Is Zilean ment to be really hard to play? because i just did a game as him and to be in range in a teamfight to actually do anything i just get killed.
Oh and people have a nasty habit to run off when i ult them and live so it was a waste of an ult lol :/

All you need to do as Zilean is to double bomb people, which has a huge range already, or Chrono Shift people to catch up to running enemies, or ult at the right moment, which doesn't require you to be in the total midst of the action. I don't see what's so hard about that. O_o

Eddikins Wrote:Is Zilean ment to be really hard to play? because i just did a game as him and to be in range in a teamfight to actually do anything i just get killed. My friend played Zilean for a while, in teamfights he would mostly stay in the back and run in to place a bomb and run out, use ult on someone dying or slow an enemy. And yeah, I had that habit of running away when he ulted me too, it's hard to ignore those instincts to run when you're at low health.

Corn Wrote:I don't see what's so hard about that. O_o Deciding under pressure if i should slow down/speed up someone and who to ult hurts my head ok. People say ult the carry but that game it was always ZILEAN U DIDNT ULT ME? to whoever would die first in a fight, regardless of what their job was.

Banshee's, Wriggle's, and Mercury's Treads cover defensive needs for most AD carries without weighing down their offensive abilities. I used QSS today. It actually hardcounters Malzahar. Bait the ult, QSS, go do tank things. Possibly one of my new favourite items. Purp was there (carried both games, once as Kog and once as Panth) and can attest to how amazed I was with QSS. I waddled over to their blue to take it and four of them came for me, Malz ulted, I QSS'd and went over to the rest of my team to get the straggler that didn't come to gank me.

Yeah QSS is an amazing item and the reason why I was hesitant to buy Malzahar. Too bad Riot is stupid and listened to Malz QQ despite there being a cheap, hard counter to Malz

Im just saying if you are melee you are going to need more MR because rumble gonna have a easy time hitting you with his Flametower when you are attacking him. And QSS is one of those Super understimated items out there.

The only problem I have with Malzahar is how easily he can wipe out a creep wave, and how little mana it costs him. Negative mana, I think.

Zilean is a support champ, you have to know how to play him in terms of providing teammate support, not take an active offensive role. That might be why its hard to play him properly. And, he's actually quite OP in some ways. Well, I'm simply saying that because the "OP status" apply to ranked games. Lets see. His bomb, his passive (+8% EXP gain), and his ult all adds up to pure annoyance for the other team and a huge advantage for whoever team has a Zilean on their side, provided whoever is using him is using him the right way.

I always forget to SS the post-game screen. Eh.
![]() Amazing game as Lux. Most of my teammates fed for the first half of the game (particularly a Vayne who was 2/9 by 30 minutes in) and when they killed 5 of our towers when we had zero, I thought we were going to lose. We slowly started winning teamfights and eventually an ace in front of their outer middle turret won us the game - we were able to push all the way to their Nexus by the time they revived. Vayne eventually picked up a bit, too - finishing with a score of 13/14. In all modesty, the only reason we won that last teamfight was because I was able to continuously keep everyone shielded (they all basically stood in a nice little line) while I threw out snares and those circley burst things. I was also really good at saving teammates and at least half of my kills were from epic laser snipes. I didn't miss a shot all game.

I don't see what's so hard about that. O_o It has a range of 600, which is about average as far as ability ranges go. Champs like Ashe and Anivia have an auto-attack range of 600, and certain people have spell cycles that have an even greater range (Anivia's FB is 650). If Zilean tries to bomb the wrong people, he lands in a world of hurt. That said, Zilean is one of the strongest early game champs. WillDaSnail Wrote:And, he's actually quite OP in some ways. Riot thinks that Janna and Zilean are the top supports at the moment and they are role models. Janna is in a good spot (albeit really squishy), but Zilean is frustration in a can. Personally, I think Zilean's ult lasts too long and it is indeed very annoying, nevermind the fact that he can save someone with his uber MS buff/debuff.

Zilean can also do some interesting time bomb tricks - like bombing friendly wards that enemies are standing near, or bombing stealthed champions, etc.

Janna is extremely strong, but Zil lost viability and hit the back burner somewhere. Zil's annoying as hell with how long his bomb range is. So easy to harass D:

I feel that the strength of characters designed to be support have three main factors that determine their strength: 1.) Your team's overall IQ 2.) Your positioning 3.) Covering the weaknesses of your team, while boosting its strengths Zilean and Janna can almost always cover number 3 no problem, assuming it's not some stupid team composition that has little to no DPS. Number 2 depends on your skills, mainly awareness: proximate, situational, or map awareness. Number 1 is why I don't like playing supports when I play with the less skilled people of sp.net. No offense. Zilean contributes more to team fights than Janna does, unless Janna's contribution is to nullify the other team's initiation. |
