WIP - Torahime
#1
Ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted to draw Torahime from Muramasa (Wii game). For an extra-curricular class, I have to do a huge drawing. The canvas thing I bought this week (which should've been bought since early February) is 20 x 30 inches long. I will be using pens only, no pencils or erasable stuffs.

This is a sketch that I made for it (of course, it'll look more realistic on the final canvas):

Criticize the crap out of it before I start on the real deal. Tell me what looks horribly wrong or what bothers you about it. Be as mean as possible.

Thanks!

Is she adjusting her hat with her left hand? The hat itself seems to be floating in the air behind her head, not on it.

I actually REALLY like the armor on her sides and front (i dont remember its name) and her dress/skirt deal.

The bow looks a tiny bit different in your sketch, but outside of that I really REALLY like your sketch and cant wait to see your final drawing! ^^

The arm holding the bow looks too relaxed to me, if you were going for something dynamic.
Sticky Nipple Syndrome.
What's causing her hair to be poofed outwards like it is?

Yeah, the hat looks awkward. Also the way her arm is hiding behind her bow makes the sleeve look... wonky. Other than that it looks good to me.

Oh, the shading was a little off, that's why the hat looked weird.

Looked over it briefly anything that I could really criticize.

I remember her bow being somewhat more slender and the arc of the bow seems a bit big. Even from the perspective we're looking at the bow from, the arc seems big and the bow itself seems a bit fat. The problem might be that the bow just appears too short.

Also, where'd the bow string go? Couldn't get detailed enough to draw that it?

Hand is not touching the hat, she just has it near her head. I think lowering the edge of the hat might help that. Also the top too.

Okay, I'll enlarge the bow a bit.

She's in a relaxed pose, that's why. As for the sticky nipple, I think tightening the suit might help that, otherwise I don't know how to fix it. Any ideas?

I think poofing the hair less might look better. Thanks!

I don't understand the sleeve part. : \

The shading is just to show that it's the behind part of the hat. : P

Yeah, I'll make the bow thinner. Also, I always thought that bow had no string on it and that she created the string from thin air when she gets ready to shoot.

Since you bring that up, I watched the video of the boss fight to remember. I think she only strings her bow when she fights, but she doesn't have the string in the cutscenes where she's not fighting. I guess it's your call here, since it works either way.

As per that video, I'm pretty sure it's strung all the time. The ends wouldn't be so curved if it was not.

LOVE THE PEN SET. May i ask, what did you use for the fire gradient in there?

Black & Red from the four color pen by my laptop, then the orange pen from the set.

I was only using the four color pen, but then my parents bought that pen set, so I started using it.
