Hi there folks!
Long time no writing in these forums... I forgot my password from one day to another and my mail got blocked so I had to create another account *sigh* ... What a pain, however ic the bowman section is quite quiet these days so I want to open a new thread discussing this simple question:
Is bossing more effective at early lvls as BM than partying in terms of cost/exp gained?
Please answer from experience and try to be as detailed as possible when doing so.
Thanks in advance guys!

The only way to make bossing as effective as training would be by finding multiple bosses one after another.
A few bosses BMs can actually train off of, without wasting many pots, would be
Anego
Headless Horseman
BigFoot
You could try going to pap, but since it has a limit of 2x per day, so it's not exactly a good way to train.

If you can kill anego in like ~30minutes, sure. other bosses are a good excuse to have fun+get exp but compared to training, its slower than exp you can get while training.

I can actually get more exp at anego then at skelegons with a bishop o.o

I pretty much did 100-110 off HH. It's totally viable. I kill him in about 5 minutes, so if I can constantly find them (I would imagine all servers smaller than Khaini have this as a possibility) I can make about 14-16% an hour. however, you will inevitably get hit, so with a Zhelm you're going to need at least 2,900 HP. That's not gonna give you much of a buffer though, so if you have pot lag it's a bad Idea. I typically use Barbarians for this and just double pot whenever I get hit. You'll also want a decent level of puppet.
If you don't have 2,900 HP, or don't have a Zhelm, then you can go to the Crossroads map. Here, set up the puppet on top of the safe platform. This renders HH helpless for the duration of your puppet's timer. A quick fighter can climb the rope, put the puppet at the far left, jump down and attack, then climb back onto the rope as soon as puppet expires to recast. I can kill it here without getting hit a single time.
oh, forgot to mention one danger at crossroads: The CC point (where your character spawns after changing channels) and HH's spawn point are EXACTLY the same. So, if it spawns when you CC in, you'll land on it. The other thing is that people will walk through the top of Crossroads often and sometimes he'll be wandering around freely because their presence inadvertently caused him to spawn. Also, some people train on the windraiders at the top of the map so if it spawns while they're doing that, they'll be completely unaware and he could be anywhere. xD

My guildie, a Bowmaster, hunts Pianus every day. I am not sure if he does it for the drops or the XP, but he's lvl 170 right now, so I know he sees some point in it.

At my level, the only boss training that is somewhat viable is HH... I sometimes do it very early in the morning (otherwise, I can't really find enough to make it worthwhile)
In terms of money, it's generally at a loss. It's only worth it if you turn in the pumpkinhead, which is limited to 1 pumpkin per 3 days I think.
I can also get maybe 7 or 8%/hour on bigfoot, but that's at a bigger loss regardless of whether or not he drops a toe. Not worth it, considering I can get about 13% at typhons.

In the extreme higher levels its very viable. I know of quite a few people 150+ that train on BF and get 15%/hour+
HH is fairly good at your level, the problem is finding a constant supply. The easiest map (Crossroads) usually only has 3 or 4 HHs in it (Broa). Other maps require far more HP, a dep pend can definately help out though.
To estimate your PPH, just take the % gained from one and divide it by the time ot took to kill (in minutes, add a minute or two to find the next one), then multiply by 60
(%/(t in min))*60
It'll help to do your 'training' on off hours, generally 4pm~12pm/1am EST are considered prime time in maple.

I think bossing for training is far more viable for higher levels than for lower. I'm, of course, talking mostly about Anego. Bigfoot requires that you have someone else go in the room first so you don't get killed immediately, or it requires you to have charms on you at all times. The higher level you are, the better Anego becomes relative to normal training. The only problem is that most servers don't have quite a surplus of Anego, so finding one can be rather hard in Scania or Bera. I've actually been killing Bodyguard A for exp lately. I go in 90 minutes before my 2x starts and he dies right at the beginning. After that I can either find a party at Newties (the bottom is best for BMs) or hunt some Anego in hopes of getting lucky.
At lower levels like 100-140, I don't really recommend bossing for training. Pap would be viable except you can only go in twice a day. Anything else either takes too long (Anego) or requires help (Bigfoot). I haven't heard of HH training before Issac mentioned it, so if that works for you then go for it. Oh, and for the record, Zakum arms are NOT good training. They actually have a not-great HP/exp ratio and you have to go through too much trouble just to get in.

Thanks everyone for taking your time in order to help me! Your help is much appreciated!
I'll deffinately go pay a visit to HH when I am short on time in the weekdays so I can check how's the exp there however since I'm playing in BERA I guess I'll have a hard time finding one >.<
However I'd really like to see a guide on this topic
Happy Bossing lol
xD

I'm jealous
At our level, that's like 50% and it probably didn't take you over an hour and a half
... and tack on all the 75Ks from the heads... Nice.

I love bossing.
I think that this thread should be re-made or moved to a general section since multiple classes can train off of bossing.

I think the biggest plus to bossing as training is that it is always fun and tends to rake in the mesos.
My level 60 spearman has spent close to 100 King Clangs at Hot Sands and I have the surpplus of mesos to show for it.

Is it bossing if I am an HS mule?

Training on bosses such as anego requires you to be a committed trainer and a lot of free time. If you are going to be training on them, then you have to keep spawn times so you know when one is available. I wouldn't call it training if you were to just randomly start searching for them and killing then randomly search again for 4hours.. you could get better exp at skeles with a bishop. Philzor used to kill anegos, then while waiting for the next to spawn he'd go to newts and train with his wife until about the time one was to respawn. And it was an all night/morning thing.

I like bossing to get exp the only problem with this is that sometimes it is hard to find the boss you are looking for, i agree with the post above that the only way to do this effectively is to get a spawn schedule. that has its own problems though.....but good luck

Bossing is a far superior alternative to training, given the fact if there ARE any bosses around.
After the Singapore patch I went on my girlfriend's Marksman (She was lv 139.) and killed 18 HH, and 3 BF before her 2x ran out. 600,000 EXP for 3 minutes on a HH, and 5,200,000 EXP from 25 minutes on a BF. I could've killed more BF but I was seriously tired.
2 hours and 9 minutes spent bossing for 26,400,000 EXP.

On 2x? That sounds low as hell. I get 12m an hour on 1x with just a 2-attacker party at Newts. I'm sure I could get much more than 24m splitting a Skele map with a Bishop. So in comparison... 26m in double that time sounds not-great. I know there's a level difference, but it still sounds too low.

Don't hate. That's fast for me. :[
I'm on Scania btw.
EDIT: Forget to mention I apple'd on 2 of those Bigfeet, so let's just say 13 minutes for 2 of them.
Meh.
