Warrior Question =X
#1
Hey guys:

I recently made a warrior just for the fun of it, and I might plan to take him further little by little over time.

Im somewhat confused by the capping of base DEX. Originally, I planned to cap at 60 and take it further with DEX equips at my own will, but through reading around the Warrior forums here, I sorta got confused.

Can anyone tell me how much DEX I should have by Level 30, and when I should get 60 DEX (or a bit lower)?

Also, can someone give me a list of equips to use now, and later? (For later, don't mention Zhelms because that's on my long-term goal xD)

P.S. Not to flaunt, but here's his stats (short list):

- 5x-6x base STR
- 20 base DEX (for now) with 18 acc (training him on monsters with low avoid)
- Using a 30 atk Wooden Sword (2H)
- Range: 12 ~ 103 with no buffs, 2x ~ 153 with Warrior Elixir

P.S.S. Funding = minimal. Not planning to go all-out funding-wise with him xD

I'm gonna be honest with you, unless you plan on putting almost no money into him, I wouldn't go with 60 DEX, I would go lower. Try for like 30 or 40 DEX. That will allow more STR so more damage. Also, you said Zhelm is a long-term goal (goal none the less) so that will help your accuracy too.

So for equips to get, I would say at 30, you should get a 13 DEX BDR or at 35, a 14 DEX blue chain mail and maybe upgrade over time. As with all classes that use physical attacks, an attack glove and I suppose you know what weapons you want. For low funding, the only thing I can think of to add on is maybe a DEX cape, and a brown bandana. Although my last warrior I made, I made DEXless and spent about 120 mil on it (not including weapons or attack glove, and I still need to get a Zhelm) so so I don't know if you would consider that low funding or not.

Edit: To add on useful sources of accuracy, there are sniper pills, the maple weapons (not sure what job you are getting, so choosing the weapon is up to you), pendants, and shoes if you wanna cough up the money for them (from what I have seen accuracy shoes are cheaper than DEX). Bless from clerics is helpful too.

Edit 2: Just so you know, there are also other threads about warrior DEX and warrior questions.

thieves cap dex. warriors cap accuracy.

you cap accuracy needed at whatever you train on which you can find out by accuracy calculators. if you buy a zhelm, you can easily go dexless till like level 80 with dex overalls, and accuracy shoes.

What she said. Honestly Will, do I have to tell you that again? =P The magic number you want is 147 accuracy =P

It's also around lvl 80 where the monster's avoid takes a small jump. Be careful of that.

Getting to 30 with 4 dex is super easy if you are willing to spend a few mil, but even if you dont want to spend that much it isnt hard.
Try to get use the following...
 • 5+ acc brown dana= 2m(or atleast the last time I check)
 • 10 acc pill(its a given)
 • and for your weapon, buy a fish spear in mts for 221nx. I even managed to get a like 3 above avg atk for 221.
 • once you get to 20 100% a bathrobe and you can switch to a pumpkin spear at 25.

I know I didnt fully answer your question, but I am looking up a few things and will add more in a bit Biggrin

On my low dex spearman I mess around on, I have 10 base dex and use a 100% bathrobe(10 dex), a 3 str 5 acc blue bamboo, and a 52 atk 14 acc pumpkin spear for a total of 38 acc. I also used a 46 atk 5 acc fish spear before I got to level 25.
So pretty much the point of my post was to show you its not hard to get the needed acc at lower levels and to tell you that you should leave your dex at 20 until you start missing monsters and cant afford to upgrade your acc gear.(maybe at level 80, not counting macis in lmpq or monsters in cpq)

i would say cap it at 25 dex with all the scrolls (Helm acc, shoe dex, cape dex bot dex etc) and weapons (Maple weapons, fish spears, pumpkin spears, etc)there are out these days accuracy inst much of an issue anymore unless u dont put any funds in. in which case u would have higher dex to make up for it.
you can always carry a dex glove with you incase you need more accuracy theyre pretty cheap too.

For your second-job testing, at lvl 30, you will need to kill monsters with avoidability 10, which means you need 22 acc to hit them at all, and 43 acc for 100% hit.
(Data from Orelsplz's accuracy calculator)
Others, above, have listed ways to get that accuracy. If you need sniper pills, make sure you have a supply of them before going into the testing map.

147 might be nice but I've never trained on anything that needed more than 135 >_>

Capping would be somewhat wrong to say in some cases...

Limiting yourself to 139, 147 or any other accuracy would be wrong, somewhat. The goal is not to stop at the needed amount, but getting the most accuracy with no amount of damage sacrificed. That means, until you have perfect strenght- or attack-equipments, you will use "all" your money on this instead of accuracy. In this way, you will be able to train at monsters in the Temple of Time, for example. Or you can go to the new areas in NLC without being afraid of missing anything.

you can make the same argument for thieves. thieves dont need to cap dex. they dont even need to be low dex. it comes down to whoever has more total luk and more total watk is the one who will be doing more damage. its why str bandits are so popular now. they can get more watk without sacrificing a lot of luk. of course only people who are really familiar with the class can say that, like yourself with warriors. but new players need to start out somewhere with something easy to understand.

if you cap your dex at 23, at lvl200 youll be able to get 999 str. otherwise, try to meet the accuracy requirement of the monster you train on.

anyone who says lower than that is full of pomegranate because you can get a "free" 20 accuracy without a sacrifice in the end. anyone who says higher doesnt realize just how many accuracy equips are available these days.

i dont even need 35 base dex at 139.

modular Wrote:i dont even need 35 base dex at 139.

If it's a matter of "need", I can already get 17 base dex with top+bottom and train anywhere I would train in the first place. If I had one of those Deputy Stars that would go down to 10 dexEek and I'm not wearing any face/eye accessories.

There's definitely a lot of dex gear going around now. If you buy it you can be low dex, if you don't want to buy it now I would recommend sticking with a Maple Weapon until you change your mind. That extra 35 accuracy (on a 64 weapon) will give you more options, and higher level weapons are expensive anyway so unless it's becoming something more than a secondary character they're not worth buying..

I personally think the idea of capping at 23 dex just so you won't have to raise it when you hit level 197 is dumb. Nearly 100% of warriors will never make it to 19x, and if you can play with an extra 10-15 str until then it's worth it. Obviously my dex is higher than that but I started before even accuracy pills were available.

Yeah, well, I'd assume so. :x

Okay, so uh.
Find a guide for the fastest training-spots at every level (or, eventually, the training-spots that doesn't require too much accuracy, but gives great experience anyway), and find out how accuracy you need at every level to be able to train there by using this calculator. This is calculator is not 100% exact in all cases; at earlier levels one accuracy here and one accuracy there. However, a miss will happen at or less than 99%, and won't really affect your damage by much.

Keep in mind that when you are at a level lower than the monster, you will need more accuracy to hit it. You will also deal less damage due to a level penalty. When you are at the level of the monster or higher, the accuracy needed will not change when you level up. So basically, if you find it very hard to get enough accuracy to 100% hit the monster, try to wait some levels if you are under the monster's level.

I decided to skim other people's replies, it seems that they're giving you too much info, some of it being completely useless ESPECIALLY to a low level warrior. xD

Here's what I think. It seems to me that you're unfamiliar with warriors and aren't that serious in leveling it. Which means a few things, first you'll mess it up even if everyone and their mothers tried to help you with it, so don't strive for a perfect warrior. Second, you said that you had minimal funding for it, meaning you don't have the motivation nor interest to take your warrior seriously (Don't say you can't afford it. I've spent over 2 bill in meso on my warrior, no gach, and almost completely self funded. I borrowed money from friends, but I repaid most of it. Recently went back into debt for a 14 attack bwg). And finally, it appears that you're just trying something new, a job you haven't played before.

My advice, if you're interested in high level warriors just to play as one, private server. If you want a seriously good warrior on GMS, make a character your own way however the hell you want to make it. Let it flop. Let it be a piece of garbage char, seriously. Then re-make it. I can almost promise you that it's the best way to make a good char. You can't possibly make a great character of any job without first experiencing it yourself. Asking other people for their opinions is just that, their opinions. Some of them know what they're saying, but most don't. Personally I made an 80 dex warrior, then remade a 30 dex warrior, and reset it down to 23. As people said, low dex/dexless gear is available, but if a zhelm is a LONG term goal, dexless is out of the question. I had to get a zhelm and maple weapon just to push through to 3rd job.

@ whoever mentioned 147 being the magic number, that's for 4th job... he's not even 2nd job and you're giving him 4th job advice? =P 2nd jobbers need like 75 for their 3rd job advance, and 3rd job needs like 129 to train to 4th job... I'm not checking who said what so sorry if I'm being ambiguous, whoever mentioned they had 13x acc and can hit everything as a 4th jobber, that's great. Try training at Crimson Guardian or solo pap's 2nd form, you'll wish you had 147 x] It's not definitively required, but it helps in many cases. Also, for an end-game Hero, you'll actually want around 165 for the content that's in the game now. 165 however, does include buffs/pots/etc. so really 145 + bless could do it. 165's for monsters like cornian and horntail.

More level based...
1-18: none
19-25: 18
26-35: 43 (2nd job advance is 43 acc - other than that, you only need 25 or so) - I've generally done this with dex gloves + pigbook/pumpkin spear on dexless warriors
35-50: 55 (easy, you get mastery these levels)
50-60: 72
60-80: 80 - note this is to train on Voodoos, 3rd job advance is 76 acc
80-95: 103, 115
95-120: 125
120+: 135, 139, 147, 165...
In the 3rd job range, high acc earlier gives you more options but rarely faster training. If you're not quite at these acc amounts, you can just hang around the previous area for a little longer.

As Crimson Guardians (resist all) and Papulatus's 2nd form (neutral + flying) are not things I ever fight, my Paladin does not ever need 147 acc :/ I can equip it though if I ever had to for some reason. I just stay with 135 acc on training gear because I don't train on elemental resistant monsters.

Well, I remembered my target acc goal for 3rd job adv was in the 70's, might be to hit tauromacis? I forget exactly. Since I went low dex, I shat my pants daily to make sure I had enough acc, and if not, how I would go about getting it.

I'm a hero, so elemental resistance and neutrality does not effect me one bit <3. If you're high enough level to solo pap though, I'd recommend it~ For me, it's decent exp, low cost, and good profits. As it stands, I gain slightly less exp per hour than I would with a decent training party and I gain a small amount of money from normal pot drops. Any equip/skill that drops is purely extra income, which just makes it all the better. Of course, if it takes you too long or costs too many pots, it might not be worth your time/effort.

On-Topic : If REALLY don't want to grind a warrior to level, you could just do PQ's all the way up to lv 101. (Although I STRONGLY advise against PPQ for exp. I was level 100 when it came out and I PPQ'd to get a hat. I forget how many PQ's I did, around 50 or so, and all that only got me 20%, with exp from a few new quests at the time included.)

I mixed them up :x Tauromacis are 50 acc, job is 76. I think if you trained to 70 you should have that much anyway, training STDs 40-70 would suck.

For me, it was before NLC came out, so my plan was to train at FoG/STD's to 70, I think that only required 5x accuracy or something along those lines. So I only worried about the job adv.

I DID tell him in game that 147 was for Pap and Crimson Guardians, although I didn't recommend the latter option to him. And what's wrong with using pots for getting 147 accuracy? Sniper pills are cheap cheap cheap. Also, end-game accuracy is what specialty gear should be for, imo. Most people don't get 165 accuracy training setup just so they can whack HT's main head 100% of the time. Actually the same could be said for the 147 accuracy, but that's a more realistic possibility than HT.

While I do agree that he's got to wet his feet with the Warrior thing, it's possible to go in without having to remake, and I seriously won't advise him to make his first warrior a flop. I guess it's mostly up to him if he really wants to do that or not, but knowing his main reasons, he probably won't.

@ Devil's Sunrise (Mondays) that's a bit... advanced for a long-time Mage/fresh Arch Mage, don't you think? That's only if you wanted to be no-DEX anyways, I think Will still has room for error as a low-DEX. I also did calculations, and you benefit a LOT more by having accuracy than having more attack power. Unless you upgrade about 10-15 watk with little sacrifice to accuracy.
