Possible archer hero spoiled?

And: "Nexon’s press release says it’s a new character that joins Cygnus, Lilin, Valerie and Aran with their dance."

No one thought that it could be a new class(Like Warrior,Thief, etc.) other than a Legend?

Something like Bard/Dancer from RO,maybe?
Well, last year they said that they would finish Legends in 2011, didn't they? Would make no sense to make a completely new class, besides where did you get the "Dancer" job from, lol... We don't have "Police", "Cheff" or "Artist" job either.

Where is this press release? If they said word to word what you quoted, then the likely of her being either the instructor or legend( / successor) is now 80%.

Probably somewhere on their site or something. Spadow stated the new character thing from the press release in his latest blog.

Alilatias Wrote:Still, if you think he's going to outright tell us that new classes are in development, especially with the negative reaction that new classes are having among parts of the GMS community (not to mention the fact that we had -just- recieved three new classes then), you're equally nuts. Remember, this is a GMS PR event, in which the big topic of the day was Chaos.
The big topic of the day was Chaos? That's weird considering it was mentioned.... once.

There is also a huge difference between "outright telling us that new classes are in development" and telling us that they're holding off on new classes. This isn't a binary issue; there are many in-between statements that could have been made. (Then again, your arguments seem to rely on making everything black-and-white).

Alilatias Wrote:Last year was also full of leaks (MSEA contest winners visited Nexon Korea offices to bring back an image of Edelstein, patching some Resistance skills into the test server beforehand, and Nexon realizing their [censored]-up with that Mechanic image in their video but took it down too late). Did we know anything about the Knights of Cygnus before the Striker was first patched into the test server two and a half years ago? Aran before he suddenly hit the test server two years ago?
I can't say anything about Cygnus because I wasn't into the game enough to warrant following every whisper of news, but Aran definitely didn't "suddenly hit the test server".
The only thing,
that I can say,
is "suck it".

And unless you have proof that Nexon has learned their lesson, then saying so pure malarkey.
Until something new is announced, we can only assume that nothing has leaked because there is nothing to leak.

Alilatias Wrote:Also, it's been almost a full year since new classes were released in KMS. Anyone who thinks Nexon Korea is going to go any longer without releasing a new class is nuts too. It may not be part of the Jump update, but I'm damned sure it's going to at least be part of some big Summer update, especially what with the Jump updates suspiciously ending with the Archers (in May, no less) and absolutely no mention of the Thieves and Pirates recieving a revamp as of yet.
I'll put my money on a "Pirates versus Ninja" update over a new class.
Got a character in Khaini?

Alilatias Wrote:Then this elf girl shows up. I don't know how you can compare pirate girl's 'art being pulled to fill a void' and elf girl's 'new art being created to fill a void'.
Why not? It's the same amount of work.
The pirate girl in the video doesn't actually match the art she's based on (nor does her in-game sprite).

Again, until we see some more official-art, there's no reason to think she's anything more than a one-shot character.

byakugan Wrote:Because all the elements related to this character are new to the game, because the only elf in MS (other than the 4th job masters) is the archer master Athena Perice and because spadow informs that Nexon has declared this is a totally new character. Given it could be anything, like a new NPC, but until something else comes up, we are free to speculate.

Another thing to say is Nexon Korea decided to take a break from making new classes, and It's been almost a year since the last class was released there (Mechanic). Going by the dates of release of all classes since Pirates, Nexon was releasing new classes every six months (pirates-cygnus-aran-evan), then they rushed up and started adding classes every 3 months(dual blade-resistance) and even 1 month if you separate mechanics from the resistance. A 1 year break sounds like enough time for a break, It also would end in summer, perfect time to release a new class.
OH MY! SHE HAS POINTY EARS! WHAT A UNIQUE THING!
Without those pointy ears, she'd be completely generic.

But, yeah, I have no problem with people speculating that she might be a new character.
I might point out flawed reasoning behind your speculation, but I don't really care.

My problem with the theory that a new character is coming after jump is that I'd like to think Nexon isn't dumb enough to rebalance 60% of the original classes and then introduce a new character.

Sarah Wrote:I would like to see Nexon deviate from the five standard classes and focus on new interesting jobs. Like a fisherman originating from Lith. He uses fishing rods and small knives. His attacks mainly include reeling mobs in and slicing them up. He also carries dynamite around because he's a bit of a cheat. Final job would include a MOTORBOAT and he creates magical waves that engulf enemies and such.
This is pretty much the best thing I've ever seen you post (whether or not it was a joke).

I'd love to see Maplestory further embrace the "silly cool" aspect of some of its characters.
What happened to playfully beating up snails and mushrooms?
Why aren't there more non-NX weapons like the Frozen Tuna and the Purple Mop?
Why aren't there more attacks like Shark Wave (I'M THROWING ELECTRIC SHARKS!)?

Maplestory just has an extreme case of bipolar disorder.

for some reason i always thought of new classes when i took the ereve boat rides and saw the npc's on them. using oars and anchors.

edit: and i've never bought into the whole aran/evan/ian/ochan/utan thing. there's only been two legends so far, and you can draw a line between any two points. anyway viaje, it's not like it's too hard to believe that they'd introduce a new class? there's just too many things that have been said to chalk it up to coincidence

Just ignore Viaje here, arguing for the sake of arguing, not going to get anywhere with them.

Agreed, but there is one thing I should mention: I've been doing this for about three years now. I know damned well what I'm talking about, and I pretty much have to considering what I do on the MSEA forums, especially in regards to the Aran thing which seems to have flown completely over his head. I was there when the extraction was done on the surprise KMST patch in which Aran first appeared, which was about two weeks before those Spadow blog posts. (Hell, we didn't even know at the time what his name even was, nor was the term 'legends' even coined yet.)

(Looking back, it's funny how we all were thinking that Aran was going to be in some kind of Anti-Cygnus faction. I personally thought at the time that Aran was some sort of Knight of Cygnus expansion, in which I was completely wrong on that front. People wanted the same with the Resistance, in which my alternate theory for Edelstein turned out to be almost completely correct. It was nothing special, though; Anyone who took a look at the NPCs closely enough would have figured out that the Resistance - not to mention the way the term 'resistance' has been used in popular media throughout history - was fighting against the Black Wings, not for them against Cygnus.)

I will take that bet, actually. If it's wrong, it's of no consequence. I do crackpot theories all the time. That is all.

I think people should speak here in a much more civilised manner. Offensive words will only invite backlash. I'm sure that should be pretty obvious to many people.

Lightning is a possibility, though I'd think more of Fire or Ice... or no element. Or... hey! How about Holy element? =P

I really really hope that when the Archer legend comes out, the skills would be more interesting and not some re-coloured skill or anything lifted off anywhere.

I'm with him about the Ninja VS Pirates thing, though...

God, I truly hope it does happen like that...

Or how the 'Striker' (Thunder Breaker), was rumored to be a 3rd job for the Pirate class, wielding the lightning element. Good times.

I don't know why, but how about a supportive nature-type class (a la BaM) using bows obviously? And they can fly Tongue

I'd get a kick out of shooting party members in the back to give them buffs! XD

Combining two different ideas we've come up with, flying with the ability to control the direction your arrows will shoot.

Maybe they could have a flipping move where they spray arrows in a huge circle for their ultimate or something.
I am rather interested in what they are going to bring to the table with this legend.

Just.... no. It's been like 4 years since 4th job was released and Nexon still can't manage to balance bishops as a supportive class, why would we need another supportive job when the first one is still failing?.

Aiming archer with great mobility please.

I said that I'd get a kick out of it. As in I'd find it amusing. I never said I wanted such a thing. Tongue

Btw, of course I wasn't serious.. cataclysmic changes = Big Bang video lulz o.O

Other than what's been stated, which.. well theres a lot and I dont wanna read it all,,
There's not much expansion that can be done on Archers to make an entire new class.. WHs feature Archer + Mobility.. WAs feature Archer + Element (Sorta, Wind)

I mean, they COULD make an Archer Legend who wields the power of nature.. but.. seems complex and not-mapley (my new word)

I don't tink so.

What about something like a druid.

Just saying, I did read many people's reactions to the Mage revamp.

You may want to brush up on the definition of 'speculating', because I said nothing of the matter.
Neither made-up skills nor fan fiction qualify.
Entertaining the idea that the archer character is the legend does, but I never said anything about that, did I?

Except for the fact that all you're doing is arguing for the sake of doing so and downplaying everyone's posts like they have downs. You're still the buzzkillington of this topic, sir.
Speculating? What trivial childish nonsense.

Regardless, a "Bard" class would be very interesting to see in this type of game, but as someone else said, they still need to fix the original "support" class first off. Problem is this game is too damage-focused and not strategy-based.

Transforms bow into harp and makes beautiful music to buff up allies and attack enemies.

I'd prefer something along the lines of still an archer, but weaker...

HOWEVER, gets stronger with a party, providing buffs, AND something like a special skill where you can borrow self buffs from other classes. Like, if you are near a NL that uses Shadow partner, you get the buff too, or transformation, but with a bow, etc.

Tweak it out a bit, and you get an interesting class.

I think a thief would be better suited for "borrowing" buffs from other classes.

I'd like an archer that was able to summon various animals and such (possibly beginner skills) and have them all gain their own individual levels and skills. Oh and customizable AI on the animals like Final Fantasy XII's Gambit system. Biggrin
