A recommended recording program for LPs.

I've been wanting to do an LP (Let's Play) for years, I just never had either a good enough computer or recording software to do so. I'm looking for software that records both video and sound (both internal and external (microphone) sounds), and I'd prefer if it was free... really, I'm just looking for recommendations (which is what this thread is about, not about me wanting to do LPs).

Fraps will record video and sound. For sound, it kinda depends on your OS. Windows XP is the easiest, as you just unmute microphone output (so anything from your mic will go out your speakers). On Vista/7, this may work for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu371l4lFjk

I tried going through and doing that on my laptop, but it doesn't work. Another option is to physically wire it...have two audio splitters: one for sound output and one for sound input. Have one of the outputs go to your speakers/headphones, whatever you like. The other goes into one of the input jacks. Your mic goes into the other input jack.

Forgot to mention that my mic is built-in, I don't have a separate microphone. I'm on a laptop, using Windows 7... and as for Fraps, I noticed that when using ZSNES, it only works at certain fullscreen resolutions.

I'll see how I can work with that, I suppose.

The thing I used was Camtasia, but built in mics don't really work well unless it's a good quality laptop. :/
Downside: not free, legally that is.
