Speaking of mid, anyone want to do a ARAM (all random all mid, yeah self explanatory) game this weekend? It'll probably be a 3 v 3, but it can be a 5 v 5 if we can get enough people.
Rules include
-No blue pill
-No Fortify
-No jungling
Im in. I like ARAM

Good, because it wasnt there.

Experience allows you to deviate from builds more often.

Which is true, but I'll be frank, it's not that hard to build champions in LoL. You're either AP or AD with a mix of caster, melee, tanky DPS, or pure tank.
If anything, finding the right rune setup is the hardest part of setting up a champion build.

You may never know.
Quote:I've already mentioned that guides are only there to help you and not be the "FOLLOW THIS OR YOU SUCK" type of deal. Otherwise my Xin build would be "Glass Cannon" until late game, because the guide I read told me to build Ghostblade and Cleaver (And possibly Thirster) before even thinking about going defensive items.
The quote I was referring to was before your "guide" clarification post, which I agree with. Get with the times mangz!

Yeah, it'd be hard to balance it. we'd have to play the same champion or something.

When I buy a new champion I usually look at the top rated guide on mobafire and try it out. Once I'm comfortable with the champion and I feel I can change the build around I will but the guides on there are fine and my matches usually reflect that when I have a decent team. Sometimes I don't ever change the builds because it just works so well. Just my opinion on the matter.
Can't decide who I want to buy next. I can't choose between Akali, Kassadin or Leblanc. I have a bit of an assassin obsession :l

Singed, Ashe, Ez, Kass, Nid
vs.
Amumu, Jarvan, Swain, Janna, Koggles.
God damn it feels good for my first game of the week to be awesome. Ended up with a duo or triple queue and both sides knew what they were doing. Wards everywhere, people with oracles, smart pushing, smart builds, those lengthy, calculated team fights I only see in streams, everything was fun about that game. Felt awesome in top lane with Ez. We were able to deny solo Swain enough to keep him at our level, avoided all trouble with Jungle Amumu, and Ez was all over last-hitting and both of us bought wards. Did I mention everything about this game felt good? Even if it took an hour. In one awesome push we did a sweep of the front mid base turret and inhib, the bot 2nd turret, on to their blue, then dragon, then baron. It was fantastic. Our excellent kiting team out-kited their spectacular traditional team. Only thing I can think of that was poor for their side was that Kog'maw went AP in this instance. Made it crazy easy for me to tank. FoN super fun Singed time.
It was damn near impossible for us to get to Kog and Janna for easy kills because Amumu, Jarv, and Swain were completely on the ball. So we fought running. Good times, good times.
tl;dr Yesssss

Akali is the most user-friendly. If anything goes wrong, pop smoke. I'd recommend her for starting assassins.
Too bad panth wasn't on ur list. I'd have spent a lot of time explainging stuff.

So glancing through, I've been stitching together tips I've learned from reading multiple guides on LC. What are places to get "good" guides then? I haven't followed any specific guide 100%, I always deviate for what I think would be better in the situation I'm facing. But it'd be nice to see what constitutes "good" guides.

All of the "approved" guides on solomid are good. The guides with 90% or higher on LC and mobafire and generally considered good, unless they're built glass cannon.
But do whatever you're doing. You're supposed to build against the enemy team (should try playing a tank. I always deviate from guides >_>).

Stupid matchmaking, I got paired against a TF that had only 180 wins, but his ELO is 1561, with 251 ranked wins and 215 losses, he kicked my team's ass left and right.

TF wasn't banned? Or was this normals?
@Conor: Akali is probably the hardest of those 3 to play. I think you should buy leblanc. Akali requires a lot of runes that aren't usable on other champs for the most part.

I'm pretty sure that, at least, until you get to high elo, everyone just bans tanks in champion select. -_-
No one ever really thinks about the bans. They just click Amumu, Eve, Shen, and Rammus.
