MapleStory's Birthday Surprise!
#21
People and their odd obsession with permanent pets baffles me every time. Reviving them every 90 days is not even a bit costly. It's the gear that can put a dent in the wallet. I especially love when they sell permanent pets for what would get you a 90 day pet and water of life for years, and they still act as if they made the best deal ever.

90 days would compel you to feel like you're wasting your pet if you want to take a break from Maple or play super casually (aka: not playing several hours every single day) due to a busier life. It's more of a long-term decision, and I can be happy knowing I never have to buy Waters ever again and it lets me keep my pet until the day Maple shuts down or I move on from Maple permanently. It's both a convenience thing, as well as an investment kind of thing. Besides, it's best for people who level several Adventurers (for what reason I don't know, but we all know there are people crazy enough about the game to level one character to 200 more than once).

Here's how it is for me. The more permanent stuff I can have, the less desire I have to spend NX on said stuff. Considering I have perma NX clothing, a perma PB pet, and perma pet equips, I can 100% completely ignore everything in the CS that involves those 3 categories and can focus more so on the better things in the CS.

Actually, I don't care if the Toucan is permanent. I want one because it looks so pettable. ;_;

So, is there a bigger chance of pets from the more expensive box or is it same same?

might be, but my permanent pet already paid itself, and it won't be long before the perma-equips pay themselves off too.

As a person who has bought permanent pet equipments, I'll say that I'm not paying for their actual use, but for the peace of mind that comes with knowing I never have to purchase it again. When they sold permanent pet equips, I think it'd take three cycles to pay itself off (9 months), and when I asked myself the question "Will I still be playing in 9 months?" My honest answer was "probably not". However, with it, I know that whenever I come back, these things will be there for me to use, and I'll never have to worry about it, or think to myself "when should I buy pet equips, so that I can get the most out of it".

Its like buying life insurance, never having it activate, then stopping. You might never get that money back, but for the time you were paying for it, you had the peace of mind that your family members will be financially okay, even if you're gone. The question is if the cost is worth your peace of mind, and in my opinion, yes.

That being said, I probably will not open any of these boxes, as while all the items in there are worth more than their base cost, not all the items are useful, so while I might get more value here, I would probably spend less paying more for things I actually need.

Werent Toucans a normal release? They were just a time limited release. (Like Bing Monkeys/Crystal Reindeer/White Baby Monkey)

The prize is even more absurd when you consider how much Nexon stands to gain from all those "likes".
This is fake money, and since they're maplepoints they don't even affect the mts. They couldn't give everyone 5k? I will lol forever.
