I started writing out the story for you, since you obviously missed it, but I suck at this. If anyone wants to continue where I left off, please do.
Before Link was born, there waged a terrible war. A young, injured mother, holding a child, ran from this great war deep into the forest, where she could keep her baby safe from the knights. She had run into the forest of the Kokiri, where she then died and left Link in the hands of the Kokiri. Growing up, Link had always been different from those of the forest. Namely, he didn't have a fairy, unlike the others.
One day, the spirit of the forest, the Great Deku Tree, called upon a single fairy. He asked this fairy to call upon the child of destiny and bring him forth. Navi, the fairy, did as she was asked and went to find Link. When Link ran toward the Great Deku Tree, he was stopped by a jealous, young Kokiri, who refused to accept that Link, an outsider, could be summoned to meet the Great Deku Tree. He demanded Link to have two items before he could be allowed to proceed -- a sword and a shield. The child of destiny did as such and when he returned, the Kokiri became angry. However, because he made the deal, he allowed Link to pass.
Upon meeting the Great Deku Tree, Link was asked something strange. The spirit of the forest asked him to go inside and fulfill a favor of killing a wretched beast that has made a home of the giant tree. Once completed, Link was told a tale -- how the world came to be.
Gread Deku Tree Wrote:Before time began, before spirits and life existed... Three golden goddesses decended upon the chaos that was Hyrule...
Din, the goddess of power...
Nayru, the goddess of wisdom...
Farore, the goddess of courage...
Din... With her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth.
Nayru... Poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world.
Farore... With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law.
The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. And the golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our world's providence. And the resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm.
Once finished, the Great Deku Tree demanded that Link should leave the forest and go find the princess of Hyrule, Zelda. He, the great spirit of the forest, then died.
Upon leaving the forest, Link ran into his childhood friend, Saria. She knew of his fate and gave him a gift. She gave him an ocarina that, when he played it, could give him the ability to speak to her at will. Unknowing what to say, Link dashed away into Hyrule as fast as he could.
Getting to Hyrule Castle and meeting the princess wasn't an easy task. Through night and day, he traveled across the land. Many creatures, even the undead, stood in the way of his journey. Once he got to the castle grounds, it had become night time, so the draw bridge had been closed. Fortunately for him, there was a ranch nearby. He took shelter there for the night.
The next morning, Link set out and headed into the castle town, passed by everything, and ran toward the path of the castle. Just outside of the town, on the way to the castle, he ran into a young girl. She requested that he find her father, who was supposed to deliver milk to the castle. Link accepted and continued his journey. He was stopped almost immediately after that by a guard near a gate. Link asked to be allowed into the castle, but he was refused. Instead, he had to find another way in. Back near where he met that girl, Link found some vines with which he could climb up the little cliff to get around the gate. Once past that gate, Link peered at the front of the castle. As far as he could see, there were guards. This would be tricky. He ducked, ran, crawled, everything he could to try to get away from sight. He failed many times and was kicked out. He tried many different paths, many different ways of trying to sneak in.
After almost giving up, he decided to give it one more go. He got past the first few guards with ease. He became full of joy. Then he got past another, and another! Soon, he was past the main gate and on his way to meet the princess! Once past the main gate, he ran into Talon, the man the young girl asked Link to fetch. He was sleeping... After waking him up, Talon ran as fast as he could back to LonLon Ranch, where he and his daugher lived. Link was curious, but then recalled his mission -- to find the princess! He crawled into the castle via a small hole in the wall. Inside, he found himself surrounded with guards. Scared, he almost turned back, but he realized he hadn't been caught yet. He had to sneak past quite a lot more guards in each area. Exhausted, Link ran as fast as he could. Surprisingly, he made it! There, before his eyes, was the beautiful princess Zelda!

They don't. I just thought your post was hilarious, because if that's all the Wii can do, how did Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption work out? :o Corruption obviously had better graphics.

Metroit Prime, Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy 1,2, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl were the only games off the top of my head that can push the limits of the Wii's terrible GPU.

indeed.
anyways, for zelda my favorite is link to the past, but OoT and majora are right behind it, i find that most of the appeal in majora is that it's almost a complete opposite of ocarina, in majora the main thing isn't the dungeons, it's all the sidequesting, for such a small world, they sure managed to put a lot of mysticism and feeling into it.
also: that gilded sword is awesome

I doubt it. They're still planning on releasing Skyward Sword this year and the plans to release the next console isn't until later next year.
If they delay Skyward Sword like they did for Twilight Princess just for the new console, I'll be pissed as hell.

I liked Minish cap, but it was way too freaking easy, even on 3 heart mode.

And then you'll still buy it anyway leading to nintendo not caring how pissed you are.

There's a difference between having some backstory of the -land- of the game, and what you actually experience as you actually -play- the game. There's hardly any story at all.
Basically, you wake up, you immediately start your quest, start dungeoning/puzzling, collect boss rewards, use them along with the dungeon special items to gain access to other dungeons. Repeat. The only thing you come across story-wise when playing is that an evil man is looking for these gems to gain access to the Sacred Realm, and you need to prevent him from getting the items by getting them yourself (They're -obviously- safe from evil warlocks if a mere child keeps them in his pocket)
Zelda wants you to open the door because she's naive and didn't think things through, due to her being a child still, and you do it and essentially give Ganon the ability to rule the world in a clenched fist of hell. You awaken and are spoken to by Rudolph who explains to you what I just said in one sentence, except his speech takes about 10 minutes. He tells you you need to go into more dungeons to collect more crap from bosses (Basically) to help stop Ganon from completely pooping in Hyrule's cheerios. Once you collect the medallions (Boss drops, basically) you can now gain access to the last dungeon, and at the end you fight the boss, Ganon. You defeat him, and everyone lives happily ever after.
---
All games have story, but do the stories have any actual -weight- to them, or depth? That's the question. Most of of the Zeldas have just minimal story since the main point of the games is about getting down and dirty in some dungeons and whooping some ass. Yes, there's -some- story, but very little most of the time. I've played every Zelda since I was a twerp, 100%, everything, played each game dozens of times. (Won't say ''hundreds'', since that's just exaggerating) These games mostly have no real noticeable story.
Backstory is just there to let you know -why- your little green-clothed toddler is even going venturing out into the depths of hell in the first place. Other than that, meh.

So basically, according to your logic, not a single video game in history has an actual storyline then. Apparently it's all classified as "BackStory" to you.

Na he is right. I hold the Zelda series in high esteem (except the trash with cartoon graphics), but hardly for the deep storyline. The story is perhaps somewhat more engrossing than say the average Mario game, but it is miles and miles below most RPGs. This does not in any way make the Legend of Zelda inferior though.

I guess, but there still has to be some sort of present / current storyline in the games, otherwise the fanmade timelines wouldn't exactly exist persay, or have so much depth to them lol
In unrelated news...MIND BLOWN!

If all you want is pure 100% backstory, then you're an idiot. Did you pay attention to any of the games? Almost all of them give clues to how the world came to be, how the living beings came to be, the legend of the Master Sword, and all that stuff.
If you think about it, the Legend of Zelda series is an entire collage of a story.
-The goddesses created the world
-Triforce is made
-The Sacred Realm is made to house the Triforce
-The goddesses gave life to the Occoco
-The Occoco create Hyrule
-The Occoco create the Hylians
-The tale of the Four Sword (Minishcap Backstory)
-Link restores power to the Four Sword and defeats Vaati (Minish Cap)
-Master Sword forged as the Bane of Evil
-The Master Sword becomes the main key to the Sacred Realm
-Hyrule under war with the Dark Interlopers (Described in Twilight Princess), a very long battle between Magic and Man beings.
-Dark Interlopers banished - stripped of magic
-Events of Ocarina of Time - the Hero of Time lifts the Sword of Evil's Bane from the pedestal of light, revealing the Sacred Realm to Ganondorf, Link defeats Ganondorf and the Sages banish Ganondorf to the Sacred Realm
-Time line split when the Hero of Time is sent back in time by Zelda.
OoT's Adult Link Time Line
-Hyrule is at peace for some time
-Ganondorf escapes the Sacred Realm, threatening Hyrule once again.
-The goddesses flood Hyrule
-100 years after the events of Ocarina of Time, a young, new hero, the Hero of Wind, steps up and defeats Ganondorf with the Master Sword, turning Ganon into stone and leaving him at the bottom of flooded Hyrule for eternity.
-After Ganondorf is slain, Link and Tetra set out and discover new land.
Child Link Time Line
-Link leaves Hyrule as a child in search of Navi, leaving the events of Ocarina of Time undone.
-Link saves the land of Termina and as well as all of Earth, by summoning the guardians of the land and stopping Skullkid, with Majora's Mask, from pulling the Moon into Earth.
-Much time later on, Ganondorf is held in trial for his crimes against Hyrule. He is banished to the Twilight Realm for eternity.
-Much time later, Ganondorf obtains an alliance with an evil entity from the Twilight Realm and escapes. All of Hyrule is enveloped in a shroud of twilight, turning all living beings of the normal realm into mere spirits, except those who have been given the power of the gods.
-With the help of Midna, the Twilight Princess, a new Link steps up to plate and removes the cloud of twilight from all of Hyrule, land by land. He defeats Zant, Ganondorf's ally, and then storms the castle of Hyrule and defeats Ganondorf upon the castle grounds, using the Master Sword.
-The Mirror of Twilight is shattered, forever severing the link between the two worlds.
-An evil named Vaati threatens the land of Hyrule, 6 maidens are appointed to keep that evil from terrorizing the land.
-Vaati excapes the seal.
-Events of Four Sword + Four Swords Adventures - Backstory of the Four Sword's creation is told (Also the events of Minish Cap). Vaati is defeated.
-Ganon is defeated by the wielder of the Four Sword and gets sealed in the Four Sword.
-Ganon escapes from the seal of the Four Sword.
-A new Link steps up to plate and defeats Ganon (The original Legend of Zelda game for NES)
-Some years later, Link, as a young man, sets off on another journey. Unfortunatey, Ganon is back and has put the Princess in a deep sleep and he threatens Hyrule yet again. Link defeats him and saves Hyrule again.
Time Lines Merge
-The events of Ages and Seasons result in a multiverse change -- The traveling through time by Twinrova messes with history and merges the two timelines.
-Ganon, once again, is banished to the Sacred Realm
-Ganondorf comes back and lays his hand on the Triforce, captures the maidens of Hyrule and sends them to the Dark World, the world Ganondorf is trying to turn Hyrule into, where he could kill them and claim dominion over Hyrule as well as obliterating the Light World. A new Link steps up, acquiring the Sword of Evil's Bane and vanquishing Ganon yet again.
-During his travels, Link crashes his boat in a terrible storm. He awakes on an island and travels throughout that island, saving the land and awakening the Wind Fish, the guardian of the land, only to wake up from a dream.
-New technology created - Trains.
-Events of Spirit Tracks

ITT: ShiKage is obsessed with something and has clearly put a lot of work into researching things that aren't at all readily available as story in any of the games and for some reason expects everyone to know it all ready as if it were laid out plainly.
All of that pomegranate looks closer to being made up than being represented by any of the games. I've played every Zelda and none of that is even close to evident. Each Zelda game is generally devoid of story. Japanese Name is right.

Uh, what? I don't think I'm a Zelda fan because I played a game once and liked it. I've discussed the story lines and time lines with friends countless and countless times. It took no more than 5 minutes to type that all out.
And yeah, okay. Each game is completely different from eachother. That means Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have absolutely no relation. The Legend of Zelda nd Link's Adventure have no relation whatsoever.
Hell, that Temple of Time you see in Twilight Princess? Even though it LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE IN OCARINA OF TIME, but is all crumbled and abandoned after hundreds of years, it's not the same thing.
The sacred forest in A Link to the past? lolno... not the same one in Twilight Princess. The fact that they both house the Master Sword is a major coincidence.
Even the development teams for the Legend of Zelda have mentioned each game is a part of a bigger story. That's why each one is so different. That's why WE'RE GETTING A PREQUEL TO THE SERIES CALLED SKYWARD SWORD, which entails how the Master Sword was created and whatnot.
