Questioning the future

Sup guys. The other night we were talking with my cousin and we were discussing a strange idea:

How about the future we picture all the time as humans is actually the past? We always picture the future as space-traveling, tech and whatnot. Isn't it more probable that in the past of the universe, when everything was closer, that other civilizations had shared life and all that comes with it? Speaking of distances, we're really far away from other possible places in the universe that may hold life. It seems likely that in earlier stages of the universe forms of life have already done what we think will come.

Humans have been around for around 60,000 years, and that's like a mere second in the time the universe has been around.

i seriously doubt it, i mean if we take the big bang as the start of the universe, life wasn't really possible under such circumstances, and only with time it has changed to make this world habitable. now, there very easily is the possibility other worlds managed to get life first, but the fact that we are going backwards simply seems not possible to me.
