first 2 Chaos updates. Therefore, Nexon won't do it, because they'll lose a lot of money. Probably bans that end when Chaos starts, if anything. That'd be typical nexon.

I was banned last Sunday till July 12th for no reason whatsoever, while I was training at LHC
If I have to miss 2 parts of chaos for no reason, then you people who knowingly exploited an OBVIOUSLY GAMEBREAKING glitch should too

Eh i doubt they would lose money on not banning. If only through people being fed up and quit. Those who glitched and stayed however will probably dump a lot of money into cubes because they're suddenly "high level" and they need the funding to complement that.

From what I can tell most of the remaining 27 att VSSs aren't directly duped; they're scrolled with duped 10%/ws but the equips themselves (the only part nexon can tell if it's duped or not) are unique. After all, what's the cost of a couple hammers when you can make another 1300 nx shoe into the best thing in the game, sell it for 30-40k, get more hammers, etc..
