Legend of Zelda thread
#1
With Skyward Sword being released soon (september, I heard), I, as a huge fan of these series, feel the need to make a new thread for them. I recently started playing back twilight princess and ocarina of time to get in the mood. Currently at Temple of Time in Twilight Princess and at fire temple in Ocarina of Time. So, discuss anything about the series! My objective is to keep this thread alive until Skyward Sword release. Don't disappoint me, SP.

I've been an avid LoZ fan, yet I've never even noticed this even after playing OoT in every form possible [N64, GCN, Master Quest, etc].

I'm a bit disappointed... Anyway, let's bump just to say I'm at the final dungeon in TP. I'll probably continue OoT after this...

Is Twilight Princess and Links Crossbow Training any good?

My mother bought a Wii off my Aunties Husband for £30, and it came with Just Dance 2, and those 2 games, which she gave to me (i have my own Wii, she wanted a second) I never had any interest to pick up either and havent played either yet but i do like Zelda games (Wind Waker/Minish Cap at least)

I like Zelda but to be honest, it has very little going for it besides nostalgia. Most of the games are completely devoid of story or it's as simple as "save the princess!" and there's very little intrigue surround the worlds. Beyond that, it's missing... I don't know... FUN! They create these grand worlds that are massively devoid of anything for miles at a time.

The best things about Zelda are its puzzles and dungeon designs. But it's missing the spirit of the adventure game these days which is a shame because it essentially created the genre.

You should play Twilight Princess. It's a great game.

I don't know about Crossbow training though.

I liked twilight princess scenario. Best Zelda's storyline in my opinion. But I agree the latest games (phantom hourglass/spirit track) were REALLY disappointing storyline-wise. I hope Skyward Sword doesn't disappoint me...

i have crossbow training, it's... strangely fun, imo it's a great gimmick game, expecially when you start going for record-breaking, i have 2 brothers so we always were "i broke your record"

I finally got my hands on Wind waker after gamestop sent me another copy of twilight princess. Just finished the tower of the gods, and going around the ocean doing optional stuff. Yay rupees.

Speaking of which, I got the game for my birthday last year, since I lost my original copy for '03 or whenever it originally came out (I still have the OoT + Master Quest CD from pre-odering it XD) and I played through it last summer up until I had to collect the Triforce Charts. As soon as I got to #6 or #7, I realized I'm shy about 3,000 Rupees. :| That blows chunks. I stopped playing after that. I've been meaning to pick it back up and try again, but I've just haven't found the motivation to do so yet.

I was playing Twilight Princess just now. I just played long enough to do the Time Temple from start to finish, then I shut it off. I loved fighting Ghoma.

I also realized I've never actually beaten Master Quest. I guess that gives me a reason to play it on the 3DS version if I can manage to get my hands on it. :X

Um, that's because Zelda has always been about dungeons and puzzles, not story. Even from the first Zelda you just go around trying not to get lost, finding dungeons, completing the puzzles, beating bosses, beating the game. One of the only games that actually had story was Majora's Mask.

I've played Zelda games since I was a little kid, putting in hours into them, completing them 100%, etc, because they're just really fun dungeon-crawling puzzlers. In my opinion there has never been a real ''adventure'' game ever created for any console, handheld, etc. ''Adventure'' games are called MMOs.

-Majora's Mask
-Oracle of Ages/Seasons
-Wind Waker
-Minish Cap
-Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess was garbage.

Majora's Mask on the other hand? That's what I call a good vidya game. It took a lot of balls to make a Zelda game like this right after the huge success of OoT. The atmosphere fit the game perfectly. Every area of the game had it's own feeling of dread and hopelessness until you cleared the dungeon and lifted whatever curse was plaguing the land. However, playing the Song of Time reverted everything back to the way it was, giving off a feeling that you can't succeed in your quest.

I also loved how nearly every NPC had their own daily agenda that would change depending on if you helped them or not. Lastly the music had it's fair share of creepiness to it. The final 5 minutes of the final day? CHILLS!

Am I still wearing Nostalgia Goggles if I place this above OoT? Probably. But There hasn't been another Zelda since Majora's Mask that made me feel like I couldn't win. (Unless you count Zelda II. But that's just because of the BS difficulty.)

Eh... I found Majora's Mask easy and not as great as other ones, but that's just me. lol I prefer OoT over Majora's Mask, but other games over OoT.

I still love Demon Link, though. That image right there sums up that final battle pretty well (minus the sword beams). lol

I also have to disagree about Twilight Princess. I love that game. Minus the graphics, the game has one of the best stories of the Zelda franchise and I love how much it resembles Ocarina of Time by pretty much showing what Hyrule is hundreds of years after the events of OoT on the Majora's Mask time line. As it stands, I think A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening are my most played games of the series.

Of course it's not hard difficulty wise. That wasn't what I was pointing out.

The graphics for Twilight Princess really push the Wii's limit.

-Creepiness factor
-Depression

Yeah, I got that. Majora's Mask is the only game that actually delivers that.

Obvious joke post here if you thought OoT had story.

Lol? Did you even pay attention to the game at all? Of course it had a story. It even had a back story explaning how the world came into existence.

You sure you're not talking about your own post here?
OoT definitely did have a story, bro.
